Videos play silently unless you click on them. Then they start playing an ad you have to watch to be able to have audio. Also, I can never find the articles that I click on in my notifications from this app. If I get a notification from this app about a news story & click on it, it opens the app to the home page but not the article it just notified me about.. very sloppy app that needs better devs.
Everytime they change their app it gets worse. If you click on a headline it does not take you to it, especially traffic and it's nowhere to be found. Never updates on where dui check points are on the app. Incorrect news stories on their headlines..... I have written them over issues in the past and was told wer can't fix the issue....hmmmm
the new update is an improvement. it's nice that the articles dont repeat themselves now. went a little over the top still. the layout is a little chaotic. the article links and backgrounds are a little garish, but hey...progress is progress.
The app is pretty much intolerable now. It opens randomly over whatever I am doing. Incessant notifications. I woke up to something like 10 WTOL notifications since 11PM when I went to bed. Turning the notifications off within the app does nothing. I'm very close to uninstalling it.
It is not possible to find stories in the newest version. You can only see the curated headlines that they decide to show. Very disappointing. Selecting a story from notifications doesn't actually take you to the story, and often, the story doesn't even exist.
When you click on the story from the notification, it either send you to a completely different headline or crashes the app. I am absolutely sick of all the poll questions too and other notifications that I couldn't care less about and there's no way to stop them.
Just deleted the app. They have crammed it so full of advertising i can't click on a story without the screen jumping all over. It ends up selecting something else, typically an add. Garbage. Profit over quality.
WTOL really needs to rethink how they prioritize news stories, especially with this app. At best, their definition of "Breaking News" is marginal, and the top stories in the app certainly are not anywhere close to what most of us think should be there. Example...today, their top story, encompassing the entire screen, is the story about reserving your tickets for the free St. Jude Dream Home. While an obviously worthy cause to support, I would hardly consider that the most important concern.
I don't care for the new update. The weather was way better on the old version. It seems, much like their website, they updated it so they could put waaaaaayyyy more ads in it. Used to be the only site/app I used because they had the fewest ads....Not anymore. I got rid of it.
Downloaded the update and now I'm constantly getting notifications pop up even though I've turned off the notifications. Plus the ads are ridiculous! I appreciate the reply but disabling the notifications in the app itself should also stop them from popping up.
I enjoy watching WTOL 11 app. I love watching live news at 5 and 6 pm and 11 pm news.
Awesome a better edition !! Etc. Love it tells you at what"s happing in the weather!
I love the newscasters they give the news and they're funny and they're great I love channel 11
WTOL use to sent out text messages announcing school closing and delays.... They no longer do this. I wish they would return to informing parents of this. It was very convenient, reliable, and a time saver.
I enjoy the app. It's a great way to keep up on my local news and weather on the go on my mobile device.
Informative and helpful plus easy to navigate app
The app works fine, but much of the articles are left in place way too long. Some are left up for months (yawn). Not much world news either.
This app is very good with the weather alerts and very up to date and very informative, I also like the Breaking news especially crashes and Severe weather conditions . It helps keep me and my Family Safe.Thank You to all the Anchor and Weather peeps.
Channel 11 News is one of the best new stations that I watch
Love the new design, it is so functional and easy to use. Everything seems to load properly and there are not as many missing links.
Breaking stories never load when you tap them form the notification. App is slow and lacks continuity. Very much amateur looking .
Great app. All the news you need in one place
The older version wasn't that great. the update is absolutely terrible. more ads and pop-ups than news. I'll get my news from Channel 13
This app. Is very well put together and well maintained. I love the school closings and delays too. Helps on those days when just not sure if the kids got school or not!
I have to manuever around with cursor on app to click on two different play tabs to start it play, once it starts playing, it works ok, I also use the tab to enlarge screen, are there instructions to make it easier?
New app can't zoom in on pics or videos , also font too small almost need a microscope to read it. After reading some reviews maybe WTOL needs to get a new website developer
I hope the update improves the app so that when I click the ""lead", it actually opens that story instead of a different one.
What's the point of this app? It's faster to go to their website as the app is insanely slow to load. The content on the app is hours old. You can find more up to date and more accurate information on their website. Their website is a better option all around. Not sure what changes they have made lately, but it (this app) REALLY has gone down hill. It's pointless if you want up to date information. It has failed me several times over the last few weeks compared to a 10 second Google search.
