For nearly 7 years ive used torguard and my machines work great, I get price reduction for loyalty and love that. I use on Windows and Linux and all works well. Understanding how VPN's work means I protect my identity, torguard provides the secure socket which helps with that.
works about 10% of the time. the other 90% it either wont connect, connects but doesnt allow any traffic or connects and is too slow to actually do anything. most of the us west coast servers don't seem to work.
Working good for me now. I did not get the email with the separate username and password for the actual app which differs from the one you create. Thanks!
The last update completely broke the app restriction option. It now only pulls system apps and I can't go in and change anything
Amazing tech support, always get things working perfectly. The app (and PC version) work great, with all the features I need. Lots of good options and multiple configurable features for each situation. Tech support people (like Kenny, who I just talked to) have always been outstanding. They are extremely knowledgeable and really care about the client. This is really one of the most important things for me. Thanks for a great product and tech support team. Would recommend this to everyone.
Great VPN/Proxy. I'm sure many folks can do just as good of a job manually, but if you don't have the time, knowledge, or desire to do so and keep up with it, this is a wonderful alternative. It is a pay service, but the purchase options are robust. Can get features piece meal or in bundles. I went with a hefty features bundle with 5 connections for only $19/three months(quarterly). Has nice Chrome and Firefox extensions too. Highly recommend!
Perhaps it is time to consider 2 versions of this APP. I upgraded to the latest. What I found was it constantly disconnected. I also had fewer choices in servers. 😧 I was using an older version and it stopped working. Maybe a change in the servers? I downgraded the new version to a version in between. Before this. I can connect to more servers easily and stay connected for hours. A must as I'm working in China. Everyone does not have the latest Android. Some due to older devices or just choice. The NEW androids always change so much that's why I keep older app versions. The apps updated for NEW android won't work well on older devices that haven't been updated. It's time for a Torguard app aimed at perhaps Android 6 and down. Then one at 7 and newer. Simple as that. Your new app seems not to work on my older android version.
The UI gets progressively worse with new app updates. The proximity sorting option is now broken. I'm in the US and for some reason it's telling me that S Africa or New Zealand are faster than anywhere in the Americas. No way to tell if the top of the list is fastest or slowest. But if I filter by region, it shows the farthest cities at the top. Counterintuitive
Android app works well. The killswitch is effective and it does a good job of protecting my identity. I don't do anything without being connected. The two games I play on my phone are mostly unaffected by the VPN, but I do experience occasional disconnects when playing one of them. (Runescape) It's not a big problem I'll just disconnect the VPN when playing and reconnect when I'm finished.
Every time I try to connect to the VPN, I would have to sit there and go through every US server to see which one connects, even one that worked the day before. I have to spend at least 5 minutes to do this. I don't have this problem with their desktop app on my Windows laptop, so the problem must be this app. Once my subscription is up, I might go for another service that has better Android app support. That's too bad because the service and speed are good.
I just installed the app and tried to connect, unfortunately I couldn't because there where no servers listed.I mean, I'm a bit frustrated because it took me a while to figure out where was I supposed to click to start the connection, once I did that, an empty servers screen popped up. I haven't been able to use my brand new subscription since there's no way to use the app, man. I hope to get a solution soon to even think about keeping my account:/
Updated review: I really like the new UI design for TorGuard. It's a lot more modern and better than the old design. I've been using TorGuard for few months now and speeds have been very consistent and very fast. It's definitely one of best if you want those fast speeds. I've had no DNS leaks so it's very secure. Also support is top notch!
It's a pretty good VPN but quite a bit more expensive than most, and you have to pay significantly more on top of that if you want to use streaming services from other countries as without the specific streaming add-on you are blocked by Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, etc. If they make the add-on standard or drop the base price significantly I'd probably give 5 stars, but as it is those are fairly significant drawbacks. You do get better and more low-level settings than most any other VPN I know of.
TorGuard's VPN service is very efficient and affordable. Lots of servers to choose from. The app itself does not consume much battery and doesn't heat my phone at all. I personally like using this VPN when playing games ridden with ads that pop up every second because it has an option where you can block ads on apps you want. Unfortunately, it isn't compatible with Netflix. But overall, my experience with this VPN service is great.
Most importantly, it stays connected. I wanted faster, it was seemingly slow at 1 to 2 MB per sec, I have a 200mbps connecting... Finally did a speed test, 100+ mbps! They cannot control others' upload speed or others internet throttling. A negative, I wish the app would would do anything to let you know that it stopped protecting the connection, it does not disconnect the network, it does not shut down an app, it merely puts a faint slash on its notification icon, revealing all information.
