Truss Me!

Designed by a true rocket scientist, Truss Me helps you learn to design truss structures while having fun! At each challenge, design trusses that are light and strong and you will earn precious golden nuts.
Truss Me utilizes state of the art simulation techniques used by aerospace, mechanical, and civil engineers to provide the most realistic behavior for your trusses. If well designed, your trusses will resist as they would in real life*. If your truss has flaws, the structure will fail realistically*!

Truss Me works well with dynamic problems as well, so you can build from bridges, roofs, and cranes to impact problems involving crash of spacecrafts into the ground!

As an instructor, you can teach your students how to design trusses using the freestyle mode. In this mode, you can design an arbitrary truss, e.g. a bridge, roof, crane, or even a spacecraft, and show visually the difference between tension and compression. You can also explain the difference between failure under tension and compression. Then, you can use the challenges to organize a truss design competition, in which students would compete to achieve the maximum score at each level. Truss design competitions utilizing Truss Me! have been carried out at top schools in the U.S and abroad!

Usage TIPS:

1) Joints are fundamental, as you can only build bars from one existing joint to another, and add supports and loads to existing joints only.2) If you keep your finger down when adding a joint, you will see a grid. Without lifting the finger, you can drag the joint to be aligned with the grid.3) You can also drag existing joints using the same procedure described above.4) You can pinch and zoom your truss with 2 fingers to tune small-size structural details. Moving two fingers also allows you to pan the structure around.5) Red color means tension and blue compression. Blue bars will fail at much lower loads due to buckling!6) Please refer to the educational section on our website for more details!

Best structure simulation game! It takes into account many realistic factors like buckling, structure weight, material yielding/stretching. Real and unique challenges. Only problem is the challenges are so good you'll want more. I've yet to find another structure game that is even half as good as this. Please update more or make version 2.

i like this... but are there only 25 levels or is that just me not getting 3 stars on every level? anyway. this is like making bridges with spaghetti with out the mess. a few other things like cranks etc would be cool. a four bar linkage simulator? i would pay for something educational AND practical. i want something for design rather than a game as such. theres nothing else out there as close to what i want as this though. if it was crossed with "motiongen" then it would be perfect!

No instructions at all towards the objective for any level. No labels on any materials or descriptions of what they do. The physics of the game is cool and fun to play aimlessly for the first few levels. But quickly gets boring with no symmetry tools for building bigger trusses etc.

A beautiful game designed poorly- No instructions/tutorials/labels. Items are so small and difficult to place over the graph. Old UI.

I have no idea what to do with this. Everything I try does nothing. A short tutorial, or some written instructions in a menu would really help.

Can anyone plz tell me the units that are used in grids ,is it in mm or meters or centimeters etc 2nd thing what is the weight of bars small and large 3rd what is the weight of metal balls. Plz reply i wanna start this game as soon as possible.

Great game. Did help me a little for my statics course. Unfortunately the masses are static. There is no option to uses strings, or springs. But it is ok.

challenging. could have used a description for some levels but thoroughly enjoyable. more levels plz.

Have KG on the weights, earthquakes, wind and other external factors that could be tested. Great so far !!

I'm actually taking an intro to structural engineering class in college and this helped a ton.

Amazing experience, with realistic structural behavior, including buckling and dynamic effects.

Nice Game. Completed all the levels with 3 stars except last one.

It could use extra updates on materials

Ok.. The game looks interesting.. but never having gamed before... how do you dpadd the bars and such. Your assuming everyone knows how..

It will be better if there is a free body diagram and calculation

Game not technical

Spent hours and days playing this. Definitely worth a try if you're into games that require creativity to solve problems. One thing though; when placing connecting points, it's hard to see exactly where I'm placing it because it's under my thumb. It'd be better if there was an option to offset the connection point up, and to the left of where my thumb is. But anyways, great game. Looking forward to another.

Great, fun and challenging physics game. I loved that it was actually difficult, to get 3 nuts on each level. Unlimited components but with a weight ratio limit is a pleasant premise. Please create more challenges soon. I will be eagerly awaiting them. Also, a leader board would be fun; just please not one of those services that get hacked with impossible scores.

Really enjoy this. Have some difficulty with placing the connectors, even when zoomed in; they tend to shift when I lift my finger. One thing I would really like to see (at least I have not found it) is to be able to save a "version" that I can revert back to. Even better if multiple points could be saved. That would make it easier to try to improve on early attempts. With only 20 undos, it is sometimes hard to recover from improvements that actually weren`t.

This is really fun and actually challenging! It could use a sleeker presentation and a slightly more fine tuned UI, but those are negligible complaints. One thing to note is that it consumes a lot of battery power. All things considered, this is a great game, and if you like engineering give it a try.

I would like to see them add a FAQ or instructions section in game so that I don't have to go to reviews for questions. Also, make it easier to lock into points easier such as midpoints or points directly located below a weight or on a line of support. Too often i spend more time perfecting where my points go than thinking about the problem. As others have said a leaderboard would be nice. Also a way to create challenges in freestyle and share them for others. 5 stars for making learning fun and showing the grid with lines vertical and horizontal. Consider the ability to lock in place after holding your finger idle. A lot of times when i pick my finger up it slides a unit or two in the wrong direction.

It's just the game i was looking for! Amazing simulation and so easy to build and test structures. Only thing, on lvl 14, i built a structure and it stayed together, did not collapse, but it scored me 0... Some of the members did flash red though... Also, some more lvls woud be good. Brilliant game
