Vehicle: 2019 Avalon Limited While useful, this app is rough around the edges. I sometimes have to restart the application to get the remote start to function. Not being able to set any software defined features, like climate control, is a minus as well. I have to set my car to the correct controls before exiting. I like the function this app provides, it is not necessarily a pleasant experience. Toyota is disappointing me on the software front despite them being one of the largest.
This app when it works, is great, but I find that it only works every other time you do something on it. It also asks for authentication constantly. Everytime to move to something else on the screen, it requires it. Very annoying. And with an app that doesnt function regularly and the annoyances involved, it still costs $80 a year to use the services. I need a more stable platform for that kind of money.
No bugs and no crashes. App works as advertised on my Android. Guess I have to agree with Brandon on this one re; having to subscribe to the app. Should be free. Definitely like the lock/unlock and remote start feature. Wish it would stay on when doors are opened. Seems redundant to have to restart the car AFTER starting it remotely. Car status feedback is also good.
It will not track real time location, now my car is in one location and it is not showing where it is. Also, I would like to be able to sound the panic like the one in the remote key. With the key you have to be close to the car. This something important to me and that I miss from my previous car that had the viper system. Can this two feature be added: the real time location and the panic button in the app?
$80 Bucks a Year, 25% Reliability The app rarely connects. Most mornings, I have to stop getting dressed to stand there and reset and restart the app 5 times for it to start the car- and thats only when its successful! Through most of the attempts I have made, it works about 25% of the time. It feels like you won the lottery when you see it actually lock doors or start the car. 2 Stars for a great idea with poor execution.
2019 Camry XSE: The app is slow and buggy. Constantly hangs up "Connecting" causing me to have to force close and restart the app. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts to get it to work. Considering how much it costs for the subscription after the trial period, it's dissapointing to say the least. Update: app quit working completely. Uninstalled and reinstalled, but it still doesnt work. Update 01/16/20: App is still hot garbage. I can't believe it costs $80/year for this.
So I had my fingerprint set up but app logged me out. Easy fix if you remember your password. No prob, just reset it. Should be an easy fix right? Wrong! It directs you to the website which tells me my web browser is not supported. Please download latest version. I have two of the 4 recommended browsers but the app doesn't recognize them. So I'm caught in a vicious cycle. Garbage
There's literally no reason why my 2019 Corolla Hatchback doesn't support Android Auto. Takes a good few seconds for the vehicle to respond to commands. I find it stupid how my car shuts off when opening the door after turning on the car via remote connect, as long as the key fob is detected, the car should remain on as with every other remote start feature. Besides that, the app is pretty good for what it is on my Pixel 2XL. Traditional remote start with the keyfob would easily suffice however.
It's GREAT but slow at times. I give it 3.5 stars. I stay in very cold states and the function has helped greatly to be able to warm up my car from anywhere. The app however, does get slow and doesn't process things as fast as I want it to but that doesn't mean I'll stop using it. I'm on the free trial period but will definitely be paying for it when that period expires. I love my car and all the perks it comes with. Thank you Toyota! #TeamToyota
The app is always hanging, trying to connect when starting engine. And gives me errors like "already in process." I have to reboot my phone or force stop to get the car to start sometimes. I feel like the app could use some enhancements. Update: This app/ service is useless! On two snowy cold days, my car refused to start remotely. I got error message to contact the dealer. But when the snow/ice was gone, car started just fine. The days I really need/want my car to start, it is a big let down!
After paying to get a key fob remote start unsalted at the dealer, nothing worked. Later I found out that if you have a key remote start installed by the dealer, this app won't work anymore. I ended up having to get the key fob remote start removed again in order to use the app. I've had to bring my truck into the dealer 3 times to get the remote start app to work. When it does work, the app is horribly slow and most of the time I just get error codes or it doesn't connect at all. Horrible.
Seems to work ok for the most part on my 2018 Camry but there's one critical flaw/bug. When you start the engine remotely, it turns back OFF when you go to unlock the doors. Whether using the key fob, or touching the door handle sensor. Both unlocking methods case the engine to stop. And you cannot remote start the engine with the doors unlocked for obvious reasons (someone can easily steal your car). I'm hoping this is a software bug that can be fixed with future updates then I would like it a lot. ***EDIT*** Oh geez.. well turns out this isn't a bug in the system like I guessed. It's doing exactly what it's designed to do. According to the literature in the Entune manual: "The engine or hybrid system will run for up to 10 minutes or until any door is opened, the brakes are pressed, or the engine is turned off remotely." So the minute you go to open your door to get in the vehicle, the engine turns off. Why would this be?! I'm starting the car remotely so that it's warm when I get to it! I don't want to have to start the engine twice every time. Think of the wear and tear to a battery and starter if you're constantly doing that. Bad thinking!
