Trunow - Find the cheapest gas

So far, it has been a terrible experience. The gas prices haven't been updated since before the pandemic. If I try to update them, the text entry doesn't work; the entry gets cleared for everything but the first unleaded option. The alternative is to press the up button 200+ times... Also, the background service for Location Services keeps running after the app is closed, even if you select the permission option for "only while using app". You have to force kill the app; swiping isn't enough.

This app stopped working on my Samsung Note 8 phone. It will open but will not respond to the touchscreen at all. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and tried it on my other phone. I've been messaging them for months about the problem, with no resolution. Also, they keep wanting my customer id and stop responding when I tell them repeatedly that I can't access it because the app will not respond, it will only open. This app pays very little and customer service sucks! And you can't get your money!

Just got back from an 8,000 mile road trip. I have used this app for a while, and it does NOT work as described. Fully 40% of receipts are rejected. And the money that is accumulated has been impossible to spend. There were NO Retailers available in CA, AZ, NM, CO, WY, NE, SD, ND, MN, WI, IN, IL, KY, TN, AR, or KS. Very disappointing. It is also difficult to update pricing when the app shows where you are, but says that the ststion you are at is too far away.

It has to be specific receipts. It won't take the one you get when you pay, it has to be the one once your done. Also, like most of us, or credit/debit cards expire/change. App will get tonwhere It states there's too many cards & reject your receipts. When I 1st signed up it was so easy & I was able to cash out (not much, but something). After that cash out, nothing due to having new cards or too many. And with Covid, not all of us want to be handling cash to go into a gas station every time.

The idea of this app is cool because it needs a lot of work. First, I'm really surprised that they dont have any partners in California.. so I have to earn $10 to redeem $5 through PayPal. Also, it usually gives me the amount of points according to how much I pay for gas (e.g., 33 points for $33). However, this month, the app decided to only give me half the points for all the receipts I've uploaded (e.g., 16 points for $33)... I don't understand when it decides to give you all points versus half

Uninstalled this app after I'd built up to $9.68 (You need a $10 balance in order to withdraw $5 via PayPal), and then all my receipts started being rejected for having used more than 8 cards. Guess what. I used the app a while. I lost my wallet and replaced all my cards, and I have several. The app pays you back so little anyway, it had taken me something like 6+ months (as a delivery driver) even to get the $5 available to withdraw, which I ultimately couldn't get anyway. Huge waste of time.

If I could give negative stars I would. We have multiple vehicles and debit cards, which apparently aren't allowed. I've also been a member for months and every current receipt I turn in gets rejected for being "before my sign up date"--which is not true. Also, if you spend over $50 total at the store (gas + purchase) that is an automatic rejection. So, never fill up. In other words, don't waste your time with this app.

I'm still using this app but keep in mind they take 50% if you cash out to PayPal. so I have $12 now but would only get $6. And it takes quite a while to get that much. (but it is free money). my app always freezes though and it takes so long to take a picture of the receipt I get frustrated and then have to close it and re open multiple times.

I gas up nearly every day. If I spend $60 I receive 30 points not 60. I reached above $10 and it in theory allows me to cash out and receive $5. I tried it and it's been pending for several weeks now. I believe this app is a fraud. I'm worried about information they received from all of us taking pictures of our receipts. Every other app I use when I cash out I received the funds immediately. So I don't understand what the hold up is. If you are thinking this is a rewards app you are mistaken.

Good in theory but never works. Only can upload a photo while at the pump, can't do once home or when time may be more convenient. Also 90% get rejected for either not being a Station in their network (which doesn't say before you waist your time) or because the receipt is too long making it very small to read but they will also reject if you don't show full receipt. Out of 18 receipts so far only 5 were approved earning a whopping .44 cents. Overall not worth the time yet

The app acts like it is frozen. If you keep tapping on a section of the screen, it will eventually pick up your input (e.g. Scan receipt button, back arrow, etc.). Scrolling through previous entries or manually adding a date is almost impossible because of the bug though.

*Edited* due to my own mistake which I'm willing to admit😘 alright app, payout does take some time compared to some other receipt apps. Ive referred a couple friends and submitted a handful of receipts now and have a little over $3 so far. I can't use the cash out option with a retailer because there aren't any in my city yet unfortunately, so that kind of sucks, but hopefully there will be some added soon. It says you can cash out but only get half the amount in $. Overall I think it's a decent app. It's nice to see where the cheapest gas is nearby. I do think it's a battery drainer, but so are most apps. Hope there will be places to cash in soon

ZERO STARS. I think this app is a SCAM. They usually deny my receipts because they claim either it isn't a full receipt (it is the entire receipt the station gives me!) or that I have used too many credit cards. They have the Exxon store #, so they are identifiable. Sorry, card numbers do change. Ive sent emails for help to them with no response. I drive a lot, yet in two years havent even earned $5.00 of course it doesnt help when half of your receipts are rejected for nonsense reasons.

Very misleading and difficult app to navigate. Lists gas prices WAY lower then they actually are. Current gas prices are roughly 4.60/g the app lists all gas prices around me from 1.79 to 2.69/g. Doesn't say anywhere that they won't accept receipts over $100. I only downloaded and used this app as it was listed as the highest rated gas cash app.... Extremely disappointed. Uninstalled.

