App is basic and functional. But it makes you enter your CCV code EVERY time you buy a ticket. Super annoying and inconvenient, especially when you don't have the physical card present. Also beware it's only valid for King County Metro and sound transit. You have to be knowledgeable of what agency you're traveling with.
I am unable to use any of my points for tickets using the app. The app removes my points when I redeem for a water taxi ticket but the ticket never shows up to use. My points are removed and shows it in my history but there is no tickets listed as available or "active"
Totally useless. Why can't I pay for a ticket winning the app? Instead I have to go to a store to pay for it!? Why can't I link a metro card to this app!? Very dumb
Apps that interup my use of them the first time I try to use them, always get the lowest rating possible.
While it's convenient to buy and use metro and and sound transit tickets without using cash or having to refill your metro card, this app is very buggy. Half the time I try to activate a ticket, the app instantly crashes. Even when the ticket successfully activates, it can take the better part of a minute to do so, while you're standing in the door of the bus waiting. And if you pre-activate to avoid this situation, it will still take as long to pull it back up. Convenient concept, needs work!
Extremely slow. The app developers should try being the dude trying to board a bus while this thing loads super slow, asks you to leave feed back, and the loads slow again. Unacceptable. Edit: its still trash. I travel a ton, and this is perhaps the worst transit app I've used. Its slow and buggy. Embarrassing for the home of Amazon and MS to not have passable tech.
It is down. I'm standing at the bus stop without cash and can't buy a tickey
There needs to be more practical information about how to use this app if you seriously intend for infrequent transit users and out-of-towners to use it. It's super frustrating that the 'More Info' section just links to a Youtube video-- if you're in public without headphones, the video is useless because you can't hear it. There needs to be written information as well. It would also be nice if it explained somewhere that you may be asked to tap your ticket when you show it to the bus driver so that the background color changes, verifying that the ticket is real/valid. The app itself seems to work OK, but it is not intuitive at all.
i used this app for years with relative ease across multiple phones when suddenly this past month it's been terrible. it's lagging, it's slow, and it freezes. it takes me nearly 10 minutes(no, really) to buy/load a transfer now. i clear the cache, cycle through the app, hoping this at least does something, but don't think it does. i also have a locked transfer that i purchased YEARS ago that i can't use, can't remove and it contributes to lag. it's horrible and barely usable. fix this garbage.
First, I'm really thankful Metro makes this option available - I commute exclusively by bus/bike and it's so handy to have this if I can't find my pass. Unfortunately I can't seem to get a ticket ready in time to present it to the driver as I'm boarding, because it keeps telling me I need to "redownload" my tickets to use them even tho I am connected to data. Shutting off WiFi and closing/re-opening the app seems to resolve it after a few tries, but by then then it's too late.
UPDATE: I resumed using this app once bus fares were reinstated. For several months months, it worked great. Around mid-September it once again became nearly unusable. Constant crashes and long waits when reloading an active ticket. After working great for a while, it is once again awful. This app shpuld be trashed and something new created. After three years, will uninstall
Developer: I don't understand why you don't integrate the best features of orca, such as inter-system transfers. Why not leverage the nfc chips already in our phone, so we can tap our phones as we walk by, instead of interrupting whatever we're doing on phones to scan a code? Why don't you enable the beta test feature built in to Google play? As it is, it's a functioning app, and a desperately needed step up from the antiquated orca card interface (which is trash, to be clear).
1, The trip planner for some reason is much worse than Google maps. You would think with more taylored info than Google, it would do a bit better. 2, I hate keeping the bus driver waiting, but this app sometimes takes forever to activate a ticket. Loading for 5 seconds > requesting re-download of tickets for 5 seconds > "Something went wrong" message if you try to activate a ticket in the first 6 or 7 seconds of the app being responsive. 3, Lacking info for unfamiliar folks what ticket to buy.
Update: Tried two more times to install. Whitelisted it with my VPN app and that solved the crashing issues. Still not the easiest to use app but it's at least working now. If you have a VPN on your Android phone you'll probably need to whitelist this app to make it work properly. Wow. Ironically, this transit ticket app is a train wreck. Constant crashes after initial installation. Unable to even set up and buy 1st ticket. With all of the similar horrible reviews why isn't this app been updated in over 14 months?
