The only change I would like to see is being able to adjust how many times you have to go over an item to learn it and being able to mark an item as unsure, that is, needing more frequent review. Overall very helpful and easy to use vocabulary app with lots of decks to choose from.

Very good app for learning Chinese! I like that you can practice typing pinyin with tone marks, writing stroke order, and listening all in one app. I also like the built-in dictionary feature but I wish there was a way to access this dictionary feature from the word list. Currently, the only way to access the dictionary seems to be when first learning the word or after getting the word wrong while reviewing. Otherwise, a very good tool!

Its a great free supplement to Rosetta Stone or tutoring. It has many options for language flashcard orders, and with daily streaks, I feel more motivated to practice daily. My only complaint is that the pronunciation and audio quality is all over the place when it comes to audio clips. Some are properly pronounced. Some are obviously an over-confident, non-native student. Some are clear and audible. Some sound like they were recorded from across the room through a paper tube. It's free though

This is an amazing app, I cannot believe it is free. It has basically everything and more I have ever been looking for. I mainly use it to learn and practice writing chinese characters. It has a very nice SRS system, the ability to create your own decks (though there are already many available e.g. all the HSK 1-6 decks in both simplified and traditional!) and an inbuilt dictionary. The dictionary is one of my favourite CN dictionaries as well, I especially appreciate that it shows how frequent a character/word is used and more importantly: the etymology of the character. It helps immensely with the understanding of the character. If there's anything I would wish was available, it'd be an option where you can choose to grade on your own how well you wrote the character instead of it being done automatically; it isn't always very accurate. But all in all, I am more than satisfied with it. <3 I've been using it for almost a year now and I decided to upgrade my account to pro, just to support the developers. It has been quite a while since the last update; I sure hope that its development hasn't halted, that'd be a real shame.

Would be one of the best except it constantly marks correct answers as wrong. It only happens in the sentences and can usually (but not always) be resolved by adding a space before and after the word you're learning. App maker is unresponsive to emails or reports. Such a shame. It's so good otherwise.

This app is best for learning how to write Chinese Characters. In terms of features, it doesn't compare with Skritter - there's no option of turning off the forced alignment of the stroke (so you can compare your writing with the actual character). However, this is free (there's subscription if you want to support the developers), no ads and there's decks for HSK1 to HSK6.

This app is so awesome, exactly what I've been looking for and more. I wanted a flashcard app that looked good and played a sound when getting a correct answer, this has those features and others i didn't even realize I wanted. I've tried using Anki and it just doesn't work for me. I was looking for an alternative to TinyCards and this is it!

Great free alternative to Skritter. This is greatly underrated app, which is almost perfect free replacement for expensive Skritter for studying Chinese symbols. It has words lists up to HSK6 level. The only problem I have with it - in Audio Review mode it does not recognise my correct answers whatever I need to type hieroglyph. Otherwise I cannot fault it It is a shame, that being so good in free mode this app apparently does not have a commercial success and is not updated anymore.

Decent app and not too heavy. Easy to use, but of course this app should be used with other resources and other ways to fully learn languages. Nonetheless I think the app would fit very well in anyone's path to learn a language. However I'm only speaking on the Chinese part as that is the language I'm learning and not others. But from the Chinese section itself it already feels very good. So I hope the other languages have the same user friendliness as well. I would recommend this app to others.

I am learning Chinese and I like this app coz overall it's free, and premium membership is very cheap, also I found the book I study at school. But I found many issues, for example I accidentally select "auto learn selected" and now I cannot learn them again the same way than others.. did I miss something? I purchased the premium membership but I don't get the audio..

I originally skipped TOFU Learn as it didn't have my course text book premade, but I just made my own easily in the end! This is the best app for learning Chinese vocabulary PERIOD. I've considered investing in Memrise and Skritter, however, this is like both in one, but free, and no annoying ads. You can pay a small monthly sum to support the team and then you get Forvo spoken audio integration which is pretty handy when making your own word lists.

Optimal for chinese flashcards but input can be a bit wonky. Still one of the best chinese flashcards apps out there. I like the audio auto fill and the handwriting recognition. I also like how first they show you how to write the character, then you trace it, and then you write it yourself. Good way to learn

After latest update, all the sets are stuck on clear and won't incease or go away if you miss or complete a day.. It's really good just wish they were more active, feels like there's no new development, some decks have wrong translation, when you report nothing changes and after you've finished a deck there no way to continue, you have to set daily every day

Great app, didn't see where the stroke order, interval repetition, Chinese character etymology and examples were implemented so seemlessly. Helps to train writing too and with complex words shows hsk level for each character separately which helps understanding whether it's worth memorising the separate character at this stage or not.

Thank you so much for this app! This has been extremely helpful in memorizing chinese characters. One thing to note though: Sometimes the audio on the flashcards doesn't work. Other than that, everything works seamlessly.

Great app. I got this one because I was desperately trying to find an alternative to a similar app, Skritter. TOFU's interface is much more user-friendly, is reasonably priced and allows you to learn the words you actually want to!

Characters! Great for learning new and common characters. Plenty of books to go off of if you have any. Doesn't do much more than character review and practice but it's a good tool for anyone learning Chinese.

This is great for learning chinese characters. I've tried other popular flash card apps but I found this to still be more effective as it is more comprehensive. I just wish they offered offline use, for when I get bored on the plane.. but besides that this app is great!

Alk. G. Feb 2, 2019

Really helpful actually! I use it to learn chinese characters and of the flashcard apps that are available, this one is (in my eyes) the best. Definitely recomended for anyone who wants to learn vocabulary in an efficient manner.

Jon. O. Apr 17, 2020

This is more than you can expect from a free vocabulary learning app. However, it would be great to have a "review all selected decks" button or even a "smart review" button.

Mic. R. Jan 27, 2020

Many good parts of this flash card program. I would like programs better that have drop downs that you can learn more about each character if you're interested made in the middle of running through the flashcards.

A. G. u. Jan 12, 2019

very complete application to memorize using srs cards. Word lists for popular textbooks are available (including chinese). Only feature missing is offline mode, requires internet connection to start.

Ale. W. Jan 8, 2020

Nearly as good as scritter in terms of the character writing one of the only issues with this app is that it doesn't have the option for raw squiggles which would make the transfer of using this app much smoother when using a paper and pen 🖋

Dan. W. May 7, 2022

Amazing app, maybe needs to check the stroke order, also needs documentation to be able to add flashcards. Great job!

Kei. W. Aug 16, 2020

Excellent vocabulary practice and learning tool. I very much like the graded approach and the way the three-way links are presented.

Joe. M. Nov 11, 2021

Brilliant app considering that it is free. Would be nice to be able to draw characters without autocorrection, then compare against the model character.

Gel. D. May 14, 2020

Excellent. I like that I can customise what I am to review. Best Chinese learning tool I have used. I like the ability to look up words and their radicals, this is really helpful.

Thank you for this great app! (There's a bug that resets the daily goal after each review. It would be great it's solved soon. I already submitted using the feedback section in the app)

Jac. C. Sep 16, 2020

Great app!! But I would like if, during a test, you could pause and practice, maybe erase and redraw a character. Thanks to the devs!

Fully functional, clean UI, free and without ads. Editing decks/words list could be better but already quite good.
