After buying a Sony TV specifically because they didn't push ads, I was very disappointed to see that the first update to Android 8 pushed ads like other TVs. But this app makes all that clutter of garbage go away and gets rid of all ads. Completely customizable so I have only the apps I use in the sizes and places that I want and no more "recommended" clutter anywhere. And I can set anything I want as a background image. Sony is now pushing Android 9 updates, but I won't update until I know it doesn't break use of this app. Thank you for a great launcher that's beautiful and fully customizable yet uncluttered.
Absolutely love the complete control over customisation to get things perfectly the way you want with a very clean and modern aesthetic. I would love to see a feature implemented to customise the app drawer and settings icons as I feel the default don't quite fit in with the modern design. Overall a fantasic app that I could spend plenty of time (or no time at all) to get my home screen exactly how I want it to look. -Nvidia Shield TV (2017)
Fantastic! Easy to configure. I had two questions and the developer replied right away. This app replaces the Android TV home app on a Sony Bravia TV... because of the ads. If you have a Sony and want to get rid of the ads, this is a great choice. Highly recommended! BUT WAIT! It gets better... the same developer has an app called "Sideload Channel Manager 2". This allows you to completely replace the Android TV Home app on a Sony TV. See my review for SCL2. It does everything TTL2 does & more!
Edit: Best launcher out there if you want simple to configure, versatile, and a launcher that's not a resource pig. Works great with 4K. If you have an issue where there are no 4K resolution options after installing, just uninstall, change your Display settings from auto to manual with any of the 4K resolutions, restart the device, and install again. Seems to be a problem caused by the generic launchers on some media devices.
The very first launcher I have used for my Android tv box. It is both simple, yet very accomodating for the "conrol freak" in all of us. Very worth the purchase. My Android tv box came with Android 9.0 installed, but the launcher was lackluster to put it nicely. I even have my weather widget and favorite pic on the homescreen. The best part is I did not have to root my device to get this level of simplicity and control.
I have Top TV Launcher 2 on two differnent TV Boxes. I've been using Nova Launcher on one of the boxes for some time but it's not as good on a TV box as it is on a phone. After you get the hang of setting it up it is bullet proof which is very important on my wife's TV Box...she just wants it to work and look nice...and Top TV Launcher 2 does.
love using this as my launcher on the Mi Box. i have mine set to be very minimalist with custom icons i made. i think a decent additional feature would be the ability to set custom icons for the Apps / Settings tray at the bottom. or add sound effects, but that's just wishful thinking. thank you!
Very nice launcher, I was looking for one for a while for my Sony TV. Once you get the hang of it is easy to config the way you like it. One question regarding the screen saver, it looks like it doesn't kick in at all like it was before. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Let me know please. Great work.
I tried a few launchers and this is my favourite. It's easy to use and very customisable. I've a question for the dev: Do you have any idea how to make this the default launcher on an Nvidia Shield without rooting? The old method (clearing the default launcher which provided a prompt to choose a new launcher) no longer works. Thanks! Edit: To add, 'Set Default Launcer' in Top TV Launcher doesn't work either.It just kicks me back to the home screen. Edit 2: Fixed! Downloading an app called 'Sideload Launcher' on the Shield seems to trigger the choose launcher prompt - at which point Top TV Launcher 2 can be selected.
I LOVE this TV launcher. It’s great, and meets and I would give it 5 stars - BUT: (1) PRIMARILY - It cannot be set as my default launcher on my Mi Box S. (It just says ‘Limited Compatibility’) I’d be thrilled to give it 5 stars if I could get this to work. Has anyone been able to to do this??
Super app. Thanks. Two suggestions. Allow an iptional WiFi/ethernet status icon to be displayed. Also, allow a Square Tile to be text box where any text can be entered (example: 'Games'). 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hi, I've installed this on our TCL android TV. The app works in terms of customisation as I wanted but I can't get it to launch as the default home screen. Can you help? Thanks Julian
I really wanted to like this. I've been playing around with it, on and off, for about 4 days. No matter what I do, I cannot get it anywhere near the look and functionality of the launcher that came with my Nvidia Shield. It's basically a good product, and I'm not griping about the money I spend on it. I just don't see any reason to use this instead of the native launcher.
Best of the best for Android TV boxes and it also works well on the Shield. I've tried all of the launcher apps and this outshines them all.
Worked great Had the paid for version for a while, brilliant, love it. However since the latest shield TV update I cannot set the launcher as my preferred launcher. Is anyone else suffering? Are the Devs aware? Will it be fixed soon? Pleeeeease.
Makes Android TV so much better looking on my Nvidia Shield. as of 2 shield updates ago TopTVLauncher2 sticks as my home screen without any hackery. also developer came through with the passcode update, so people don't mess with settings.
Are any of the DEV team available? I have purchased this great app but trying to install it on a 2nd Android Box and it still shows I need to buy it again. I tried but got refunded. Is there anyway you can email me the .apk?
Great app Love it, I'm using it on my Nvidia Shield. Only question I have is about the widgets. In the past with other apps I have to use a adb shell command to allow the shield to use widgets. Is there a command for this one as well? Or is the only way to remove the stock leanback launcher. Sorry, never hurts to ask, lol Thanks, Danny
My TV won't allow it to be the default. It is customizable but my set just opens the original. Google refunded.
Best launcher I've tried for my h96 pro android box. Can I save the launcher as I need, for other reasons, to factory reset the box, and i want to reinstate the launcher exactly how I've got it.
What a wasteful time to purchase this app. So excited on the demo because it is working well.. once paid crapy lags and bug's.

REVIEW UPDATE: April 2020 I hope that this review update will be read by the team at DXIdev. Top TV Launcher is really great. HOWEVER, the app stopped working shortly after I purchased it. Please let me explain. I have a Sony TV, naturally without root access. The Top TV Launcher app is running in the background but doesn't load when I turn the TV on. More actually said, it loads but only in the background. Furthermore, I can still configure the app and it looks great. But, the TV switches back to the Sony default home page as soon as I switch between apps or press the home button. I use the Top TV Launcher setting options to change the home default to Top TV Launcher. But, the setting option does not respond when I click it. I realize that this is probably due to the Sony android system. but, it is frustrating because the Top TV Launcher app is really great. Unfortunately, I am not able to change the Sony TV home page default settings. I really like the app but am not able to use it. I would really appreciate it if the DXIdev team can give me any ideas, suggestions or solutions for the problem ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A FANTASTIC App manager that literally changes your android TV viewing experience. I (and I am sure countless other people) have always been frustrated by companies with TV Apps that can’t be properly managed. I personally wish to have my TV personalized in a fashion that correlates with my needs and wishes. This was never really possible due to preinstalled Apps that can’t be deleted, a TV home page that is cluttered with Apps that I don’t need nor want, etc. Top TV Launcher 2 makes it possible to change how I manage and view Apps. Thus I can eliminate all unwanted Apps. change the symbol size and order. The settings in Top TV Launcher 2 are easy to use and self-explanatory. The interface is very well programmed. Top TV Launcher 2 also does not conflict with the TV Android system. Rather it is very compatible. You can place your apps where you wish and how you wish. More importantly you will not see any App that you don’t want to use. And still the options in Top TV Launcher 2 offers you easy access to all Apps and to the preinstalled TV system.
