What they say about TonePrint!“Every once in a while, you plug into a pedal, and, suddenly, you’re transported to Tone Paradise. That’s the Hall of Fame Reverb. This is one of the smoothest, most cinematically musical reverb pedals I’ve ever heard. I’d have no problem dumping my fancy convolution reverb plug-ins in the studio, and use this pedal to process vocals, drums, percussion, strings, and more. I’m so taken with the Hall of Fame that I call it the “Motivator,” because every time I plug into it, its sounds inspire me to create new riffs and melodic lines.”
- Art Thompson (Guitar Player)

”Once the TonePrint is installed you’ll hear the way that particular artist wanted his pedal sound. It’s a great idea, works like a treat and indeed has loads of potential. The TonePrint concept is much more than a clever marketing idea. It’s a real treat to be able to play with the sounds that inspire some of these amazing players.”
- Dan Steinhardt (Guitar Buyer)

“My new favorite delay is TC Electronic’s TonePrint delay pedal that they just came out with; the reason why it’s my favorite is because they let me go in and design the parameters of what I wanted. It was fantastic!”
- Steve Morse (Deep Purple)

“TonePrint pedals give players the ability to explore sonic modifications on a whim and get a quick dose of inspiration.”
- Charles Sauflay (Premier Guitar)

“I like the idea that, using mystical TonePrint cyber-voodoo, I could set the range of each knob in such a way that each of those three sounds would be easy to access in real time, by turning each knob to an obvious setting like "12 o'clock" or to "all the way up". This way, you get a decent variety of tones at your disposal, all from a single pedal
- and you can switch from one tone to another in a matter of moments.”
- Guthrie Govan (about his TonePrint for Corona Chorus)

App closes when on boards page and then connecting Bluetooth!!! Can view board on PC app connected via usb but not on phone via Bluetooth! Very frustrating as can't take my PC to gigs!!! Tried emailing TC via the email given on play store but just got a message rejected email back. Will try emailing them through website but not holding up much hope for a fix!!

Great app when it actually works, continued force close when moving to editing the board, connection is not great and once the app closes the Bluetooth connection is closed and you have to re-pair devices! Please fix errors as this has all the opportunity of being a great system when it does what it is meant to!

As soon as I tap on the boards tab, the app crashes. Tried using USB OTG instead of Bluetooth and same issue. Updated my Plethora to the new firmware hoping it would fix the issue, but nope. App is still useless.

This app is terrible! All I want is to edit the names of my boards so I'm not left with one called "Whitesnake". But I guess here I go again on my own.... Even had some issues with the firmware of the pedal in previous updates.

Utter c**p! Updated Plethora X5 to the latest firmware this app version should support. Crashes as soon as connects to the Plethora. On Samsung S21, on Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, on Huawei P30... Useless. App used to work, but not anymore. Without it Plethora can't be used in full and the one single thing that made me decide to buy the pedal is gone. Considering filing a lawsuit against TC Electronics as I'm sick and tired of companies that sell half-products. This is the final straw.

Buggy. Can't back out of most menus so I have to keep quitting and restarting. If you try to grab a second tone print from the same artist, it will show the wrong tone print so you have to quit and restart, then navigate back to the artist. This is mostly a pain when you want to add a bunch of tone prints to your favorites list. Otherwise, it seems to work when beaming to your guitar once you get the placement of your phone over the pickups just right.

As of the latest version, many problems seem to have been fixed. I can edit the toneprints and beam them or send them directly via USB. It is still difficult to interpret what the settings really mean, but at least you can hear them and do some trial and error. They need a much more in-depth manual or instructions. I am using this on a Quintessence and an HOF2. Both sound very good, but it is hard to know what each tweek relly means.

Very inconsistent on actually beaming through your guitar. It will make the sound but the light on your pedal won't flash. The worst part of this is that it constantly crashes and gets stuck. For example, you go into Flashback menu and see a setting you'd like to try. You beam it successfully and then you want to look through the Hall of Fame reverbs. You press back and you cannot exit the menu you're in. It won't go back to the main first page. You have to force close or reset, annoying😕

App BADLY needs an update. Flat out doesn't work with Plethora X5, says Toneprint has transferred to the device but nothing happens. Might as well not exist. Tried it with someone's iPhone and the iOS app works sporadically, but at least it works sometimes, unlike the Android version. Stuck using the Windows version for now, which obviously wouldn't work if I needed to change something on the fly.

