I have used, enjoyed, and supported this app for years. With it we have discovered beautiful bike trails within whatever driving distance we set. We are able to use the trail map in the app to get directions to the parking lot we need as well as have the details about the trail to help us on our way. Recently I bought a new phone and had an issue with the app which I posted here. The developer responded within 24 hours, and now everything is working perfectly again. So happy and thankful!

The trail maps are generally good. However, requiring a subscription keeps me from using this app currently. I used to buy credits to buy full access to just the specific maps that I wanted. There isn't enough value to pay $29.99 annually. Honestly, who is really going to need this level of access. Once you get the trails within 50 miles or so, then it'll just be an occasional need for a map - which can easily be had from dozens of free sources. They priced themselves out of the game... For me.

Way to pushy to purchase full version. You don't even get a chance to explore what this app is capable of because they push you too buy it to much. When it pops up to buy it, which it does every 60 secs it seems like, it resets everything. Great for finding trails, but the pushing to buy without getting a chance to explore is a turn off. I uninstalled instead of purchasing.

I went to buy my credits to purchase a map and it came up with "couldn't process receipt" and I don't have any credits. If you are just looking to use this app to preview the trail you want to go on, it easy just to look and see where you would be going and parking and riding/running/walking. Don't waste your money on buying credits it's not worth it!

I enjoyed using the one trail I got with my free map credit, but I needed more trail maps. So I decided to just go and the 15 credit option. It errored out but still took the money out of my account. So I basically paid money for nothing, and it doesnt seem like I can get my purchases applied to the app. What a waste of memory space. Don't waste your time or money on this app.

Update: they allotted me the credits I purchased and are aware of the problem; rating revised accordingly. I just tried to purchase map credits to download a trail map and despite the purchase going through, the credits were not added to my account--I got an "unable to report receipt!" error three times and no credits were added. I should have 17 credits but I have zero, tried restarting my phone and everything. Nice idea for an app, but I feel robbed. Not a way to treat paying customers.

Honestly they need to integrate their trails. You should be able to see when your intersecting another trail so that you can hop onto another trail if need be rather than having to search all the time for the trails in your area. Their trails do not intersect on the app it's a shame. Also with today's technology they should show you the Google map of what you actually rode on their trails at the end of your ride. The trails are great but the app needs work.

Wonderful repository of rail trails across the USA. Even with the free version you can get all kinds of info about trails, but I reccomend the unlimited premium if you're a heavy user as the trail overlay on the map makes it much easier to explore trails in your area and the ability to download maps is important for trails which may lack good cell service.

app looks nice and has nice features except it is totally worthless if you can't purchase credits to use the damn thing. everytime I try to purchase credits to get maps it tells me that the play store has stopped and needs restarted. also saw people have had issues with this same problem for at least 6 months and it's still not fixed. sounds like I either need to fi d another app or you guys need some programmers that know what the hell they're doing.

Couldn't even log in on my mobile device (Android) Had issues on PC as well (Firefox). Customer service was nice but wanted me to call in to troubleshoot. I found another similar app with free service and less hassle. Now I'm in the process of trying to get my account deleted as I don't see that as an option, which is never a good thing.

Trail descriptions fail to address surface conditions. Many are UNimproved and not rideable on a hybrid bike. Who wants to drive an hour or more to discover an unrideable trail? Connecting trails are not indicated, impeding planning a trip. Maps and descriptions rely on user inputs and are often years out of date. Useful to find out rail trails in a new state but limited use or value once you locate them in Google maps. Declined to purchase for these reasons.

Shame on me for downloading this app without reading the reviews. After using the 1 free map I really enjoyed the features. I went ahead and purchased map credits to download more maps as we are planning on doing alot of biking this summer. Purchased map credits 2 days prior to our trip, and now have to come uo with an alternate plan because there are no credits and no response from support. Guess we will call the waste of money "stupid tax".

I love being able to locate biking trails wherever I happen to be. The combination of trail length (in miles) and user reviews is exactly what I need. It makes me happy to support the RAILS TO TRAILS CONSERVANCY with my dollars.

I use this app a lot as I love biking along rail trails. Right now we are cross the country and stopping day for a trail ride. Couldn't have had so much fun without TrailLink! Now that Google maps is integrated it is MUCH better and easier to use. In the web version I am loving the url that let's me find trails by state...it would be great to have an easy way to find trails by state from the app too.

This app is somewhat helpful, but any action other than initial search results in an appeal to the unlimited version for $30 annual. Not worth the cost. The basic app is nothing more than advertising to the annual membership. Theres not enough rail trails in any particular area to warrant this. Will continue to use other sources as long as the cost is this high

DO NOT INSTALL It's a rip off and they literally take your money. You have to buy credits to download a map but when you try to download AFTER you pay for credits, it still asks you to purchase it. I wanted to purchase the unlimited option but it kept saying error. Very disappointed.

Would love to have a trial of some sort to sample a trail map before being forced to buy a subscription. If I can't test out a trail map first to see if this app is what I need then I'm definitely not paying for a subscription. UPDATE : I did register and it's still telling me I have to pay $29.99 to download an offline trail map.

I downloaded this app because I saw that it showed you where you can park at different points on the trail. Unfortunately you can only look at it once. If you interact with anything that's a premium option it'll take all the details away if you don't buy the premium version and you'll be left with the starting point of the trail and that's it.

Thanks to this app I was able to find and ride some of the most wonderful bicycle trails which also have amazing views.... I had only just started riding and wasn't really sure of many trails near me or the surrounding areas..... This app 100% helped me with locating some of the best trails in my area.

Ali. S. May 31, 2021

Free or paid version good! I choose the paid version to help support the organization, the free version is very good too. Does not always show all the bike trails in the area as some are not rail trails. Nice to see photos of the trails when users upload them.

Jon. B. Jan 28, 2021

Didn't show any trails only a generic Google Map of the US or closer. I'd rather just get a list of trails and points to join the trail and let me open the trailhead coord in my preferred map app... For me that is OsmAnd for OpenStreetMap powered, user maintainable improvements to the map detail, offline, open source, and more respectful of my privacy.

OK For Some Areas The trails that are listed are presented nicely though I would like to print maps to carry with me, not just download for off line use. Problem for me is that many trails in my area are not even listed. And, some are in State Parks. I hope that there will be trails added as time goes by.

Loved the app, very detailed maps but my purchase never registered. The FAQ says send email with a receipt and my credits will be added manually within a day. I was currently in another city, literally on a new trail and wanted to explore didn't have time to wait a day after purchasing credits. ** update** Purchased credits again after receiving email from developer claims that version 2 fixed this issue. I'm still unable to see my credits after purchase. Uninstalled requesting 2nd refund.

I ride as many rail trails as I can get to. The TrailLink app is an indispensable tool. My only real quibble is that some of the trail descriptions read as if they were written by a local chamber of commerce. Straightforward trail descriptions are more useful to a bike traveler. But the trail link app is also loaded with factual information. The mere fact that it includes so many trails makes it extremely valuable. The trail maps and the search are excellent. A five-star app in my opinion.
