TransferWise Money Transfer

This app has left a bitter taste. One is supposed to provide documents for changes to one's profile, which is reasonable. However, the team never gets back with verification update. Their SLA is 2 - 3 days. I had to cancel my transfer for the lack of response from their team. Worse still, the app did not recognise earlier document that was already verified. I followed up multiple days with their clueless agents. I would have given this app a good zero star, but we don't have that option.

only one thing needs improvement: How you ask for feedback. Please understand that your app is great and the service is unmatched. It's just difficult it is to give you feedback. Your request for feedback should be as easy as a few clicks. For example, your frequent request for feedback titled "Did we time that right?" Should be as easy as clicking yes or no. If yes that should be it. You always time transfers right but I never give you the positive feedback because it's a long form.

User verification is required without notice beforehand. I need to transfer money and I cant because the verification does not work. The app they developed to take photos of your ID uses the wide angle lens hence the photos are useless. Not possible to switch between lens or upload a photo which I take. Probably that's my luck, it seems to be cheaper to transfer through my bank.

By default the app turns off contactless payment (which is good). But it does this by turning off the NFC. But I need the NFC for something else. I can't find a setting to turn control this. There are settings "Chip and Pin" and "Mobile wallets" but it's unclear what these do. There is also a setting "Contactless" but it's greyed out.

Excellent! The app is easy to use and the general "Wise" experience is the best I've seen for converting money for daily use, especially with the debit card. One recent change I like is the ability to set up an automatic exchange, so I can just tell it to convert to Euros if the rate reaches X and then not worry about it and know that I caught a good rate. Managing rate alerts should be handled within the app and not this go through an email to reach an unaccessable web page nonsense.

Wise doesn't always have the best rate, but they are fast, easy to use and my go-to money transfer of choice. The problem I have with their app and site is that I cannot edit recipients so I have to recreate them is I made an entry error or if I need to update an address, number or account. That frustrates me because seems like it would be a simple/basic functionality to have.

Not bad for a FinTech but still has a way to go with UI. For example it's hard to get recipients to display (some don't for whatever reason). There are too many clicks to find the account balances when you have multiple accounts or change accounts. The focus on knowing someone's email is a strange distraction. The random speeds of transfer must be watched too. Transfer with external accounts can take from 30 seconds to a week.

The app cancelled a transfer after 2 weeks of pending due to some "policies". Never bothered to clarify or at least copy-paste a paragraph of their new policies to their customer even though I requested it via email. The reason for cancellation is not on the list publicly offered for review. The cancelled amount has not yet been refunded and I doubt it will be. I've been using the service for some years but at this point I do not recommend it to anyone as it's a scam.

Update: 5 months later and I still can't make a transfer with the app. They have the app developed to automatically end the chat if you navigate away from the app. That means if you're sitting and waiting for an agent to connect and your phone locks, the chat is closed. Need to check a message real quick while waiting on an agent? Nope, chat closed. This wastes a lot of battery and my time. Extremely poor design. I was told to contact a payment processor with Wise's integration issue!

This used to be a great app until the last transfer i made, it's stuck at "running some checks" and there's no option to cancel. It's been 2 weeks and I've tried reaching out to them through email but all they say is that they're busy. Yeah we're all busy just return the money if you don't want to send it! I'm never using this app again nor recommending it to anyone i know. There's a better app it's called Korona pay if anyone is looking for a money transfer app.

Be careful... They've developed pretty well, becoming faster and almost more reliable. But what they do is deny or block the most affordable transaction types so you're compelled to pay for transfers via the exact same debit account via your VISA Debit - at twice or more of a service charge. It's a lot of money for me, someone living abroad while receiving his income from his home-country. I cannot find a place where I can report this ongoing concern more than where I've already contacted them..

Love this app. Rates are not exaggerated and usually transactions are done fairly quickly. The only problem I have, which is pretty inconvenient -and a bit essential for someone who buys a lot from South Korea- is that the app do not recognize the virtual accounts, and the majority (if not all) Korean companies online (like Soundwave, for example) have this method for foreigners. So, I'm always having the issue to change to another app. It would be amazing if you update it!

Everything was OK until they took money and run some checks. It is already going more then 10 days. The worst thing you cannot even cancel the transfer if it is under checks. Support is awful. They answer is "we will update you once checks are finished ". But when, nobody knows. I wouldn't recommend use this service especially for amounts higher then you can allow to lose.

Since I travel around a lot and deal with income and expenses in many different currencies, Wise really is an essential service. The app is simple to use and making payments is easy, but information on how to receive payments could be better. The compliance requirements (e.g. proof of source of income) are annoying, but that's not specific to Wise; we're now all assumed to be financial criminals until we can prove otherwise.

