The game needs a combat testing method to allow players to work out their line ups and tactics. In battle things happen fairly quickly and the situation changes and then it is too difficult to try something different. It would be nice to understand why almost all the time my units special abilities either are not available or are not working. No ability to review the combat and understand why a tactic did not work - was an ability assigned to early or late or was it simply the wrong decision.

This game was promising but in the end it felt shallow. Management relies way too much on waiting for stuff to happen. I gave up when I found myself waiting for wheat to grow which is funny because of the expression "boring, like watching grass grow". At some point there is nothing else to do but wait. And waiting times often involves hours or days!!! The game loop needs to be rethinked. On a game the player needs to be engaged constantly, by giving him interesting challenges to solve.

Great game, top quality, probably one of the best quality strategy games your gonna see on mobile, not only is it unique from the other strategy games, it feels and looks realistic and its much more complex to control you lands and castles, you can do so many stuff, and the battles are good. The game is not pay to win at all! You should definitely give it a try, its an amazing game, however it might be complicated and confusing at the beginning, but its nothing that requires a mastermind.

I really enjoyed building my kingdom at first, while the buildings and resource gathering is unbalanced it was good enough and I really like the terraforming aspect. There are some other issues but the biggest are the battles. The weird lane system is terrible, the switching lanes, lack of control over units, no understanding of what's happening. It lacks any sort of strategy feel or a sense that this is my army I built, the two modes lack all sort of connection. Why can't I conquer for example?

[Edit] A small bug, farms spontaneously destroy roads replacing them with fields. A bit annoying. Draining stone to rebuild. So far the game's still catching my attention. Not too much repetitive tasks, not too automated, the challenge posed by climate and tile placement to build cities not to mention the battle system makes it a very good game. Good point to mention there's no add and it doesn't seem that paying is a sine qua non condition to progress in the game.

The game itself is great. I've been looking for a city building game where you can chose where things go and change the terrain for awhile and this is what I wanted. However the resources are an issue as it can take days to get enough to upgrade anything unless you spend gold and you don't have any way of earning gold. Personally I think it would be better if you could set an auto harvest/fell/mine for the resources as you have to manually do it each time and you only get 10 of each resource when you do it.

You have a good game and a solid foundation. My problem is you're servers and their habit of disconnecting every 2 mins. Some days it's better then others. This would not be a problem but if you get disconnected in a battle, even if you didnt lose any troops. It'll wound the whole army then you have to wait ages to try again. This curbs progression majorly. I will rate it higher once you fix the problem but for now this 1 star is to get you're attention on this gamebreaking issue.

I didn't get far in this game, I found it incredibly frustrating how the tutorial treated me like I was too incompetent to figure out what to do. Also the tutorial dragged on far too long. Why am I even attempting to play this game when I'm 30 minutes in and it's being played for me. I've always been a Total War fan on PC, but honestly this game seems like just another Kingdom building game. It was a huge let down with the actual battle screen scenarios. No zoom option, can only swap troops? Ugh

Sac. M. Mar 31, 2019

I like the rich graphics and overall theme. but important details are too tiny even after zooming in on my 5.8" screen. It has too many variables and factors making it confusing especially in a battle. On the other hand, playability is very limited because you don't get to change anything useful.

This game has a great OST and the Graphics are nice. Other than that it is pretty terrible. The pay2win mechanics are so ingrained, that after level 26 fights labeled "normal" are pretty tough to win with a non-gold-paid army. Unit upgrade costs 250 xp each (takes long and is undermined by small upgrades) AND that the unit building is upgraded (which costs three castles that connect, one upgraded castle AND the resources for the building upgrade). Unless you pay for gold on the regular you lose!

Very pay to win once you reach a certain point. Enemies are stupidly overpowered in comparison to your level. Masters have ridiculously unreasonable quests to be unlocked. They should be available as soon as you reach that rank. The cost to upgrade buildings is ridiculous considering the amount you get from each one. Overall it was fun for the first week but then it became a complete pay to win game.

This game needs some tweaks to be much better than I think it is. The archer cooldowns needs to be removed. Gold needs to be easier to get or troops need to require less gold. Crafting fails NEED TO BE REMOVED. That one is my biggest request. It's stupid to spend a week saving up resources just to not get anything. With these tweaks I think the game will be great. I dont think this game is pay to win I havent had to spend anything to get far in the game.

