This worked well until recently. Now when I stream any shows, recorded or live, I don't see any picture. I can hear the sound but I only see a black screen. It is the same with my wife's phone. My hunch is something was changed with the boxes software as it looks like the app has not been updated recently. Please fix, TiVo.
Was working well up until this last week. It won't stream to any of my devices now. I can see all the content but when I try to stream it tells me it can't find any streaming devices. Re- running setup, rebooting TIVO box, devices and my wireless routers had no affect. Tivo made a change of some type and broke the app. I hope they will address and fix their issue soon.
Used to work. Hasn't worked for days. Endless Login Loop. The latest edition4.something) is no great shakes even when it did work. It requires Android 5.x or higher, whereas the version 3 ran fine on two older tablets. It does not "respect" auto-rotation and forces portrait orientation. As a result, it no longer allows the two column guide, where you can select a station in the left hand column and see several hours of its schedule in the right hand column. A giant step backwards. If it ever works again, it might deserve 2 stars. I tried deleting and re-installing the app. Same problem. Looks like I can only control my Tivo directly through the remote or the PC.
Terrible app. Fails to find box which is there, while finding it other times. Sometimes takes 15 seconds or more to respond, so that you think it isn't working. Let me expand on this: it is unusable as a remote. When you go into Remote Control, after a few minutes it gratuitously changes you back to the Content screen (or whatever they call it), without your having done anything. The "reconnecting" screen is sometimes up there for a minute or more (how long does it take to make a WiFi connection?). You will go into "reconnecting" for no discernible reason, too. Sometimes an error box says 'a network is required" and then that box goes away, while other times, you have to exit the app and restart it. I don't know how you could make a worse app.
Streaming does not work. At first I got a black screen with a green circular arrow. sometimes I got "The selected box requires version 2.0 of the Tivo app." I've reinstalled, cleared cache and data, but it won't work. After about 24 hrs they deleted my old, disconnected Tivo from my account and I was able to run it. I can schedule stuff. But streaming setup does not work. On both my Android devices. It gets stuck. Tivo support says this is a known issue, but there is no fix yet.
Doesn't work at all on my Googe Slate. Just a black screen. Not even the ability to log on. Glad they are updating the app, but I can't use it on my tablet. Hopefully, they will try again. On my phone, it does allow me to log in and it shows my recorded programs, but it gets an error whenever I try to actually stream a show. It says "setting up streaming" but then always gives me Error Code: E=43 V=9. It has a button to start setup, but I had already set it up and if I push that button, it fails
This app is garbage. Plain and simple. I can stream out of the home (sometimes) for maybe an hour and then it says there are issues streaming. I can dload all day, but when I press play it doesn't do anything. The only way to fix it is to setup in-home and out-of-home streaming while connected to TiVo's WiFi. NOT ideal. The TiVo itself is great, but the app is worthless as far as I'm concerned. It let's me login now. Yay.
This app is a huge disappointment! There are so many flaws in this version that the prior version 3 was actually better in many ways including the interface. THIS APP IS GARBAGE! I have been a TiVo customer since 2002 and it is this kind issue that keeps me from even considering a new device. Will anyone care to do anything about this or has it been abandoned??? The previous version was fine, a tweak or two would have been great this rewrite is horrible!
Uh, so it doesn't have a back button when using as a remote? The release notes do say it's only compatible with older versions of STB UIs, but... that's all it needs to work with newest UI on Bolt. Only an issue for me right now because I can't find the remote... But isn't there a find my remote feature now that I think of it? BRB... Yup, laundry basket.
EDIT: Sign-in blank screen problem seems to have been solved. Please fix your listings, too! There shouldn't be episodes in the 30s for a 25-episode season just because a network adds stupid "pop up video" features to the episode (I'm looking at you, Discovery Channel!). Remedy your issues, Tivo! I love the product, especially compared to cable company options, but things don't work as well as they used to.
