I downloaded this as I loved the original game from the late 80s but after about 30 minutes of play I stopped as i didn't want my nostalgic love for the game to be tarnished. If you want to really enjoy this, get hold of an old Sega Mega Drive, a joystick and go nuts as it's a fun simple game. Having your finger permanently on the screen obscures the Gidan ships that love to sneak up from behind and from the sides. The need for gems, the ads, the lack of manoeuvrebility just ruins it for me.
Sick game. Love these games from a great period in the history of the computer games. Shame about the thumb controlling, it does obscure your vision. However, if you have an s pen it does make things a lot easier.
In the menu make sure to click FULLSCREEN to toggle back to the original aspect ratio. This will make it look less stretched and there's an area for your thumb to move around. Devs, could you move the game view all the way to the top so we can move our thumbs at the bottom? Also give us a sensitivity slider? I'm often moving my thumb over the game screen and block my own view.
Just like the late 1988 arcade game that would a major forerunner to the shoot em genre!!! Truxton is a somewhat grandpappy to the genre..While it's one of the earliest of it's time and it does show, it's aged very well and it works surprisingly well on mobile (much better than I had thought?!). I've played every version of this from the original arcade MAME, the 1989 Sega Genesis and even the Turbografx 16!! Truxton is a punishing game that can be unforgiving but that's how it was back then but this version is alittle more forgiving and accessible this time! I even managed to clear stage 1 and that in itself can be tough to do (never got any further so far). It's hard to tell which port this is and I don't really get the diamond factor which is pretty useless...Yes there are ads but the game is free to play and the later likes like Radiant Silvergun & Ikaruga owe their lines to Truxton as well. Please please port Truxton 2 "Tatsujin Oh" because it's a worthy run up to the original and there's no way to play the sequel as it's rare and very hard to find!!! TRUXTON II Please!!!
Truxton is such a timeless classic in my opinion, great reason to take the Genesis out from time to time. In this Android version the touch screen controls work really well. Setting the screen to the oroginal size is a must.
Thanks for bringing this classic to mobile! One of my favourite arcade shooter, this one, along with 1945 series and Raiden. Gameplay is standard 90's arcade shmups, and the graphics are fine - I wish there's an option to turn off the bilinear filtering bcs I'm sure some people will prefer the crisp pixels of the originals. Controls could use some tweaks too, like a sensitivity slider and the ability to change button positions. Other than that, this is an excellent port of an arcade classic. 👍
I got this game through play pass and I still receive ads. If you are thinking about paying for the play pass, do not waste your time or money. Play pass is full of the worst of the worst mobile games and apps. The majority of the games and apps that play pass offers are games that most people would not waste their time downloading any ways.
This is what I've been looking for! I spent many quarters and spent enjoyable time trying to beat this game in the arcades. When Genesis arrived,... Bought it, played it, beat it on almost all levels! That really hard one,... Impossibly nasty!! Thanks for bringing this game back!!!
I would suggest not installing this! Has way too many ads, this should have zero ads! Gameplay is good, but I'm paying for Play Pass. Get rid of the ads! Update: Since installing this, I get 20-40 SPAM emails per day! I've had this account for years and normally get 1-4 per WEEK. I'm uninstalling this junk, might be fun to play but ads out the wazoo and SPAM. No thank you.
It looks like it would have been fun in a nostalgic sense, but for the frequent ads and more so the appeals for a rating, but only "if you like it". As it is that sort of thing ruins any retro type enjoyment to me.
Port of the almighty arcade version. This is my all time favourite shmup, I used to bang so much money into the arcade machine as a child. Released in 1988, it still holds up today. Ahead of its time, this is the game that influenced so many later great vertical shooters, pretty much gave birth to the eventual bullet hell games. Plus... THAT MUSIC. Long live Toaplan! I would love and absolutely would buy a no-ad version.
I love Truxton! Thank you for making this sweet touchscreen Android port of one of the best arcade shoot-em-ups ever! The touchscreen control is buttery smooth and it looks and sounds great on my Helio P22-based smartphone. Well done!
Controls are fine, the screen resolution is stretched pretty bad. Would you like to see the definition of pay to win? Download now and spawn with full power for just $2.99....
Not designed for touch. Too many enemies come from the bottom where your finger covers up the screen. If use of a controller was enabled, it would be fun.
Outstanding job! This, Twin Cobra and many other classic arcade shmups ate my quarters and kept me coming back for more. You've done a fine job recreating that here! Samsung S10+ if it helps for point of reference.
Just like the original, but might have been better in a wide screen format on my phone, and maybe put the controls either side of screen so as your fingers are not in the way.
Games looks and feels great. My hands are not see tru. So the touch controls are a bit to get used to. Needs bluetooth controller support.
I have to reflect what other users have said. Aspect ratio issues aside, this is a very good version of the much-loved Taoplan shooter, but there is a deal-breaker: intrusive ads. I don't play any game where I am forced to watch ads. I would happily pay to get rid of them but there is no option. Of course, there are plenty of options to buy gems. This is pure greed, devs thinking of their own pockets and not the gaming experience. Until this is fixed, I am uninstalling.
Game is awesome onestly it brings back alot of memories. 1 issue only. When the Red spaceship gets its full power there should big 2 rings going around the spaceship as shields thats the only thing different otherwise 5stars cheers
I love this game it super fun and it's hard after a while, graphics are excellent only negative thing is I wish you could save your progress in the game.
Great game, controls make it difficult to use and obstructs the ship, also cant use the smartbomb easily, also drop the badly aggressive ads, spoils the game, best versions of this aside from the arcade were the FM towns marty PC Engine and megadrive versions, classics
Game is not that bad but I have a tiny screen and giant finger so it is hard for me to see where the projectiles from the enemy go and where I am so it's a little more difficult than it really should have been
This game is awesome, more so if you're old enough to have played the original on genesis or another console. The problem with the mobile version of this game is there are no controllers, you must use your thumb. Problem is, a game like this can only be played with full view of the screen, and your thumb blocks your view of the screen. Impossible to play at a certain point once things get going. Great soundtrack and visuals. Very nostalgic.