Warning!! I am near to lost 600USD for this app, the customer support is a desaster. How can the money be lost if each movement is registered??? They assured me that in some cases is not possible do a recall and the money could be lost. Never never I heard something like it from the traditional transactions or another digital platform dedicated to make transfers. Untrusty platform.

Being able to exchange anytime, anywhere at lower rates than banks helps save me both time and money. The app's UI is simple and exchanging currencies is made smooth and easy. I especially appreciate the transfer via email or phone number feature, as it makes remember account numbers hassle free. Overall, I definitely recommend this app.

Great app for transferring money across currencies. I wish I had known of this earlier when I travelled a lot! The fees are low and to make transfers is easy, the interface looks nice and simple. They also offer a card and recently 'jars' to stack away money in different currencies. However they can be slow in responding to emails and app might not always show the correct estimated date of transfer (i.e. if paused for some reason)

I used the app when I move to the UK. For me, it served a single puprose, I needed the ability to send money in the UK quickly to pay my rent deposit, and it worked. As I find myself paying abroad quite often for different investments, I thought I'd keep it as a digital wallet to move money quickly in the US, but they really let me down(!) when they refused to send money to certain accounts without any explanation. Found myself paying conversion rates twice for nothing and using other services.

I use wise when I need to transfer funds on urgent basis under emergency circumstances and wise charge pretty high fees as compare to other available options. But their fee is justified because the speed of transfer money is very quick. But it's becoming habitual for wise that I transferred the money and i start showing the status of "transactions being processed" and keep on wait for transfer! If I have to wait for long time why shouldn't I chose other options! Wise is becoming un-trustable

I've been using Wise (formerly Transfer Wise) for about 4 years now. I use it regularly as I have bank accounts outside the US. For doing international transfers, Wise is the best app out there. Their rate usually hovers around 1% of the amount you're transferring, which sure beats the standard 3% usually charged with ForEx. Not to mention wiring fees. The transfers also are completed surpringly fast. Thanks Wise, keep up the good work. 👍

Since the most recent few updates, the app does not function on an up-to-date Android phone. The customer support I have received borders on non-existent -- the various people replying ask questions that are already answered in my description of the problem, seek impossible screenshots, and make suggestions that are only applicable to browser/desktop versions. Particularly when traveling, having a functioning phone-based version of the software is crucial. Until this is fixed, avoid!

I used this app for years but recently they have flagged a transfer, over 10 business days later and I'm still waiting for it to come through. Their live chat support is useless, fails at communicating and powerless, they can't help resolve any issues that would requiere a persons attention and only ask you to wait patiently on your transfer as they take 10 mins to provide a copy paste answer, and anything that deviates from their script responses prove they don't understand English correctly.

Someone told me about this app and said it's better than remittly with their exchange rate, just a little higher in transfer fee. I checked and downloaded it , there are 4 different rates depending on which type you use. I chose to send direct because it said the recipient will receive money within 40 mins, just pay higher in fee . Everything was done and they took the money but then I got a message to say the transfer will take 2 days to complete..needless to say when this done,app will be gone

I've been using Transferwise(wise) since 2016. It used to be a preferred app to send remittances because of exchange rate and fast transactions. However, things are now pretty much up side down. If you caught up with some issue then you have no other way except having a lot of patience. Customers are no longer the priority as wait time to get your phone answered takes time and email reply takes 2 working days with no plausible explaination.

Used this app a few times as it's quick, easy and cheap to use. Used to use another £ transfer site but had to queue in a post office to send it, fill in paperwork, pay £7 to send it and then took ages to arrive. Now use Wise, all done on my phone, anywhere, done quickly, efficiently, and £ there within a few hours and cost almost nothing. Great app and I would HIGHLY recommend it

I had got this to use to pay bills because I am traveling for work and when I went to transfer funds to pay bills my account was deactivated. I sent in everything as asked and still nothing. Now I may have to find a different way to pay bills while traveling. Wish they would have stated they can't get things done reliably. Then they can verify me because I don't have member number because my account is deactivated by them.....smh.

Avoid as plague! They keep witholding my money, no way to talk to any support to able to resolve this. If you need an actuall bank account and having your money safe, steer away from this scam app!! EDIT: tried using the app after a year again and it has only gotten worse since. 10 days and no sign of my money or any suggestion, when will they resolve the transfer issue (ended up receiving email from their support, that "they will take as long as necessary"!!). OMG, No.1 SCAM app and service.

I love this app. I just regret not learning this app before when I was working in Singapore since we use PayPal there and the transaction fee is really high and I hate the fact that you have to wait for 21 days or ask the client to unlock the fee to receive your money. With Wise, not only is it easy to use and has cheaper service fee, transfer is also really fast! I'm glad I found this app!

I've been using wise for years. I haven't had a single problem with transfers. I have done dozens of international transactions. I am happy to see that the transactions are getting processed faster than when I joined. And the rates of exchange are better than being in person exchanges.
