One of the best GPS app, but too bad it's still one of the only GPS app that's still has no android auto or apple carplay compatibility. I've bought a brand new car and I cannot use it in it because of that lack of compatibility. Come on who do you think still stick an ugly phone support on the windshield, with a phi à hanging from it in a 2019 car with enormous touch screens
Since the last update, I cannot close the app. It asks me if I want to quit, I say Yes, but in the notification is still there. I have checked the "don't run in background" option. Before this last update, all worked well. Even closing the app doesn't help. A reboot is necessary. Android 12. Edit: it happens only when I have connected it with Android Auto. When I disconnect my phone from the car, it is impossible to close the TomTom app, besides a reboot.
Very good but some niggles. I have re-routing set to "Manual" (check with me before taking different route) but it still tries to direct me off its usual route with no announcement or explanation. Other than that I'm very happy with the app, the map display is far better than Google Maps or Waze. Update 25 May 2022 - the recently added route bar on Android Auto I found to be confusing. I expected the destination "chequered flag" icon to appear at the top, instead it seemed about halfway up.
So far, disappointed. Just installed, and already a road closure that isn't on the map. Google maps has it. Map is just updated after installing. Don't know yet how to report stuff, or there isn't anyway to do so, but very disappointed. Starting off not able to fully trust the navigation. Also, not awesome that there aren't any layers, but maybe once i get adjusted to it, that won't matter.
Generally my experience is positive. Though there are two niggles that bother me: speed limit is often incorrect perhaps due to poor GPS or outdated information in your system, and more annoying is verbal warnings which simply do not work as every time I go into settings and turn verbal warnings on I get none for a start then when I go back into settings I find them off again!
I love the look of this app, the offline maps, privacy, and the general navigation experience is excellent. Excellent integration with Android Auto is appreciated. But, I am constantly searching for destinations that it is not able to find. Restaurants and gas stations that have been around for years are not listed. I can't rely on this to navigate with so many missing places.
I'll change this rating either up or down later depending on the response I get to it. I just installed this as a possible alternative to Google maps as I'm getting tired of being data mined. Installation and downloading of maps went smoothly, but I was then confronted with a subscription offer "STARTING AT $29.99 PER MONTH". What the hell is this company thinking? Yes its a nice looking app and yes it apparently works with android auto. But there is no way in hell I'm paying $30 per month.
Not a bad app. Sometimes the map freezes. But my work around is to switch to google maps and thn switch back. I like the fact that it shows what speed I am going where google doesn't. I like the off-line maps and voice control. Works reasonably well. Well worth the subscription. I use it on a Samsung S20fe in Android auto on my car infotainment system. My rating is actually 4.5 stars.
I have the device which is perfect. The app needs finishing. Edit: Please note that I find the orientation does not keep up as you drive, kind of lagging response and it's a problem on motorway intersections and city streets. It would also be great to share a Google maps pin directly with the Tom Tom app. I know that might be a tall order.
The app has the best traffic and routing I have found and have used it for many years now. Very disappointing customer service. The subscription service is rubbish. I have paid until Oct 22 as showing on my Google account even though it has 6 months to run. Since the last update I can't use the app unless I pay £20. I email them and they do nor respond. I have had problems like this before. It makes it barely worth the trouble.
I have been using Tomtom Amigo for months and really have enjoyed the experience. Now I am moving on to Tomtom Go. When the trial period is over, I will definitely purchase an annual subscription. I like the clean uncluttered look when I connect to my Mazda CX-5. The only criticism is the speed limit and actual speed reading at the bottom is rather tiny, although there is the audio warning. I would like the ability to import personal POI'S if it is possible? Overall, though I'm please.
Since changing to Samsung S22 ultra, app has stopped working. I know I'm not the only one experiencing this problem, but tom tom just keep saying they are working on it, but it keeps rumbling on with no solution. If you can't fix it, refund us or get the problem fixed quickly. Update 13/03/22 app now fixed after nearly 3 weeks. Come on tomtom. Great that you fixed it, but that was a long time coming. Was almost ready to cancel my subscription which would have been a shame as I do like the app.
Fastest I have ever uninstalled an app. Maybe my expectations were a little high but I assumed I'd be able to put in destination's and be directed to them. Instead, I get "internal search error", which I can only assume is fancy talk for "you're using the free version". Google maps is superior.
