Just setup the Power line adapter and extender. Downloaded this app and very pleased with how smoothly everything worked out and setup was very simple. I'm so glad it worked without any complication. The app along with written instructions that came with the adapter and extender were very easy to understand and follow.

The app seems to have little functionality, aside from being able to view the data rate, and turn the LED's off and on, there's not much else. I bought the devices & installed yesterday. The devices are working perfectly in the first 24 hours. Using this app to view each device properties, none of the passwords printed on the devices work. So I obviously need to look at TP-Link support pages for help in that direction. But I'm presuming there's a bug in the app.

It's a bit pointless. Every time I rename one of the adapters it just reverts after a few seconds to either the original name, or a random mix of characters taken from the name I want to give it and the name it originally had. Every option seems to be also achievable via the web interface. The actual hardware is great but this app is just pointless.

Like recent reviews mentioned, support for this app seems to have dropped. When opened recently all the names of my devices were reset to their default names and unchangeable. Soon after it stopped being able to detect any of my powerline devices. After much digging online, I found some community posts linking to a Windows app that worked perfectly. For some reason it the Windows app wasn't available on my local country's support page so a bit of digging is required. Poor experience overall.

Would be 5 star for the product. But the app is basic and poorly designed! For example, why use pale blue text on a white background! How about a colour that contrasts more clearly so it can be read more easily. Dropped to 1 star. Only randomly detects 1 of my 2 extenders at a time. Very, very rarely seems to find the main adapter and both extensions.

I was disappointed in the lack of thought put into making an app that actually cared about the customer experience. When internet frustrations happen, we turn to your apps for solutions and instead find poorly organized documents with no logic or direction; an afterthought. I was having trouble with my powerline extenders and advised to check the firmware. Seemed simple enough, till I spent more time fighting with the app to complete a simple task. Time to research new tech solutions.

The problem is both with the software and the hardware. Both of which are Tp-link's responsibility The hardware's lookup table will not auto update if you change any default settings after auto pairing. You will need to manually enter the powerline IDs to fix the disconnect issues. The software is a bit limited on the app. The web interface is much better and at least they bothered to develop a windows compatible option. They need to fix the lookup table issues with a new firmware though.

Terrible. Only detects the units it's connected to about half the time, then most of the time it states it 'can't access device settings' after that. Even when you do manage to connect, for the majority of settings you get directed to the web interface, which is terrible to use on a phone, so you end up needing a laptop anyway.

Works well enough but why a separate app? Why not use the 'Tether' app? It would be much easier to add the Powerline adapters there and then you could look after your router and adapters in one app. It seems that some newer Powerline / range extenders work in 'Tether' app though, why not merge them all? Other than that works fine, just need to make sure you're connected to WiFi from the Powerline/Range extender, not the router to see the item and make any changes in the app. (Go sit near it)

Doent work on listed compatible device. I have a TL-WPA4220 TKIT v4.0. The instructions, which specifically mention the model #, instruct me to go and use the app. The app doesn't find either of the extension devices. Tried when connected to both extenders, app doesn't find either of them. Fortunately the Windows app works just fine. Would have been really nice if the mobile app worked too.

As others have said, the app does not detect any of my powerline devices. Still having to use the old s/w on a laptop (how quaint!) The Powerline hardware is still the best though. Shame about the app... update 06/01/19: so I added a newly purchased Tl-WPA4220 today (latest v4.0 fw). I can now see all my older devices in the app too, but only when the v4.0 device is powered up. It seems there is no option to update fw on the older devices within this app either. Have upped from 1 to 3 stars.

This was so easy to set up and customize. I actually got it up and running before I ever looked at the instructions. Not sure why all the bad reviews, but this app works great. You do NOT even have to be on the same network (can be connected to your main router if and still detect these devices if configured properly).

Sent this to tplink, no reply. Hi, don't know what's going on with this app but I, like many other reviewers, are having multiple problems with it and would like to know if you are reading the reviews and acting on them please? It won't store device name changes and does not detect all 3 of my powerline adaptors although they are all online and working OK. Thanks

Just downloaded this. Shouldn't have bothered. Seemed OK, devices showed, but kept getting timeout errors when trying to change anything. I restarted my phone and now the app won't find any devices. It seems like a straightforward app, no idea why TP-Link wouldn't try to resolve the issues with it.

Absolutely useless. Doesn't allow me access to my powerline adaptor because it believes that the password is wrong. It's not - it's the only one written on it and the WiFi works fine on my device. Useless app. Up your game Tp-Link. You can make a better simple program than this that *at least* allows me to rename my extended WiFi network and change its password.