Would be 5 stars if I could save custom TonePrints from my PC to my phone. The pedal is amazing, the ability to beam different TonePrints is amazing, the TonePrint editor on PC is amazing. But you can't send your custom TonePrints from your PC to your phone, which means once you find your own settings you loose all the amazing customisation options since you can't load your sounds without connecting to a computer.

SamsungGalaxyS7/Spectracomp. The concept is great, but there are a few glitches I would love to see corrected.1)Crashes every time I go to open a template after saving.2)Unchecked auto make-up gain is checked automatically after saving and re-entering.3)Low X-over level turns "off" after saving then re-entering.3)Even with knob unassigned to a value, other parameters are changed after saving then going directly back into the toneprint you just saved. I love the Spectracomp!!!

It won't beam anything to the pedal, even though the light flashes indicating it is "hearing" the app. Worse still, the editor won't run on my laptop without a missing program warning that google shows is a very common problem right now. Not cool. I had high hopes for this pedal but I'm going to return it. I should have settled for the boss.

I much prefered the older version where I could see the details and what each knob controls in every preset. Now I can see more details but only when connected to the pedal via USB. Not very useful in an emergency situation on stage when the pedal crashes while playing and looses the toneprint. Along with randomly resetting Hypergravity pedal I can't see how this can be used in professional environment - sadly, because the idea is great.

I had an older version for my TC Chorus which worked. I had to reinstall it on my phone and put in the new one on the same android. It is garbage. was about to buy the mini chorus. Going to by a different brand. too bad it does not work anymore. Crashes any time I try to beam. nice upgrade.

It crashes every time I try to open the boards tab. It can't be opened nether via Bluetooth it thru OTG connection.

barely usable. guys there's a lot to improve here. just to give few examples: 1 - should be able to filter on any device so that i don't see all others which I'm not interested in. 2 - should remember last beamed toneprint so that when i get back to the instrument I know what's in there. 3 - favourites list should be accompanied by a tagging system so that i can group sets of effects together. guys, you've got a lot of work to do before i can give you 5 stars

Tried this app on two different android devices, a Motorola phone and a Samsung tablet. In both cases the same fault: after putting an effect into favourites the app freezes and crashes. Not an intermittent problem, this happens every time. Really spoils what is otherwise a good bass combo system.

Doesn't work on MotoX or Kindle HD8 - otg works for other things on these devices (keyboard, usb drive, mouse etc) but not TC pedals. I have both Alter Egos, Trinity, Hypergravity - won't recognize thru usb and allow editing (works perfect on Win 7 pc). Disappointing - as the toneprint thing is a really cool idea. Just not implemented well in the android side of things. NO diagnostics either to even see if the usb is even trying to connect - just no "edit" pencil available. Note interesting how the android is version 4.0.06 vs the PC version of4.1.06 - maybe there "might" be an update? TC is no help at responding to any of this BTW.

Buggy as hell. TC has neglected to fix their Android app for a long time. This app almost never works. The app is so bad that I've decided not to buy several toneprint pedals I was interested in, because I know the toneprint app will not work properly 99% of the time. I sold my flashback mini because this crappy app never worked, and I couldn't change toneprints. Fix your app TC.

Col. W. Jun 9, 2020

The tone print beam feature works fine for me with Samsung s10. I have the alter ego x4 pedal which is not listed in the app, but you use the flashback x4 toneprints with it. Most of The artists that have made tone prints are not known to me (I am in my 50s if that helps). I think that the artist toneprints should be listed by band or by song an not just there name. I did however find several variants of slapback which I like with different tones and a print from a cure member.

Ken. M. Apr 21, 2020

I've never once been able to beam a toneprint to my BG250 amp with this app, trying two different basses and a guitar. And on top of that, the computer app I downloaded for my laptop won't open anymore either, so I'm stuck with the prints that I have for the foreseeable future.

Sie. R. May 13, 2021

Update: The last update has fixed all the issues from before. Toneprints take the first time now. Original review: It takes 20-30 time to get the sound to update, if it ever does. I'm stuck with a sound I hate because it won't update after trying for 30 minutes.

A. G. u. Jun 18, 2019

I can't get the Toneprint app to work either. Google Play Store says it downloaded but it doesn't show up in my list of apps, and when I use the app search function on my phone I still can't find it. (EDIT): working better now. Some of the problems were operator error!