Full screen ad pop-ups when the app isn't even open? Oh hell no, 1 star and uninstalling! Edit: Don't lie to me in your reply. It came from the play store, so it's the right app. The ad showed Truenow when on the recent apps screen. Don't lie, you do have ads. Don't trust these liers.

Horrid. Other apps are quick and efficient. This one takes half your paltry earnings to "cash out" and then when you do actually upload receipts, they don't count. 7 credit cards used? What nonsense is this? Other apps are worth my time. This one isn't. Find other apps to help get your "beer money."

Lately every receipt is being rejected. I was told payment could not be verified! What gas receipt have you ever seen without a payment type or form??? I was told a receipt was too old, got gas that day! I was told picture was unclear even though it was. My last receipt was rejected because it said it was not retailer verified...what does that mean? Seriously thinking about uninstalling the app. Had it since 2019 and only managed to get $8.83. I had GetUpside for 6 months and got $32.47 already!

This app has gone downhill since it began. Yes it is free money but most receipts are rejected for one reason or another and since there aren't any participating retailers near me I only get 50% of my earnings. They've lowered amounts earned per $1. It is really not worth the effort. Once I cashout I will be looking for another savings app that isn't so sketchy.

I give this app 2 stars. I continue to use it and for the most part it seems an ok app. I don't like how this app rejects some of my receipts just because it's from the same place on the same date. Sometimes I make several purchases from the same places at different times of the same day...including gas since we have more than 1 car...so I should be able to use all those receipts but nope, this app rejects those receipts. So for that reason the rating dropped from 4 stars to 2 stars.

Great idea but needs work. You need to have the option to take more than 1 photo per reciept for long ones. Half the time the long ones will process without the date at the bottom. But if you're trying to redeem a deal you have to have the date and if the reciept is long then 1 pic won't work. update: System wont give correct reward points and emailing gets you nowhere. im missing 55 points, at least probably more if im being honest. i used to love this app now im debating deleting it. :(

Really not worth the effort or phone space to use this app. It takes forever to get to $10, and then they take half your funds to cash out to PayPal ($5 minimum) because there's no retailers nearby to cash out to. I'm usually good with the "a penny saved is a penny earned" adage, but when you spend almost $1k in gas to get a $6 cash out....

This app is a joke. You can only redeem half your balance for cash. You can redeem the full balance at an affiliate store... which apparently do not exist. You have to have at least a $10 balance to redeem $5. I finally got to $10, redeemed my $5, and the other $5 disappeared. I deleted the app. Not worth the hassle. Don't bother with Trunow.

Takes forever to get to the minimum $10, then charges you $5 to cash out! WTH? They offer giftcards at no charge, however there are always "no retailers nearby". A complete rip off! AND their email address automatically returns as undeliverable. Don't waste your time trying to help this company.

I've been unable to use my balance at any "participating" gas station. I'm having issues with my receipts being rejected for having more than 8 forms of payment on my account. This is bs. I use the same forms of payment, but it shows as different cards depending if I use my phone, watch, or actual card to pay. I have gotten new cards and the receipts are now being rejected. You should be able to update your current cards and delete the old ones you no longer use. Customer service is no help.

They find reasons to refuse your receipts that aren't mentioned in the terms of service, and refuse to listen to reason. They also track you everywhere you go, and the tracking is really hard on the phones battery. Not worth the trouble.

App itself is a work in progress, has potenial. Customer Service SUCKS!! Pretty much non existent. Have to repeatedly email to get any kind of response. And when they do respond and you respond to their response they never get back to you. They do not have a customer service phone number and when they do contact you via phone the number is always blocked. Their reward structure sucks just as much as their customer service because there is no structure. does not work anywhere in the Northeast

Don't waste your time with this app. Trunow changes rules/reward amounts without notifications to any user. Also never answers emails requesting help, or info on how reward points are earned based on the dollar amount spent. Not worth wasting your time or your phones data with. App is using over 1.5 gigs of storage. Rewards went from one cent per dollar to less the a quater of a cent per dollar.

Horrible locked me out of my account and I cant use my $30. that I have accumulated. I've been emailing then and no one can help, keep saying uninstall and install back. doesn't work I keep getting an error message that says 'oops something went wrong" and tells me to email them but they still dont help.. this is a waste of time seeing they wont let me get into the app to cash in to get gas. I STILL CANNOT LOG IN

Good app but needs a few improvements.. There are no retail locations along the East coast at all... I would rather spend my full amount at a retailer vs. Have 50% deducted for PayPal. Overall I have had no issues and prefer it over getupside because there are greater locations available on trunow.

Not worth the effort. Customer service is rude and lacking. Be warned they limit the number of cards and will just start rejecting submissions. Ok, that's fair enough, but the kicker is updating card details on your account. You can only update account ONE time ever. So if you lose your credit card or get a new one, you're SOL. Also, as others have pointed out, unless you redeem with like an Exxon within a few miles your cashout is cut in half! No options for me! Can't even get to $5! Weak.
