TRADA Wood Species Guide

The Wood Species app has been created by the Timber Research and Development Association, to help professionals in the construction and furniture industries choose the most suitable material for their project.
The app includes information on characteristics and properties for 40 commonly-used species FREE of charge, or you can upgrade for only £4.99 to access 100 more which are "locked" with a padlock symbol in the free version. After upgrading simply go back to the A-Z species page and you will find that all species are now accessible.

Search for 40 commonly-used wood species by a range of criteria such as durability, uses, colour, density, movement and availability. Or simply browse the A-Z listing which includes thumbnail wood grain images.

Once you have made your selection you can discover more about other characteristics
- including strength, drying, working qualities and environmental information. You can then share a summary and an image of a particular species to a colleague or a client via the email option.

The app links to the TRADA Membership Directory for information on suppliers of hardwoods and softwoods. Less common species are available for a small charge via the in app purchase option.

For additional information about timber and about membership of TRADA, visit www.trada.co.uk. The Wood Species app was developed in association with Near Pixel at www.nearpixel.com

This app is pretty much waste of time. You have to be able to see what it can do before you buy. Also the.hardness scale should be able to be changed to different formats. The Janka scale is not used and they use a metric scale which doesn't help.most people. You should tell on your download.what it cost maybe it's ok.

What a useless app. Hard to identify wood by a 1 inch picture of the grain. Nothing but a scan to get you to spend money for other useless pictures

Some good information, but the tiny pictures of the wood grain are useless to identify the species :-(

You have to pay to unlock more woods...

No option to unlock, no way to purchase upgrade, let alone find out how much it costs.

I upgraded but the paid species didn't unlock. Unimpressed and uninstalling.

I'll stick with other resources.

Missing alot of species and the pictures are awful! A tiny thumbnail and a small blurry pic of the wood? Useless in tyring to id wood.

This app is useless. Let's try some more detailed pics of wood.