Very buggy. Displays "reconnecting" over and over, and won't let me watch my shows on my Samsung S10+. There is a trick, that seems to work partially. I turn off wifi and connect with cell service. I wait for the App to finally stabilize and connect. But I don't want to watch my shows with cell service, especially if I am home. I turn on wifi again, and the TiVo App tries to reconnect but it doesn't stabilize. Very buggy. This is with the latest Android release for the S10+.
Useless app for my Android tablet. Simply does not work - cannot even get into the app. It keeps requiring a password reset. I went through all of the steps - emailing me a temporary password, picking a new one, confirming it, etc (7 times!) - still cannot get beyond the login window. It worked in the past, but have not used it for several months. Evidently they screwed it up with the last update. Update 7-13-19 The latest update has fixed the login glitch, so 2 stars added.
Disappointed but still does the basics. The major problem is that downloaded shows, and the entire app completely for that matter, don't work at all with no internet connection. Uhh, why? Secondly there is no way to bulk download shows, have any visibility as to how much bandwidth is being used, whether or not the show you are playing is downloaded or streaming, etc. Developers - please fix or communicate to users why it cannot be fixed.
I've had this app for years and it NEVER works. streams don't play. constantly requires me to set up for out of home streaming on my phone, which I have done more times than I can count on the same phone. I really like my TiVo box, but this App is absolutely worthless. It's actually worse than worse than worthless, because I keep hoping it will work, but it always fails.
Never can get this app to work for streaming ...year after year after year. I have been a TiVo customer for almost 2 decades with multiple Tivos in the house and I keep coming back to try this app with a slim hope that it has improved. My pipe dream spans multiple Android phones, Android tablets, OS versions, different TiVo models, etc since the app has been available. Never had any consistent success.
Recent upgrades to the Android app have crippled its performance. What used to be a small amount of acceptable lag has turned into crippling delays for every function, and even outright hangs that require force quitting the app. I wish there was an option to exclude all the graphics and other miscellany that comes from central servers and just interact with your own TiVo on your local network to streamline the experience. This is on a Samsung S8 with broadband internet.
Getting increasingly annoyed every update with this app. I use this on my phone to control the TiVo unit like a remote. The play on live TV option is now buried under multiple levels of menus to get to. In addition, practically every time I go into the app it makes me sign in again and won't let the google service remember my username and password.
Fix the low volume issue already...TiVo look at the reviews, do you even care? Volume is always lower than other apps. Where is skip mode?? More than half the time it doesn't connect or authenticate. Interface is slow..... Volume issue still not resolved. No surprise. It constantly wants your credentials after you log out. Nothing was fixed. Is anyone at TiVo listening?
It used to work great! i loved it and used it all the time on my phone and Kindle. then our cable company updated their equipment and now i can't even log in. it even says that my email is incorrect. then when i try to add my email it says there's already an account with that email. been trying to get this to work for literally months. am going to Florida in a few days for a week and was really hoping to be able to use this. have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. still doesn't work.
I'm much preferred the old app. I don't stream any shows, I use the app to manage my lists, but doing so with this app is too painful, too clunky, and too much effort. Password security is very annoying, and much more strict than my bank. I wish I could use the old version of the app to manage my lists. TiVo customer since 1999. App running on Pixel 3.
Works pretty well, however I am greatly disappointed that it does not support Chromecast . The website says of the mobile apps: "Cast from your phone or tablet to the big screen" which implies Chromecast to me. I think they are referring to is the ability for the app to work as an extra remote control for the base unit. That's not casting folks.
Initially, this app was great. Fantastic, in fact. The best feature: in "What to Watch", it would display all the 4-star movies available on all the channels I get on my cable service. Wow! I did not have to go searching through all the channels, one by one. But now, with the latest update, this feature is GONE. Movies are displayed by category, with no star ratings shown. Dang. How to ruin a perfectly good app.