Barely usable after the last update. It was OK before but now constantly freezing and crashing, takes a very long time to load anything. Takes at least 5 min to load your ticket. Can't even preload a ticket because if the phone screen times out and turns off the app crashes. The same thing happens when switching to another app, this one crashes.
App is very unstable. Purchasing the tickets is fine. But activating it and showing it to the bus driver is impossible at times. Best way is to activate it ahead of time and make sure you don't change to another app. This app has crashed on me multiple times and I've had to look like a fool trying to get the ticket to show after I've gotten on the bus because the app keeps closing. This is unacceptable unless you're subminally trying to promote the ORCA cards more. You guys need to fix this!
Should actually function like an ORCA card replacement for one less stupid thing to carry around, and include passes, Monorail, etc. Creating something for "convenience" with less functionality and glitches is a mindless stumble backwards, but that's what I've come to expect from a transit system that prefers to reinvent the wheel every time and ignores the valuable lessons other cities could offer.
Works good for buses for me. You can prebuy many bus tickets; they save on your phone and don't expire. But not lightrail, those are 1 week max. Also lightrail doesn't take certain cards. Payment option just doesn't show up. Possibly confusing. Probably bad if you lose phone service before activating ticket, which can happen underground. When you first open app in the morning it wants to redownload tickets for some reason. Doesn't seem to react until app is again opened.
Pretty Decent Some Opps: 1. Make it possible to gift tickets. 2. This is a long shot, but often when commuting, one's phone dies; it's impossible to prove payment at that point. Perhaps a confirmation code or the ticket number? Something to tell the driver. I've literally been stuck mid-commute without a ride because I had no cash and no phone.
This app is functional at best. It gets the job done (eventually) but god is it annoying. It is such a slow app and sometimes takes almost a full minute to open, which is irritating when you're trying to get on a bus... If you're at all able, just skip this app and get an ORCA card instead-- much less hassle.
Convenient, but super buggy. I stopped using the app for a while, but wanted to give it a second chance. My purchased tickets are locked to my old phone, and in order to access them I need to contact customer support. The problem with that is it doesnt tell me how to contact them. I can't find an email or support info in the app.
It runs very slow at times and I don't know if it's a function of spotty Wi-Fi or a spotty app. When it works it is a welcome alternative to carrying change around.
I love using this App to use Mobile Bus Tickets because it makes it more easy for me to board a bus and to be able to show the driver my fare. But the Issues i have been having are lots of freezing, force closing, not working properly, lagging, slowness. I needs to go away. I love using this app to the fullest.
There is no schedule to find out when train arrives or departs, not sure if train runs on Sunday Mother's Day. If, for some reason, you schedule a trip and find that some how the date, of planned trip, is automatically changed to the day you're scheduling there is no way to cancel. This is not a good app for those who never use the train.
The app is handy, once you learn how to use it. It is not very intuitive and it takes some time to learn how to use it. I wouldn't recommend trying to learn it on the fly. Even transit operators are baffled when asked to help navigate through the screens.
I have multiple metro tickets showing as available, I bought all at once thinking it would be easier to use but now when I click to use one it asks me to download something and says tickets are unavailable (eventhough they have not been activated). I have to buy an additional ticket every time now. Please fix this. Otherwise it's a great option to have.
Sluggish and requires too many clicks
A serviceable way to buy a one-off ticket or pass for a specific agency like King County Metro or Sound Transit. "OR" is the key part here because unlike the ORCA cards and the "PugetPass" option in the myORCA app these passes don't appear to work for transfers between agencies (e.g. take Metro bus to the Sound Transit Link light rail). Additionally light rail fare is distance-based, so you need to select the stations you are traveling between - but the Northgate Link Extension stations (U District, Roosevelt, Northgate) still have not been added as choices in this app despite being open for about 7 months now. Ultimately I hope this app - which allows purchasing tickets without an ORCA card - gets combined with the new myORCA app - which seems to allow adding passes to your ORCA card but not for buying one-off tickets. Together the two apps would be a one-stop shop for transit fare. Separately they work, but not ideally.
