TTRSS-Reader

NOTE: I won't respond to ratings on the app anymore since I really don't care for your bad reviews if you don't manage to write me about your problem by filing a bugreport or at least sending me an e-mail ([email protected])!
This is a client application for the project "Tiny Tiny RSS" (from http://tt-rss.org/), a PHP-based online feedreader which runs on your own webspace. If you want to host your own feedreader, want a cross-device-solution and don't want to use Google Reader (for whatever reason) this is the app you want! This reader offers automatic update on startup, filtering articles by status and efficient browsing through categories and the virtual categories "Fresh", "Starred" and "Published Articles" as well as Labels you can define by yourself. You can browse the articles offline when they have been synchronized before and the ImageCache can be used to pre-load all included images from the articles too.

_________FEATURES:☆ Swipe for faster browsing☆ Optional navigation with volume-buttons☆ View and download attached media files☆ Cache articles and images locally☆ Share URLs☆ Easily mark things as read, starred or publish/comment them☆ SSL with self-signed certificates☆ Fast JSON-Parsing with stream-based parser GSON☆ Scheduled updates via Tasker/Locale☆ Layout optimized for tablets☆ Dark and light themes available☆ many more, Changelog and Feature-List can be found on the project-page...

__________IMPORTANT:You need to enable the API for the user-account in the user-preferences.

____________PERMISSIONS:
• "modify/delete SD card contents": Download of attached media files, ImageCache.
• "full Internet access": Connection to your Server.
• "view network state": Check for mobile network/wifi.
• "control vibrator": Vibrate when last article is reached.
• "wake lock": Keep CPU running, necessary for the ImageCache.

____FAQ:Q: Why can't I update this app ("Signature incorrect" error)?A: Remove the application and install it again. Sorry about that but it's the only way. And not my fault. Someone included this app in a custom android build on your device or you installed it from a third-party-source and it isn't signed with my key, so there is no way you can update it.

Q: When I switch to offline-mode, how do I know when the caching is done?A: There is no caching. The only difference to normal mode is that no connectivity is necessary and changes are stored locally. When switching to online again the spinning indicator should show while changes are uploaded. Caching occurs only when starting the app (everything except images) or the ImageCache is started (everything).

Q: Why don't articles appear as "read" when I did read them on my PC?A: Most of the time this is no problem at all. But. There is simply no way to get this information from the Server-API. I have to guess how many articles could have been read since the last update of the local data and would probably transmit much more data then necessary in the end. So it *can
* happen. But mostly it doesn't.

Q: Quote from the comments: "SSL doesn't work anymore -> deinstall"A: Yeah, deinstall. Don't want people like you around. Thanks. My fault. I broke some functionality by trying to make the app more secure and I didn't have the resources to make sure this didn't happen. Mostly because THIS THING IS FREE. I fixed it btw, but people like you don't care. So yeah, deinstall please.

Please feel free to contact me via mail or on the project-page, I am happy to receive bug-reports, feature-requests, donations or (of course) also critique.

This reader works great on my phone, but won't open any content on my tablet. It connects with the server, shows all my categories and how many unread articles are available in each. If I try to open a category, it does not open it, but marks the category as fully read. The Play store tells me, "this app is not optimised for your device" so maybe it isn't supposed to work on a tablet.

Switching from local RSS aggregation to a TT-RSS server was a major quality of life improvement, and this app is a vital part of usability from mobile devices. Nothing else I've yet seen compares.

This app is perfect for the need and offer the same wonderful experience as the web browser one. And it's free. What else ?

Excellent. Easy setup (don't forget to switch on the api on the server!) Nice app, easy to use. Very happy, thanks...

Not working. Just shows a message of 'I was unable to connect to your tiny RSS instance'. Useless. Basic functionality missing.

I like how I can label feeds and generate a new RSS feed for each label. Perfect for sharing interesting posts with friends.

latest version is 100% broken on galaxy tab s5e, nothing respond, had to manually downgrade and it was such pain and a waste of time.

Just works great, perfect compliment to your ttrss server

After a recent update (yesterday) the application cannot fetch my feeds.

Oreo support is back. Thanks!

It's great.

Navigation within feeds organised into folders structure should be improved: going back from feed preview screen is teleporting you into top of tree, and not to the subfolder as expected. Another point which I'm missing: short preview of feed directly in the list with new feeds. Beside of both points the app ist very good.

Why is it so hard to swipe to the next article? I have used other ttrss apps and i don't have to swipe across the entire screen just to advance? Love the ui, just hard to use without effort.

Very nice and simple app. I would love to see 2 things implemented, though: 1. Dual TTRSS account support (separate users). 2. Nested folders/categories (selecting top folder should select and display all subfolders' enties).

If you use tiny tiny rss, this app is for you. Perfect in any sense. It works perfectly if you follow instructions. Enable api in your ttrss installation and enter the url and login details. Can't be any easier.

The best RSS feed reader as far as I'm concerned.

Tho. E. L. Oct 23, 2016

It works, but scrolling in larger stories is very choppy

Dea. C. Aug 12, 2016

It's free, no ads and works well. Not the prettiest app, but the one I use as it needs the least amount of taps to actually look at a news article.

Kyl. H. Jul 22, 2016

Looks like it won't work again. I hope Nils can fix the issue with getting fresh feeds.

No problem using it with my server, with HTTP auth over TLS. Great app

This is a great app!

Cle. D. Sep 17, 2015

Does its job very well, responsive, fast and has a bunch of options. Maybe navigation could be slightly improved.

The last update broke http authentication. Was working perfectly for me until recently.

New update messed up Mark Feed Read Button. Marks ALL articles read, instead of the folder your in

Don. N. Dec 31, 2014

Even with occasional the quirks, it works very well for me. Thank you

Ada. D. Dec 29, 2014

All the features I want and need. I just wish the back button in the header bar was wider. It's very slender and hard to touch on both my s3 and Nexus 7.

Ale. R. Nov 24, 2014

At least for a reasonably big list of feeds

Rob. G. Nov 18, 2014

The largest button in the app marks every article as read without a confirmation or undo. The articles themselves look bad, especially the dark gray background on the black headline text. Article navigation is also clumsy.