Wireguard is here and it works (kind of) ! Love it. It connects and verifies, but then after some time starts to look for server host name and gets stuck on detecting. I had noticed the same issue with the desktop app, but there you can switch it off in the Network options. No such option is available here though.
I had to clear the cache and data in order to be brought to a login screen. And once I entered my credentials, it just shows a loading screen (rotating loading circle) and never actually logs me in. Until this is fixed the app is completely useless. If it's not fixed by the time my billing cycle ends, I'll be finding another provider. This service has continually gone downhill in the last year, with random disconnects and reconnection issues.
I use VPN mostly to be able to watch french TV on my nvidia shield as I don't reside there. So I have been testing different providers. It's the third I am trying. Speed is good, no buffering issue at all. Installation and setup on windows and android phone was smooth. However, I struggled a bit on my NVidia shield, I first entered a wrong password and then I kept getting failed authentication errors after trying the re-enter the password at least the at next 5 subsequent attempts. In the end I decided to uncheck "remember password", restarted the device and I finally managed to get it connected. I may have been very clumsy when I typed my pass the first times or they were really something wrong with the app. But I would have liked to have the feature that allows us to unmask the password you are typing.
Torguard is a good company, fair prices and often offers 50 percent off promos. I've used them on and off for a few years. The app is pretty good I think they should add some sort of restricted network tester to find the best connection method while on a heavily firewalled or filtered network. Good app, good VPN works 99 percent of the time, there are situations where connecting requires you to mess with shadowsocks thus my request for easier stealth VPN selection.
Great team behind the VPN - I was having some issues with Wiregaurd and their client, and they worked hand in hand with me to determine the error. I love the features such as lan bypass (please know what you are doing), the latest opvpn support, the ability to pin your favorite ips, and more. They are *super* responsive when you have a question, and are super helpful! Purchased the 1 year plan!
The app is a little dated but all the options are there to give you all choices you might want and then some more. Also impressed by quick the service is. Leaving the VPN active hardly slows down my ADSL2+ broadband connection. Barely notice I've got a VPN running when on 4G. Excellent. 😊 P.S. Thanks for your reply. Looking forward to the new U.I.. 😊
Changing my review to 2 stars because the following keeps happening: Keeps disconnecting. Difficult to restart after being kicked. Doesn't handle network switching well. Update: Still plagued by constant disconnects that don't reconnect. Torguard app just spins. No idea if/when it will reconnect. Super disappointed. Looking for a new vpn provider now. 😟
It's performs pretty well, my only issue with it is the battery drain, even when the app isn't in use it still stays in the background draining battery. I found a partial fix in the app section of my phone settings where I can get it to completely stop the moment I close the app, the background battery drainage isn't there anymore but while using the app its still very power hungry. Something needs to be done about the battery efficiency of this app.
I have used Torguard on my PCs, Android devices, and iOS/iPadOs devices for at least 2 years, and have never had any significant issues. Ping times are good, especially for FULL-on complete VPN, and speeds from nearby servers are almost always at least 25 Mbps & often significantly higher... 50-75+ Mbps is not uncommon. Customer service has always been very good as well. I am very happy with Torguard and have no intention of leaving unless things change. Keep up the great job Team TG!
Torguard, for my money, is the best VPN around. If you're using a VPN to bypass a firewall, this is the one for you. I use it to get unrestricted internet access at my workplace, and with a little configuration (read Torguard's page on the subject) I was able to get a functioning connection even though the firewall blocks VPNs. When my connection slowed way down (probably due to IT reconfiguring some things) I just switched ports and everything worked again. Highly configurable with good speed.
I love the VPN service, it works awesome. The only thing that needs improvement is the Android app. when switching between Wi-Fi and mobile connection, most of the time the app loses connection and I have to restart it to be able to use the internet.
This app is useless. Up until few days ago (when I was able to connect using Android's built-in VPN capability), I would connect in a few seconds. But with this app I've never yet been able to connect: it just sits in its Reconnecting status, reconnecting and reconnecting and reconnecting and reconnecting but never actually completing the connection. Perfectly useless.
It's been a while since last update... Looks like the iOS gets updated more frequently. Works well on windows version 4.8.11. Speed are also much faster on windows than android 12L using the same settings. Edit: Version 1.60.5.P fixed the speed issue on my android. Its super fast now. Great job thanks to Dev.