I am not sure why the negative reviews. The app is excellent! Works as advertised. Controls almost everything. And I can access the web interface from within. Great if you can't remember the config webpage. Only thing that's curious is a time server setting as it defaults when I save it. But the time get's updated so I guess it works. Haven't used the FW update feature but if it works like the rest, heeey.... 😊 the first really usable device mgmt app for me and the first I rated 😊

As far as it goes, it's good. Some aspects of the UI could be clearer, such as the warnings displayed when setting up guest WiFi. And there is no control over the channels used by the guest WiFi. Other than that, the app does what's required.

As a retired s/w engineer who wrote and tested critical real time s/w I would have to state that from my experience little testing was ever done. V: 1.35, Android 10, MIUI 1.0.2 1. The wi-fi scheduling is for OFF times not ON times. 2. The device IDs reported on the "data rate" map are not the same as those loaded initially when the App is started. 3. When the device name is modified and "Save"d, on returning to the previous level, the change to the device name is lost. Please correct the s/w.

The recent update not only removed the firmware upgrade option (a sign that the hardware will no longer be supported?), but the option to rename a device from "Device_[hex address]" also no longer functions - the app states the update is a success, but the name reverts back to the unfriendly version. I had to use this Device rename functionality due to this recent app upgrade wiping out all the previous friendly names I had set. Speaks volumes for a lack of regression testing in the SDLC!

Originally, this app didn't work with my devices - two TL-PA7010. I now added the TL-WPA7510 to the mix and just noticed that the app is now recognizing all of my devices. This, in hindsight, is what the app description is stating, but I still don't understand why does the PC app work with any WiFi? The app offers firmware update option for TL-WPA7510, but not for the TL-PA7010. It does display the link speeds, and offers similar functionality as the PC app, so that's useful.

The whole experience is poor. Decided to extend our house WiFi and bought three extenders and the hub. Have to reboot the hubs constantly and the app only half works. No sign of any fixes for the extenders. It's a shame, didn't need anything special, even high speed wasn't required, just a connection would've done.

Nig. G. Oct 7, 2020

Having followed the equipment installation instructions and then downloaded this app to try to control the WiFi settings, I have found that the app doesn't allow me to login to the extenders using my local network password, or the one supplied with the extenders. I can't tell if they are doing anything or working properly. This app is useless.

B.. R. Feb 6, 2022

Have 2 extenders to my powerline setup which works well. Saw this app and installed it thinking it would be helpful. Initial startup of app showed the adapter and 1 of the extenders. So next step is to add the 2nd extender. Pressing the add button, it asks for the 16 digit key and shows "adding". Pop up shows "success" and reloads *BUT* never shows 2nd entender. Restart of app still doesn't shown 2nd extender. Retried a few times but still no luck. Giving up.

Dav. F. Apr 2, 2022

Pretty poor for TP-Link. Renaming devices lasts for at least 5 seconds before returning to default. WPS for WiFi settings works fine, until power is lost like relocating the device after setup, then back to default. Seems everything just loves to be DEFAULT!

Dav. D. Mar 31, 2022

What is the point of this app? Pure rubbish. It refuses to connect to the to devices. I have tried to connect to 3 different wifi extender units. It will not accept the powerline keys.

OoZ. O. Sep 28, 2020

I wish there were a few more settings to play around with to have a chance to increase bandwidth, but on the other hand that's could also be a Pandora's box of sorts, so yeah, it's a mixed bag of pros and cons to self deliberation amongst the more knowledgeable power users who wants higher degree of granularity of controls versus the wannabees who think they know what they're messing around with... :)

Mat. B. Dec 5, 2019

I'm glad there's an app that will allow me to change settings, but I just found out it's a little different than the Windows/Mac version. For example, power saving mode is no where to be found using the app, but unless you use a computer (which 99% of the time I don't) you wouldn't know about the ability to enable or disable power saving mode. What else is missing on the Android app that can be found on Windows or Mac?

fro. f. Apr 12, 2022

Does not support earlier versions. Better to use pc, although the pc app redirect you to a Web page for WiFi settings. It does seem like reviews for this app are falling on deaf ears. Shame as the product itself works well.

Hug. D. May 20, 2022

App does not locate my Poweline adaptor mista of the time, the few times it does, it asks me to create a new password, but when I try to save, it just throws an error saying it "can't connect to the device"...