Awesome Graphics and all around almost perfect. However the matchmaking (as others pointed out) is, lets say, weird; the tribute for raiders/invaders is quite expensive given that troops are not always up to the task, plus the frequency in which enemies show up is quite annoying. Resource collection is too slow at times.

Mat. T. May 2, 2019

The game is geared far too heavily towards pay-to-win. There needs to be better reward for levelling up, such as access to better units, that you can work toward. At this stage I am at level 26 and have no reason to continue. Unless I buy gold I can't win duels or any missions worth fighting. Obviously writing this will change nothing as far too many people are willing to throw many into apps. Very sad.

good mobile strategy game, fun kingdom builder, the battles are simple yet interesting in organizing your army composition and positioning. however, on the kingdoms building, the game has a terrain deformation feature, letting you raise and lower the terrain around your kingdom. I accidentally dawned up a wrong river with caused my crops to die. tried removing it and the water wouldn't flow again. got a start over after about 6 hours in...

Average. Armies could be bigger and remove the fact that there is a cool down timer on moving troops and giving orders to archers. The map is to small and the battle quest campaign to short. Also far to restrictive on the amounts of units that can be used. All of the best units only allow you to recruit 1 which is stupid when you fight armies that have multiple elite units and reinforcements. Also needs an offline mode.

Pie. M. Dec 27, 2019

Frustrating. I can't believe it's a total war title. Battles are utterly retarded. The maps are a tiny little box and units move automatically in columns. There's a prompt to charge before the first clash but that's pretty much the only control you have over meke units apart from shuffling their position. You can also choose to 'taunt' enemy units which will bring them towards you as you're unable to advance your own. Also, targeting with archers requires rest time, universal to all ranged units

Great. Graphics are phonemanal, I like how you can't just build any building anywhere. Makes the game more interesting. Too hard to get gold in this game though. You have to pay if you want a lot to be good. Also the tributes to take another kingdom is ridiculious. 2000 of each recourse? Whatever. Great game. Keep doing what you're doing SEGA.

It seems that if Im willing to spend money, the game becomes more challenging in the hope that I would spend more money. I have fully dressed squads with medals and they still get wiped out in one fell swoop against easy targets. Doesn't seem right to me. Im spending money to enjoy the game. Not to watch it be wasted.

Kal. F. Dec 25, 2021

This game might require the occasional in-app purchase to keep your kingdom running, but that's the ONLY reason that I'm giving it four stars (instead of five). MOST games-as-service are straight-up money pits (I'm looking at you, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp), but this one's not so much. The only in-app purchases are for gold, so.........buy ONLY the gold that you absolutely need - and use said gold wisely. Just a minor caveat for what's otherwise the best "strategy" game that I've ever played.

Crashes when entering or exiting battles. Anyway the gameplay is quite fun, the seasons aspect makes up for the otherwise boring map/territory one has to grind the resources out of. In the recruitment section, the game does not spare you from showing the unit types (i.e. axemen) that you would be able to unlock if only you paid some golden premium currency for it. However there are no ads, so I pay respect to the developers that took the effort for a free game. I still play Rome II by the way :)

Lee. H. May 11, 2020

Overall, could be a lot better. Building up the settlements is entertaining and I think it's the best bit in the game. The fights are fun on the first half an hour of the game. After this time, the battles become quite repetitive and you can't progress much without paying or grinding.

Wil. J. Jan 12, 2021

As a fan of total war games, including the short lived total war arena, I had some hopes for this game. Sadly, those hopes were dashed. The battles are uncharacteristically boring and difficult to control for a Total War game. No amount of grinding is worth the lackluster combat. Duels, the in game PvP, are even less impressive. The only good part of this game is the city-building and resource management, but that gets boring with no meaningful reason to keep making progress.

Sco. P. Aug 11, 2020

The building aspect of the game is good but the battles and duels are so unrealistically hard you are always going to loose also it's great at the start as It makes everything easy for you but once you pass level 10 you have no hope of achieving anything let alone building your empire. What is the point in the advisor as he doesn't help he just tells you your towns flooded which you can see yourself only play if your willing to put lots of money into the game. I am deleting it

I think it would be better if it was offline because there is limited multiplayer experiences It would be nice to have proper invasions to expand and you can declare war on countries and have more diplomacy you want and station troops And it would be fun if there was a story mode tie-in to the Anglo-Saxon story and the English Heptarchy.
