I used to really like this app, a little glitchy but overall pretty good. Until i opened it again for spring grilling and it had been redesigned. It controls the grill fine, but the frustrating part is trying to find a recipe. Unless you know exactly what you're looking for, it's nearly impossible to find anything. There are no categories like chicken, beef, pork, sides, etc like there used to be. I like to scroll around and look for new recipes and that is virtually impossible now.

The one thing you need, it doesn't have! Here you have an app to run a smoker but the app has no history. No graph showing you the smoke over time. If it plotted the temperature over time then you could reasonably figure out not only how the cook is progressing but roughly what time it will finish. So you have all this great tech to connect it to the cloud but a single temperature display with no history. What an unimaginative use of tech. Complete missed opportunity.

The redesign looks decent enough, although there doesn't seem to be any dark mode option, and it doesn't follow OS settings. The recipe button only shows my saved recipes, I have no clue how to search for recipes. I haven't used my grill with the updated app, so hopefully that still works well. The old app was slightly clunky, but at least it had the basics, like searching for recipes. Hopefully all the old options get reintegrated soon.

In general it's great however since the last update some functions have dropped off, for example; recipe search function. Once that's fixed I'll happily give it more stars Edit-Thanks for a speedy response. The function you mention was not the problem. The magnifying glass had disappeared altogether. It appears to be resolved now. I must say I can not fault your customer service at all. Well done.

The prior version of this app was so much better. This version tells me "oops there was an error" every time I try to pull up my current grill settings. The recipe section is now useless as you can no longer browse by categories. Instead you have to type a keyword which greatly filters results letting you only see a handful of recipes. It also loses my profile info after being open for a few minutes. New color scheme is also horrific. Not enough characters remaining to list more details

Love the grill hate this app. Worst than anything it only sporadically alarms me when the meat has hit its target temp or the timer alerts. There's no real rhyme or reason as to why sometimes it works and doesn't outside of the fact it freezes every other time I try to check the status. The recipes I save are also disorganized, like at least add a search to my saved recipes... wish they would fix all the bugs.

The ugly update has ruined the app. 1) No dark mode so grilling at night and using the app is painful on the eyes. 2) Bugs-a-plenty, between missing icon buttons (looking for the search 🔍 is invisible but clickable) and photos as well as the app locking up and crashing. 3) Cant figure out a way (or it's been removed from the newer app) to skip to different parts of a recipe during cooking. i.e. I don't need to wait another 15 mins for the grill to preheat when it's already been preheated!

Welp, saw the 2 star average rating, but decided to give it a spin. Now I know why the poor rating, because when I opened the app and tried to enter my email to sign up, it does not accept any email, saying they are invalid. How could an @gmail account be invalid? Update: problem seemed to fix itself when I restarted the app, just a bit disappointing that I met a bug right at app boot-up.

I get beeping notifications from the app saying that the temp has been reached, probe temp reached, etc. The notifications are helpful but the beeping is extremely loud and annoying. So I switched it to silent notifications. Doesn't work, still beeps. I then turned off notifications for the app entirely by going through settings. STILL BEEPS. I am about ready to uninstall this g**d*** thing I am that frustrated with it. FIX YOUR APP

Love my traeger. The only issues I've had are with the app. They need to have an adjustable sound level on the APP for notifications. I'm a pretty light sleeper but have failed a few times waking up to my probe alarm.(shoulder last night sat on the grill 3 hours past target temp.) I'll own the mistake but... its the reason I bought the "best" pellet grill.

App is great but with the update it makes it difficult to plan out a meal. You used to be able to select poultry, beef, deserts, vegetables, etc. Not you have to search for specifics and that makes it kind of hard to find something new to try.

The older version was much more user friendly. If you screen times out in the middle of your prep work and you need to reference the recipe you have to re open everything to get back to it. Since that is pretty much what I use the app for it makes it very frustrating.

