TrailSmart includes an in-depth reference 'Trekopedia' (communities, accommodations, attractions, services, waypoints, etc.), supports highly customizable routes, interactive maps (including detailed offline maps), directions and section-by-section guide, elevation profile charts, dynamic trip stats for your current section, stage, and route, an intelligent compass that shows the right direction based on your current location and chosen route, and more.

# The Right Information, When You Need It
TrailSmart provides you with information tailored to your current location. If you are approaching a town, TrailSmart will tell you how far you still have to go, what attractions are available around you, where you can find a water fountain, options for where to stay the night, and clear, detailed directions. You can easily see what things you flagged as interesting, which things you added notes to, and which you marked as favourites.
# In-depth Reference Information
TrailSmart's trail 'Trekopedia' is packed with extensive interactive reference information. Everything can be searched and filtered, viewed on a map, notes can be added (anything from a simple reservation number to a copy-and-pasted blurb from a website), and more.
# Interactive Offline Maps
Powerful, flexible maps that display your current location on your route along with pins showing all the locations included in the Trekopedia (just touch a pin to open its related Trekopedia entry). Filter and do searches. Detailed, high-quality offline maps are also available via in-app purchase, so you have full access to maps even without an Internet connection. When you do have an Internet connection, great online maps are also available.
# Intelligent Compass
Just follow the yellow arrow! TrailSmart's intelligent compass points you in the right direction based on your current location and your selected route, and updates dynamically as you move. It takes into consideration all the twists and turns in your route and can even point you back in the right direction when off-route exploring towns.
# Pre-Trek Planning & Preparation
TrailSmart makes it easy to plan your route (including configuring the sections you want to follow), organize it into stages, and review distances and elevations (including a handy interactive Elevation Profile Chart). Review and rank accommodation, flag locations of interest as ‘favourites’, add your own notes, and more.
# Up-To-Date Content
TrailSmart's content is regularly updated and expanded based on the latest information available to us. You can check for content updates (including entirely new trail datasets) directly inside TrailSmart and download content whenever it is convenient for you (even on the trail), without having to connect to Play. Always be up-to-date!
# No Internet Connection Required
All of TrailSmart's content is stored directly on your phone, including our detailed offline maps (once initially downloaded). No Internet connection is required!

I purchased this app to assist me in my walk of the Lycian Way. The app has many functional features such as breaking the route into stages, distance for each stage, features on route with water sources, Accommodation with with addresses and hyperlinked phone numbers, food shops, camping, mosques - always have water. This is useful to take the stress out of the walk so you can walk and focus on the scenary. Camping spots are useful to plan timings and food / water requirements.
Using this app on the Lycian Way. It has been very helpful so far. Hopefully more trails are covered in the future
So close to being a useful great app. They have wonderful descriptions and details that are helpful, but then it all falls appart at the actual map. Why they failed to include a useable map of the trails linked to the description is incomprehensible. If this was fixed, I'd give them 5stars.
Customer support on this app is extraordinary! This summer, we were walking the Sanabres, which splits in several places into alternate routes. We were to set off in the morning down a route that TrailSmart didn't have mapped. I contacted Eugene and expressed my dismay that the app didn't cover our route. Believe it or not, he spent the night adding it in! We awoke to an email from Eugene saying to download the update, and there it was - everything we needed. Thanks Eugene!
I wanted to like this app. I downloadeded it because of a blog post that was promoting it. (must be a blog written by the person who made it) The apps UI/UX is terrible. I am in Cappadocia and wanted to use it for the trails here but because of the bad UI I couldn't get it to work. I think the app might not even be completely functional at the moment. If the developer desides to fix the app and make it not only usable but pleasurable to use I will update this review.
The best of all the apps for walking the Caminos. Used it on the Frances and Portuguese and using it again on the Frances. That was written in 2020. Am going back to do the Frances again this year and will obviously use this app again. Very useful indeed for those complicated turns through the back streets of Spanish towns. Wouldn't go without it.
Did the Portuguese Camino last year, and this app was a lifesaver. When we got off the trail, we could see where we were and how to get back on the trail. But the off-line map – well worth it. Amazing response from the app team if you have questions.
Did some of the Lycian Way last year and doing some more soon. Wouldn't be without this app. Thought I had a problem with the new version (I didn't!) so emailed for help. Unbelievably I got a reply within minutes. Great service and very friendly
Very good app to have on a multi day hike like the Lycian way. For this I found it indispensable. Lots of excellent details on all aspects of the trail.

just completed the Portuguese Camino excellent app helped on many ways it only became confusing when entering SANTIAGO I would recommend this app 99%accurate took the pressure off..
Trailsmart really got me through! I followed the Littoral route of the Portuguese Camino and the way markers were not reliable.

Wow this app.has so many advanced features. So useful for planning trails walking or cycling .and its FREE
Perfect app for The Lycian Way!! I hiked pretty much all of the LW from late May to early July 2018, and this app was a godsend. Although the LW is generally well waymarked, there are times when you will get lost, even with a good map and compass. But not if you have a failsafe offline backup map, that also lists water sources (invaluable for planning ahead in terms of how much to carry with you), sites of interest, restaurants, pensions and more...! The pension recommendations were very good and many of the places I stayed were highlights of my trip. On a final note, all apps have occasional glitches and TLW app is no exception - however, the Trailsmart development team were incredibly responsive, getting back to me quickly by email whenever I had issues. Highly recommended to help you get the most out of your trek. Enjoy!!!
LycianWay needed off line help such as this. We completed 350km of trail and used the app both in real time navigation and broader trip planning. A real partner for us. Recommend to anyone planning and/or doing the walk. App support was readily available and most helpful.
The offline mapping worked perfectly & helped us out whenever we needed it to. They were very helpful helping me set the up app too. Some of the other functionality eg field notes is work in progress but we had the Brierley book for that so no issue. I'd recommend for anyone who wants an insurance policy for those occasions when you're not sure which way to turn.
App is very helpful. I was having an issue with the offline map I purchased and Eugene Mallay emailed me in minutes and walked me through it. Fantastic customer service and product.
Great app. I used it while walking Lycian Way. Map is very accurate and useful. I didn't purchase offline maps, but the map, water source and other interest point icons works in airplane mode ;-) Cons: App has some bugs.but not annoying. Dashboard, trail selection seems a little confusing at first. I didn't need anything else. Very satisfied with the app. Please add seasonal info for each water source. And add more routes from Turkey.
