Used this tuner for years. Back on android recently and thought I'll just pay for it. Great tuner, so worth it. Or so I thought. Since I paid for it, every time I open it theres a pop up for data harvesting. Every time I select ad-free it re-directs me to playstore to re-pay for it. Every time I try and set my preferences, it endlessly spins me in circles. Uninstalled, reinstalled. Same. Even though I've paid I can't use it without having my data harvested. Wish I'd known before I wasted money.

I like the visibility and the fact that it shows the pitch number. The down side in ( my ) experience is the app freezes up while tuning and like all the app tuners that I have tried, it doesn't pick up the low E very well. If those 2 issues were solved, I would give the app 5 stars.

Good app..changed and retuned strings and guitar sounds good after 4 years. Markings/info however give no suggestion as to total hz you need to find that elsewhere..'appears' it is 440hz from 6th to 1st over 4 octaves..is sufficient for these purposes. Probably best you recall by ear your song and play not the other way around by using the app tuning to chord before playing. Best after tuning to practice practice practice. Don't rely on the app other than for tuning. DL Metronome Pro too.

I downloaded this app to tune my 19 string lyre I recently purchased. I use a clip on tuner for my guitar and other stringed instruments but there is no where to clip it on a lyre. At the same time I also download a few other tuners. This one is the best. Even the strobe tuner that I paid for was not as good. It registers fast. I like the way it shows not just the note name but also the register and the hz. It helps to know how far off you are.

Generally a great app, and I would like to support the devs with Premium, however I feel €10 is overpriced. I would consider paying between €2-€4. And I believe you would receive many more purchases resulting in higher profit, if you lowered the price or introduced "pay-what-you-want".

Was really happy having paid for gstrings i got waves. Used them for years. Great tuners. Recently reinstalled due to phone issues. Same gplay account. Now it won't verify that i have paid... So i can't use either without ads or trial period. Please help. Back to 5 stars if this gets sorted.

I use this tuner daily. It is more reliable than the tuner on my D.I. and is calibrated down to the 10th of a hertz. Recommended for intermediate to advanced players as it doesn't have a good sounding pitch to match to. You should have some general knowledge of how your instrument sounds when tuned correctly.

Does not respond when you try to tune. I've been sitting here for the past 4 minutes trying to tune the same string when the needle nor the name of the note does not change when I play. It's frustrating and I'm very disappointed.

Good little tuner, easy to use, even works with some background noise. It has presets for some other tunings too, I enjoy that. With out this app I probably wouldn't have tried some of them out. It really got me out of a slump in my playing.

the app is hit or miss. Sometimes it doesn't register any sound and you have to close it. It besides has a boot receiver, meaning it auto-starts when your phone boots. Why? why is that needed? it only makes the phone slower

Very precise for tuning guitar, sometimes even so precise it requires patience to use. Not the best for guitar students maybe, but great for professionals, and great for string/wind players.

I've used gStrings for probably about 7 years. Then new CONSENT to ads screen just cycles around 2 windows and doesn't let me into the app. Such a shame. UNINSTALLED. I spent ages trying to get my favourite tuner working. In the end abandoned it. Had better things to do. Notice your URL says "GO READ WIKIPEDIA INSTEAD". That's useful.

Generally great tuning app, but right now (22.02.2022) the ad confirmation doesn't let me use the app anymore. I tried both not consenting to personalized ads and consenting and neither worked, the ad confirmation screen just pops back up, whatever option I choose.

It seems to be more accurate than some other apps, it doesn't just light up green when you are in the ballpark, like some, and it works chromatically when I move my capo on the guitar

No response from developer? I have had Waves/gStrings since the beginning, on my new Samsung s22+ I am unable to verify "Waves" through gStrings to remove ads, I have never had this problem before, all trouble shooting/FAQ, etc... applied, will change review if developer contacts me.

I started using this app on a Galaxy S5 and it was great. I moved to the S7 few years after and still my go to Tuner. I'm now on a Galaxy 20 & as Ive seen some others mention, newer version of Gstrings on this phone is lackluster, and unresponsive most of the time. Bummer.

The only problem is that, sometimes it shows completly wrong octave to what i am tuning. If i tune my E string it shows E1 but not E2, the same happens for the A and the D. It makes it a litle finiky to tune your lower strings.

Sorted it. Make sure you are off line, turn off wifi and data before using it. I tried following the instructions, that I did not understand, but never got rid of the Google pages until I used it off line.

War. W. May 15, 2022

Used to be a good tuner app, but now won't let you do anything, just keeps blocking the damn screen with a stupid consent form for adverts, which still stays up even if you consent the frigging ads. Totally useless now... Other aps serve ads without needing ask for consent.

I was trying to tune my string from C#4 to C4 and it kept telling me it was C3 even though it sounded right. When I was tuning down, it would go from C#4 straight to C3 no matter how little I changed it. It sounded right to my ear and so I tried another app and it read it as C4 so I'm trusting that one over this one.

The tuning app I install on every new phone. Has ads, but they are not obnoxious. I've used it on electric/acoustic guitars and bass. Works great.

It's a good app to know what note you are singing in... but it's sometimes inaccurate because when I sing the exact same not in chest and head it shows that the head is an octave higher than the chest when in fact it's just the same note...

Simply the best app for accurate simplistic guitar tuning. Many user friendly functions but you'll ever use one anyway. And it'll be simple and accurate

Great for when in a pinch, but you'd do yourself a massive favour by getting yourself a physical tuner. The app does what it can with the hardware of your device and does a good job when isolated with no background noise, but if anything else makes a sound it doesn't do so well. Not that the app is to blame so much as its just a limitation of using your phone to tune your instrument. The accuracy of the tuning won't be perfect, but when in need, this app can get you through a performance or two.