Love using the traeger grill and I really like the old style app before the new update. Especially when it came to looking for new recipes to try, and the darker background was easier on the eyes at night and attracted far less bugs. I would much rather be using the older version of the app than this new one.

Entropy, Defined as a State of Increasing Disorder! After years of development and improvements by Traeger the old app was finally functional. Now they've thrown it all out the window with new user interface which is a complete cluster F'k and unusable. Can only browse chicken recipes? Search or browse by meat or ingredient gone!, browsing search results by image gone! Clearly has been redesign by a committe of useless marketing spinnerheads whom have never use it and was coded in China.

The new redesign has a terrible interface. It frequently forgets saved recipes and is not as easy to search as the old interface. Additionally it will randomly not connect to the grill and the troubleshooting on the help guide is not helpful in fixing.

Update on a Holiday Weekend? Thanks for ruining it with an update that didn't work. Just staring at your orange circle, unable to navigate. Cleared cache, uninstall, reinstall, force stop, sign in/out.... Not too bright on your end. Failed on two separate devices.

Updated app is garbage. Crashes every single time I use it on Samsung S21 ultra. Once you use the app if you close your phone or switch focus, the app is just a sad gray screen when you come back and the app must restart to regain control. This is a newer bug as older version did not have issue

At one time this app worked well. Now, I have no clue what they did. App takes 2-3 minutes to load. Just reads "heating up your account" and "preparing your grill". I then can look at recipes and classes however my grill shows "non wifire", even though it's connected and never had issues before. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Removed my grill and then added it back. Worked once, now back to "non wifire". Can't use the app at all. Please bring back old version.

Unfortunately the update took away the meat categories for recipes, but the internet is full of them anyway. Would like Traeger to update the app and firmware to allow more than one phone to connect to the grill. It's a pain when me or the wife is cooking and the other isn't around. You have reset the grill to clear each other out then re-enter all your info to get your phone to connect. Traeger please tell me I'm doing something wrong or fix the issue!

This app used to be a joy to use. The current app redesign is horrible. App is buggy and doesn't have as much information for the recipes I had saved, such as temperature settings for each step, in case you wanted to manually grill something. It is a shame because the app really makes their grills a cut above the competition. New generation grill models come out and suddenly the app is difficult to use on previous generation of grills.

While installation seems to go good, my Traeger will not show up on my profile. I do have it connected to the 2.7ghz access point. So frustrating. You guys have a rating of under 3 stars. It's time for an overhaul.

Worked great for a week. Then no wifire ability for past 2 months. Several phones, resets, routers, etc. Definitely problem with wifire, probably due to extraordinary pairing procedure! Ridiculous at best. Otherwise grills well.

Like many others love the grill hate the app it has gotten unnecessarily complex and clunky over the last few updates and now it's crashing all the time makes the "make now" function impossible to use what's the point in paying for a wifi grill if the companion app is worthless. Fix your app.

If ain't broke, don't fix it. It's not too late to roll back the update. Nothing ever works. Grill goes missing during a cook, saved recipes are difficult to find and disappear in the profile. Swallow your pride Traeger and roll back to the old app.

Complete catastrophe since update. App crashes. Saved recipes don't appear until after restarting the app multiple times. Some of the recipes steps are completely empty (look fine on web).

Used to good then they "updated". Used to have tabs with your saved recipes now you have to look through your profile. Also the recipes, you have to look at steps then go back to ingredients and reviews. Before it was all there just had to scroll down. And when you search you just get name of dish, used to get name and a picture. Y'all screwed it up good!

The new app needs work. It works fine, but the new layout is painful. All of the recipes and saved recipes are big full screen tiles instead of seeing 4 smaller tiles on the screen. It makes it much harder browse, search and compare recipes.

App doesn't work properly. When using the pre-set recipes, if you get to a step where you need a temp probe, the temperature of the smoker will drop to the desired temp of the probe. And it doesn't allow you to adjust it either, making those pre-sets useless.
