The free app contains samples of the map and guide information. If you like what you see, go to in-app purchases and get the full app functionality of the country that you want.
How does it work?
This is not a routing/navigation app. The app aims to bring you offline access (i.e. no internet connection required) to the following:
• A detailed map of the country or region you purchase. The country map roughly corresponds to a 1:1 000 000 paper map in terms of its detail and will allow you to view the map at different zoom levels. The map works similar to a web map with the difference being that all information is installed on your device. It contains place names like cities, towns and villages together with a detailed road and track network. It also shows you all protected areas such as national parks and game reserves together with relevant background data such as rivers, mountains and major attractions.
• A detailed guide with the following categories: Places (cities, towns, etc), Attractions & Activities, Parks, Scenic, Camps, Lodging, Food & Drink, Fuel, Shopping, Services and More (miscellaneous points of interest). The guide information is linked to a location on the map and will display as a pin on the map for you to know where it is in reference to where you are.
The app will display a map of the country or region and allow you to switch on different categories of points of interest. You can also search for specific places by name. The map search is location sensitive, i.e. results will be relative to the centre of the map.
Your position, determined from your Android phone or tablet's location service, will display on the map so you can accurately orientate yourself on the map. As you drive, your location will update on the map so you always know where you are. (Device with GPS required)
The search functionality is linked to the guide categories. For example, if you need to find a campsite, simply switch on the Camps category. Immediately all campsites around you will display on the map and you can click on them for more information. Otherwise, if you know the name of a campsite, enter it into the search block and relevant results will be filtered.
What kind of information can you expect?
Apart from the categories already mentioned, points of interest will have associated information such as a description, contacts details, facilities and activities and some places will have photos. Have a look at the sample data in the free app to get an idea of what we offer.
What about updates?
The guides are sold according to year e.g. Namibia 2016 edition. We will provide free updates for one year after it has been replaced by a new edition. In other words, if you buy the 2016 edition, you will receive updates throughout 2016 and 2017. You can obviously continue to use your guide for as long as you want, it does not expire - just like a book.

I bought the map of Namibia in 2017 for 17 eur and it was quite ok: recent descriptions, phone numbers, facilities of lodges/campsites were correct. At end of last year I bought for 25 eur the map of East Africa to plan my roadtrip to Uganda. Absolutely useless and out of date. Only a few camp sites were mentioned (last update 2014) Save your money and get another free offline maps app (like Maps.me) which is up to date and full of useful details. I give 2 stars because the first map was ok.
Very disappointed in this app. Theres no options to save destinations no options to plan an save an entire route. You pay alot of money for something you could've seen on google maps for free.
Waste of Money. Google often has more information - even about remote places. And you can also download Google info for offline use. The most useful and probably only uniquely useful part of T4A is the commentary on the roads - deep sand, etc. You dont know that info is missing until you have bought it. And its not like you buying it at a discount. You constantly find yourself trying to zoom into more detail and its just not there. If only a magnifying glass could fill in the blanks Once you have bought the necessary southern africa maps you have spent a LOT more than its worth. Hardly ever use it. Certainly not a 'go to'
First tried the free version and found the details lacking. Then purchased the map for deeper zoom in and it was no improvement. If you don't like the free version, don't be conned into buying the add on.
Fantastic! I have been using the app for quite a while, and the limited zoom function was always an issue. After zoom function included, absolutely great!
Waste of money. Downloaded successfully, but when out of cell signal it would not show any fuel or other details, or my major accommodation lodge. Cost me lost time, lost fuel and huge frustration!
Bought it for a trip around Southern Africa. Unfortunately it is pretty outdated in Mozambique., Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Have used it a bit but I would recommend just using Google and asking lodge owners etc about the roads and places to stay.
I also bought the extra South Africa maps and just have basic map with name's with no detail map with names. Bit disappointed though. I have a tr4 Africa SD card in my Garmin aswell was hoping to use the app
Installed the app and then bought the additional South Africa Lesoto Swaziland maps for R199. It only shows places, no roads. I bought the extra maps as a friend of mine also bought it to see gravel roads. App is not working on my phone so can someone please assist as I now paid R199 for nothing? I have a Blackview BV6000.
Downloaded the app. After 10 minutes, nothing, sweet nothing. Tried selecting each option, nothing. Stared at the screen, nothing. More or less useless.
App is not working at all, doesn't show any of the options given, doesn't show streets NOTHING. Just shows me I am in the southern part of the Sout African map. How is this possible? Should be THE best maps App available in RSA. So dissapointed. Andre
Hi. App does not work on my phone anymore. LG K10. Only showing place names but no roads. Bought the Namibia map last year in September. I uninstall the app and installed it again. Can you please fix this
I bought offline maps for some countries but I am unable to use them. I sent an enquiry to T4A but they never responded. Wasted money. The app is also rubbish on Samsung. Very poor design and development.
Bought some in-app maps however they refuse to download. I get some "failed to POST to.." error. Please advise asap EDIT: problem was solved via email support, server error.
Some reasonable content but If you want this kind of money then the app best sharpen up a bit, lots of features missing and tunisia is in the wrong place 🤔
Please help. We bought tracks4africa for our andriod in our Toyota and we did the in app purchase of South Africa and Botswana and Namibië. I also downloaded the app on my cell because it is the same account. On my cell the places etc show when the buttons are on but not on the andriod in our car. What do we need to do to activate this on the car andriod set please? We payed R199 for each in app purchase.
How do I retrieve previously purchased maps ? I have purchased a new phone and reinstalled the app, but it has no option to retrieve previously bought maps, it wants me to buy them again?

I purchased the HD map, but keep getting errors when app tries to download it.
Really unhappy. Just spent R400 total for hi res map and sa data only to find it cannot create a route or autoroute. Hate wasting money
Just wasted R400. No adress search function. No routing function. What a wast of time and money.
Installed the app, then payed for South Africa Lesotho map. Can't seem to get the detail that additional purchase promised
Disappointed going from my old version of T4A on Android which had navigation option to not having the ability to transfer to the new phone. Then paid R400 for two sets of maps plus the zoom function and no navigation. The fact that you have so search the net to understand this Guide has no navigation option (not stated when you buy) is nothing short of a scam!!
