It says "Why travel with TrainPal? Split tickets". This is why I downloaded it. I thought split tickets meant that you could either return from a different station or return to a different station. There is no way I can see to do this - the only options being Single, Return or Open Return and when you select your outbound journey it does not let you change the stations on return 🤷♀️
This app could be really helpful if I was able to find the station. Somehow I can't find the station "London City Airport". It suggests to me all other London airports but not the City Aiport. If someone has an idea I'd love to hear it. Thanks!
I can't add my railcard to bookings it seems the app doesn't cater for smaller phone screens. I contacted the help and said use the website so they don't care. Also I've booked a ticket and they want £10 admin fee for a refund even though it's stated before no fees for refunds.
Good but NEEDS TO LET US CHOOSE TYPES OF PPEN RETURN. It ONLY let's you do off peak returns. You CAN'T pick peak time returns or return within a month. Both mobile site and app! (desktop website let's you do the anytime within a month return or peak times) why can't you do that mobile site or app? That's stupid! 3 stars lost due to this issue.
Do not use. Terrible. Glitchy as anything and the tickets don't even show up in the app. Had to message (and wait til next day for an answer) as trip is canceled and they want to charge me a £10 admin fee. Awful. Avoid at all costs.
All and more you could want from a train booking app, especially if you travel a lot. The cheapest tickets, regular vouchers, and I've got every exchange/refund that I've requested, even for last minute exchanges (just got a refund for an exchange I had to make the morning I was meant to travel) Even has cool stats for how much you've saved in money and carbon emissions. Could not recommend enough.
Nice idea, terrible implementation. No way to save payment details, and no Google pay integration to make up for it. E-tickets are only visible with an active network connection, meaning they cannot be displayed when out of signal, such as when challenged between stations. 2 stars because it technically "works", but the experience is just awful.
I'm glad I found this, it's a lot cheaper compared to Trainline app, it's that better I've compaired both prices and with Trainpal I'm getting it 50% cheaper than Trainline, that's default too NO Rail cards and it's cheaper, I also like you can play games to win discounts
Discounts, cashback and no fees. Probably the best app for booking train tickets in the UK. Rating as 3 rather than 5 due to the disappointing amount of discounts available for trips under £20. Every discount you get through special events like the current Easter themed one have a minimum spend of £20 so you're restricted to the 1% daily discount which obviously doesn't make as big of an impact as a £1 off discount. That being said, it's still cheaper than any other app so I'll continue to use.
It's a great app which saves a lot of money. I would like to give 5 stars but I have run into some problems with using my rail card through this app, which I bought on the app. The prices do not take into account the railcard so in effect it is null if i were to use the app to purchase tickets. I have left some few messages in the 'contact us' section but i have not heard back at all.
More info would help. If buying multiple tickets it would be helpful if a breakdown of the total price was displayed. Also, if using railcards, it would be helpful if the impact of each railcard was displayed either when selecting the card to be applied or in the breakdown. Apart from that the layout is fairly simple and the app easy to use.
The best app for booking train tickets for now. You get refund for travels not made and cheapest tickets is found there. There should be options of e-tickets but it's on some selected stations.
First time using the app came back with a route half the price and less changes than all the others including trainline even setting off at peak time. Ticket pickup was faultless. The app even has a live tracker to tell you were you are the route. Great first impressions.
Not happy with app. features not working right. non refundable but exchangeable. I requested partially return i.e outbound. Whole ticket is cancelled and refunded ???? Can't cancel ticket straight away when booking mistake due to connectivity. I paid 110£ for 3x booking same journey. open ticket available only same day Return. Customer service contacted app needs an update Considering uninstall.
Absolutely brilliant app! Definitely worth using. Compared prices on other popular apps/websites, and you can be saving up to £30+ on a journey. Will be using this from now on.
I will rate it once I've had a meaningful response to a message I sent today. If I don't hear I'll cancel the app. Customer service very important.
Really poor app. Everytime I log in it asks me if I need to import any tickets... No, I don't - I never need to but it asks me EVERY time...... Today I tried to book a ticket with it and out of the blue it starts trying to set up a new passcode, and needed email confirmation etc --- I had to abandon the app and buy my ticket at the station instead or I'd miss the train.
The UI is good but there are lot of ads or popups sometimes. It's easy to find the ticket you're looking for, however it does not support Google pay. You can't pay with Google pay or save your ticket to Google pay. Integrate Google pay and give us a proper live tracker, then I'll use the app.
0n 15.04.2022 I tried to change my ticket from Langwathby to Kings Cross. Neither the app or the website would allow me to change or buy a ticket for 16.04.2022, giving a . message 'Oooops, try again later', which I did, but no joy. I gave up and got a ticket from RailEasy, which btw was £7 cheaper. I contacted TrainPal customer services about my experience, who asked me to book a new ticket through TrainPal and send them the order number!! No acknowledgement of the technical problem!
Tried and failed to book cheap tickets on Trainline. First time on this app, booked without any problem AND cheaper than Trainline Will be my go to SP for train tickets from now on.
Better than Trainline, doesn't charge booking fees and often finds cheaper journey options.
Ordering tickets is fine however don't even think about reaching out to customer support. I've tried 3 times to reach out about change and refunding some of my tickets because I was covid positive and I am still yet to get a response. £30 down the drain because of no customer support.
Doesn't like giving open return tickets and, when asking for help, receive patronising nonsense for a reply. Can be very good, I use it a lot but if you want an open return save yourself a headache by using Trainline!
Three year update: It literally has loot boxes. This is just humiliating for everyone involved, really.
Best prices this really works. A bit messy and cluttered with messages and ads but it saves money nearly every time I try it so worth it.
You can't even choose a seat or change a seat, customer service don't respond to emails or messages on social media, use this app to find trains then book tickets directly.
Matching or better prices than the Trainline, actually does help save money if you can buy a week or more in advance. I've not had to deal with them for refunds or exchanges yet really, so can't talk to that, but overall a good help to save on rail travel.