This app is very slow. Every other car starter I've used will lock the car while starting it. This car will go through the process of trying to start three times with an error before letting you know the car needs to be locked. It has connection issues a lot. It will also tell you the car is still processing the previous request, even if it was days ago. I've also had the app tell me the request did not go through when it did. I plan on buying a different car starter to avoid paying for this.
This app barely works. Remote start only goes through maybe 2 out of 5 tries. The fingerprint log in fails repeatedly. It's kinda dumb that I can unlock the app, immediately press the remote start button, and have it ask me to log in again. Very disappointing, this is the only option for me to remote start my vehicle with. 2 stars because at least the vehicle information can be useful, and it will tell me if I forgot to lock my vehicle.
Is that would be amazing if it consistently worked. I could be standing right next to my vehicle using the remote start or to unlock the doors and it will not work. It will have some type of error.the concept of being able to see fuel level and vehicle location along with security is great.
I reported bugs to the developer months ago... such as the fact that the app cannot handle phones with the screen set to large print. Still no fix. It also takes forever to confirm commands. And why do we need to put the pin in again for commands if we just put the pin in seconds earlier to access the app? The developer has never heard of a lock timer?
The app SUCKS! It worked great during the trial period & now that I've paid annually for it, it doesn't work 75% of the time. I have to delete & reinstall the app most days to get it to work. I login an hit remote start almost immediately & am asked to login again, how stupid. Like I said the trial period had me convinced to pay the $80 for it but it SUCKS! Fords app is FREE & works so much BETTER!
App doesnt always work. Sometimes when you try to start the car it will forever be stuck on "connecting" . I have to always close out the app and try again. Not super reliable especially if you think your car has been warming up in the cold when it hasnt even turned on.
I love the fact that I can use my phone to start, lock/unlock the car, 5 stars but... Why is this a service I have to subscribe to when so many other cars add it has an option/1 time fee added in the cost of the car? Why does it turn off whenever you open door/trunk to me that defeats the point of remotely starting car? Why are all of these Toyota apps that I was told to add are horrible? Why does Toyota not offer navigation as an add on option? can only get on the higher level trim models..ugh
This app is TRASH! Not all what I was expecting for the price I paid for the car. I can't roll the windows up or down, access moonroof or do anything besides start the car. The app is slow and buggy. Car location isn't accurate. Doesn't support Android. Go with an auto-start from the dealership.
push start should definitely be free considering the amount of money spent on the car. would be nice to be able to roll windows up/down from the app. definitely hate that the car shuts off after you open door even though you have your smart key. why is screen mirror option only with applecarplay???? very disappointed!
More than 50% of the time app is stuck at connecting when engine start is initiated and needs to force quit app. Often app says previously initiated engine start is still in progress and needs to wait or fix issue. Selecting fix issue does nothing. Needs to baby sit app always to make sure it worked. Sometimes app alerts the engine start is successful after one hour up to twenty-four later.
Overall this was not well thought out. There are too many apps to make the car work right with the Linux OS which could work better if it was designed right. They better fix it by having Android Auto and Apple as apps. That is the way things are going. You have your phone near you just like the key. They should work the same. Dev's need to jump on this ASAP!
the app works but its clunky. you need fingerprint for every interaction to and its slow to process things. why not start the connection as the app starts so it just needs to send the request for the action and get the confirmation. the notification could actually say what it triggered instead of juat that it triggered one. maybe if its doors unlocked or windows down give the ability to put them up etc. from the notification
I can't connect to the Toyota website to register my vehicle. I even downloaded Firefox when it told me that my web browser didn't support it, but it still wouldn't work. Don't bother. I was hoping this would help since I can't use my key without my alarm going off. Turns out Toyota just has a crappy remote start system all around.
For the price I paid for my car this should be free, and not a monthly fee. Remote start shouldn't turn off when you unlock the doors either. And that's when entune actually decides to work and not randomly crash. Seriously, Toyota should have just integrated android auto instead of attempting to reinvent the wheel. Between this and Scout, entune is decidedly lackluster
Save your money. It was already a rip off when Toyota moved remote start from your key fob to an app and hide it behind a subscription. The app itself barely works and when it does it is very slow to connect to your car and do anything. $10/month for a service that barely works.
Pretty useless. Get a real starter installed instead Sales team told me to install the app to remote start my car. It's a manual. So the app can only lock and unlock the doors... I can do that with my key fob? Why would I pay a subscription to do that? Right, the notifications about lock/unlock! They don't work. Not only that, but it takes forever to connect to the car and get a response back.
The app is unresponsive. It doesn't finish loading what this app does is that it goes blank as sign as I press (sign in). When I press (Register) the browser app says it can't load page. 😒 it's been over a year now with unresponsive loading, errors, and can't load nonsense. Sigh...
Worked fine during the trial period and so I thought I would subscribe... Ever since then, app works maybe 3 out of 10 times. It never works when its cold outside (when it is actually needed). I don't mind going outside to start the car but car won't lock when you walk away. I have even checked the settings for this and there is no way to lock the car and walk away when the car is off. App totally does not work anymore.
