Very poor text editor. Does too many things it "thinks" is helpful. Switching the keyboard to symbols, Turbo Editor will switch it back. Double tapping the shift for All Caps, Turbo Editor will switch it back after one key. Also it changes the - to the – character, automatically screwing up monospaced text diagrams. Please give an option to turn off auto formatting and auto keyboard. Otherwise, it will be a frustrating app to work with.
Started out super useful but the more I use it the more I realized annoying it is. Scrolling dosent update the syntax highlighting properly so stuff dosent highlight for a few seconds and on top of that if you pause while scrolling the app sort of snaps to a position when the colors finally update. The main problem those is it just downright dosent work with any custom keyboard.
Awesome text editor! This is actually what I was searching for! This can open any file like the windows notepad, and no matter how large the codes maybe, takes some time to load, but never crashes unlike other text editors on Android..Thanks to the developer for this app! (However a nice icon will make it look nice at home screen 😁)
No ability to get back to menu in many situations - like if you simple close the menu without opening a file first. You have to exit the app and re-enter! If you turn on "open last file" you can never open another file or even get to preferences, until you use another program to rename the file so it can't open it, at which point the editor asks for SU privs, then finally opens the "splash" menu.
Was a great app for a while. I have been using it to take notes inside my OneDrive. Unfortunately since a few months the editor refreshes the text file every second so I can't use swipe typing anymore because the keyboard refreshes with the file. Will go back to 5 stars once that is fixed.
Amazing, I had been trying a lot of text editors for my phone and this is definitely the best :) the functionality is very useful and makes it fast to do everything you need. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is cause there is no syntax highlight for Go, I'd really love to have syntax highlight for the go language :) In case you do it, just dont use the one from Prettify because it just sets the comments to gray and nothing else :( :) amazing job with your app
Trash. Lags and freezes when opening large files without newlines. Guess what? Sometimes text files generated by apps don't have newlines and some people, like me, need a functional text editor to view/edit them. Make a decent app that can display things without freezing and I'll come back
Great app. SD card can be accessed on Android 10 using the "Storage Access Framework" option. Haven't updated to 11 on my phone yet (Pixel 3 XL) but I do not use a SD card. But, to give 1 star for an older, open source, app makes the reviewer an idiot. Eat paint, for real.
This app is not ideal when trying to write simple shell scripts. Every time I saved a file it would insert cal at the end over and over. Possibly because of the line ending with rc.local. That isn't the type of bug anyone should have to deal with and that alone has to potential to break things. I cannot recommend.
Decent effort and open source. Does not seem to work with BT keyboard with SGT10S: selection with arrow keys doesn't work and capital letters aren't supported (shift does not seem to work).
Doesn't open files beyond a certain size--actually it does open them, just doesn't show the whole thing, and gives no warning. I opened a 600KB file and couldn't figure out why my searches were failing.
Great plus open source :) But missing : - tabs for multiple files - a button to open side menus - listing multiple folder and content on the menu (like acode) - some additional buttons at the bottom bar like a save button - publish the app on fdroid
Good editor. Saving works much better since I turned on Storage Access Framework in preferences. Syntax highlighting is a handy option but seems to be one language only.
Buggy. Never used to be, but has lately not been saving files correctly. You open a file, delete a few lines, then open it again and those deleted lines are still there, and they're conflicting with new lines you'll add.
This is precisely what I was looking for. I had a few issues with it initially, but changing some of the settings in the Preferences menu fixed just about all of them. It may not fit everyone's needs, but for what I need it for, I couldn't have found anything better.
Whats the use of this app if cut and paste is broken and does not work properly i keep my finger on selected text and nothing. been in settings and looked at long press times etc nothing changed there, uninstalled and reinstalled app still not working and yes cleared cache etc still not working might uninstall this perminately until fixed thanks
A 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 editor! Unfortunately Turbo Editor (T.E.) was last updated 2015, (it’s 2022: 7 yrs...). That’s why I rated it 4⭐s; 𝘂𝗻-𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁’𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲! T.E. updated would be 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 in Market! A 7-yr old app holding its own against current ones proves an 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗧.𝗘. would be 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚! In fact, it would be in a class of its own!
Works ok. Minor annoyance is that "Save" always throws a Bad File Descriptor error, but "Save-As" works. I'll use this until I find a better text editor.
Really simple and i like the clean design but for some reason i can't save/write on my external SD card it would be great if this can be fixed. (Using Android one 8.1.0)
There is a major bug with the shift key that makes capitalisation a nightmare. Other than that it's a pretty decent text editor.
Although I am able to open text files from the app, it is not being recognised as a text editor on my phone i.e. when I open a text file from file manager, this app doesn't show up.
it automatically escapes double-quote characters on save of a text/script . this is a ruin. other than that, this would be a great app. example: printf "save meh correctly puhlease!\n" would get saved as: printf \"save meh correctly puhlease!\n\"
Hello i like the app but when an html file is open the colors of tags and attribute are not preloaded but they load when user scroll down or looking at that part of code or page... It should be preloaded when a page opens... With a hope of fix and reply.........
This was the best text editor...until my phone updated to Android Q. Now it won't even open. Will change to 5 stars if an update comes. In the meantime, I must search for something comparable.
I'm sure this works fine for many people, but for what I was using it for the drawbacks outweighed any benefits. The drawbacks were the impossibility of typing fast as I constantly had to check keys had registered, capital letters had been entered as such, and not as lower case. These kind of errors were too frustrating and prevented any flow in my typing. A big plus was saving everything to a text file immediately, that is an advantage over many other text editors.