Updating as the 7th April update has fixed the issue of the screen display changing while driving. That was my only major gripe. Loved this app but since the last update been unusable. Reading through the reviews see I'm not alone. While driving the banners at the top and bottom of the screen disappear, and the screen visibly changes - like the map is redrawing. it doesn't last long but is very distracting, happens often and potentially dangerous. Gone back to google for now. Shame as I had recommended this to others sho have bought it and have the same issue. Looks like this update was to fix issues for one particular phone model - any chance other people can roll back to the previous (working) version please? Thanks.
I love this app. The interface is nice and clean. The reason for three stars is some of the things this app is missing. On Android Auto no option to look for alternate route, please add it. Also, I was travelling to India last month and tried to download offline map but it's not available. I know TomTom is present in India so please add it.
It needs a major update. It became quite out of date in terms of the UI. It's clumsy and inefficient. I took it on a Europe road trip recently with premium sub, and downloaded all maps for countries I visited, and the speed limits are wrong in roughly 50% of cases when I needed them, the routing itself got me to the destinations, but often via routes of less than desired quality, manual re-routing is quite difficult unless you stop completely for few minutes. The UI needs rework for efficiency!
Would have been 4-5 stars if latest update did not mess up the upper directional display panel and bottom speed display gadget. These reappear but they were working before. The pronunciation of the some road names are also messed up, I think after the migration to a different map supplier a little while ago. 05/04/2022 The suggested workaround from Tomtom is to use the Samantha voice. However, this is American and I am based in the UK, thus I would to use the UK accent. As I said, this was working before - I think before the migration to the new maps, so it was some time ago.
I have been a TomTom customer since 2006 when I bought my first TomTom XL. I am used to paying for offline maps. I am delighted this is now available for Android Auto. I find TomTom's route selection and on-route directions superior to Google Maps. TomTom doesn't show you random franchises left and right, but the names upcoming cross streets, so you learn about your surroundings on the way. TomTom provides reliable routing even when there is no cell coverage at all, and that's what I want.
This app keeps insisting that my subscription has expired on my new phone, but it still works on my old phone. As soon as I open the app it insists on charging me for another subscription and gives me no other option. When I login to my TomTom account all my satnav devices are listed but not my TomTom Go subscription. Update: fixed by uninstalling the app and reinstalling - it seems that previously the app associated itself with another Gmail account on my phone (not my phone's account). Further update: I like the native app but the interface on Android Auto is poor. It does not handle average speed cameras well, unlike its free sister product AmiGO, and sometimes thinks they are standard speed cameras and gives regular alert sounds throughout the distance of the average speed cameras. It also does not display your actual average speed. The Android Auto interface also has no progress bar or warning of traffic delays. All in all AmiGO has a better Android Auto interface BUT you cannot set a route on AmiGO unless there is a data signal to your phone. Waze has similar issues. There must be a good app for Android Auto out there somewhere...
Still 1 star, You have now released what I wanted but for all models after mine (GO 6200 ect). I like my TomTom navigational GO 6100 with lifetime updates for maps, traffic and speed cameras. Thats why I paid over £300 for it. I would love this app on my phone. But I don't want to pay for a subscription service, that's why I bought my GO 6100. Can TomTom look into adding this feature to my GO 6100. I would be happy to pay a one time upgrade fee. Looking forward to your reply. Thanks. One year later and no communication from Tom Tom.
App is broken. Used to be awesome. Paid for TomTom for more than 10 years but I'm not sure how much longer. Got in touch with customer support, who told me to reset the app. Which I did - then I couldn't download my maps. So I uninstalled it and deleted the data. Then reinstalled and downloaded maps and traffic worked fine (great) - For a day... Then it stopped working again. Did the same again... But now my drive won't sync and still no traffic... Do I give up and cancel my sub? Or wait?
One star is far too much for the application! I reached version 3.4.7 and it is my intention to remove the App. TomTom team- do you ever test what you produce? Your updates take hours and what we get is a slower, crashing and extremely annoying application! Thank you Team. You have managed to completely destroy what was the best SatNav! Congratulations!
working very well up to press, would definitely consider a paid subscription as it is.😀 Update....., Since reinstalling, price has doubled!!. Service is worse, why does TomTom not recognise road partitions?, If an estate has only one way in at either end then the nav should take you to the correct entrance. Most annoying and not acceptable under current subscription charge. Update... , I was an existing subscriber but I'm paying double. The road I mentioned is only one of probably thousands.
I have been using TT in last 10 years. General impression was always positive. Unfortunately every new recent update brings more new bugs. The latest causes the application to use internal storage of the phone, no matter what setup the user enforces. Even when it says in configuration external memory on use, in reality it is the internal memory. With the huge capacity of maps it canabilises entire internal memory, even having only narrow selection of maps stored. So sad..
