Tutor on WyzAnt

I'm unsure if it's the app, the concept, the company, my personal experience and knowledge, or a little of each that has made this an unsuccessful venture. The app itself is sometimes slow to respond,and confusing when you're getting messages from your email and the app that turn out to be the same. I have only received offers for work from what were considered "illegitimate or suspicious sources".

It's a good communication medium between tutors and students. However, I wish I could search for new Tutoring jobs right in this App. That's the missing element for me...

Crazy slow! It is loading forever. I can not send or receive messages at real time. Most of time, I have to use the web version on my mobile phone.

This is an excellent website for tutors that like to share their knowledge with others for the purpose of them learning on particular subject. This app is easy to use with excellent platforms and it's easy to share the information.

Very glitchy! Notifications of new messages are not working. (And if you don't respond to a message for 24 hours, they make your account invisible, even though this app never told you that you had a message in the first place.) And clicking "Send" on a message sometimes results in nothing, so you think you replied to a message, but the student got no response.

Okay. Sometimes the app gets stuck and you have to close out and reopen to access messages or to create a lesson. It would also be nice if more details were included on the calendar event created via this app, the calendar event created when you do it through the website has more details. They should at least be consistent.

Highly recommended! Wyzant is a genuine platform with highly qualified teachers who are considerate and experienced.

This app is very useful but I find it quite unstable. Many times I go to perform a task and find I have only partial or no functionality. It is very sporadic. I have had potential students ask me if we can NOT use Wyzant because it is so unstable- and they've had such a negative experience on it.

There are many functions that don't appear on the app like auto-fill when applying for available tutoring jobs, and it would be ESPECIALLY nice to not have to retype everything when on my phone as opposed to sitting at the computer. The app itself is clunky- some things are accessible, some are not, so I usually just end up going to the desktop to do anything. The time converter is also way out of whack, depending on what time zones the student and you are in, when you go to schedule lessons.

Wyzant is a great place to find work as an online tutor, but the app still needs a little work. The messages tab only loads about half the time, and never loads when I click the link in the texts I recieve that alert me to a message. I usually have to log on to the website on a browser to check my messages, but that works fine. In response to wyzant's message, I updated the app and have seen no change in the problems I listed.

In general I have had a good experience in spite of the little problems overall in online classes. Most of the times I have problems. However. I am totally disappointed with the new WyzAnt's policy about the tutors charge (25% flat rate) for both classes in person and online. I think it is unjust for a tutor like me that have been tutoring for so many years with lots of tutoring hours.

I want to like this app. It is great for notifications and quick responses to students/student requests. I like that I always have everything quickly in the palm of my hand. But, when my response time is messed up because the app has logged me out (without my knowledge) and then will not allow me to log back into the app even after changing my password 2x (which works perfectly on the website), it becomes extremely frustrating. Plus, the fact that this happens every few months.

It's been lagging and now other platforms are so much easier for every one to use. The touch capabilities of wyzant do not work well for me or any student that attempts it, especially if they only have a mouse. Particularly, I do not like it for chemistry or math. I can't see my students working out the problems nor are they watching me work out the problems.

I like tutoring on Wyzant, but this app has turned into a nightmare. If I get more than one lesson request, I can't respond to the second one without restarting the phone. I have tried uninstalling, restarting, and reinstalling the app: the same thing occurs. I use a Galaxy S21, so I know it isn't the device. I have hangups with updating schedules sometimes, too, where scheduled lessons won't appear for hours at a time. Ugh.

Frustrating. I had to uninstall and reinstall to get popup notifications again. But for years I've had issues with messages not wanting to load. I'd have to reopen the app a dozen times to be able to read the messages. I understand android being harder to code for since there are hundreds of androids on the market, but I'm using a galaxy phone which are some of the most common upper end android. I shouldn't have these issues for more than a few months. It's been years. You can do this.

Good as a gig job, but the app needs so much work. Chat function, especially its relationship to email notifications is infuriating. Notifications from students (current or potential) can be missed because app has major delays; the other end is getting tons of notifications for conversations that happened hours ago. It would be ok if the desktop website worked well, but it needs a lot of attention too.

The app has gone somewhat ok to really terrible in recent times. I can't see any of my new student requests, so when I'm on the travel I ended up delaying to reply to request until I get chance to log into the site through my computer. This ends up losing students over time. This app has been here for a long time, and I haven't seen any significant improvements in past few years. If anything, the performance of the app detoriated significantly. I'm very disappointed with this.

The app logs you out without warning after unspecified amounts of time. Wyzant says it's every two weeks, but that has not been my experience; it ranges anywhere from two weeks to two months. The last time I messaged them, they said this was for "security", despite my having a lock screen on my phone. This has hurt my rankings twice. The app should AT LEAST notify you when it's going to log you out, and offer you a way to extend your login time.

Wyzant itself is a great service, but the app for android could use some work. Things like messages are often slow to load (if they load at all), and some features are not available. Oddly, there are some features (such as accepting a students requested time) are only accessable on the phone app. The phone app lets you see upcoming, unsubmitted, and submitted lessons in a very clear and informative section. Good work on that one!

I love how the app tailors to our needs as tutors. Applying to jobs is fun on the app. I love being able to teach multiple subjects, but I mostly focus on English and piano studies students. It's always sad when a student or parent decides to stop doing lessons. There are always various reasons, such as academic concerns, a left pinkie getting broken, etc.

This app has somehow gotten even worse since my last review. I'm getting message notifications hours after they were actually sent by students. The messages take also ages to load. I just use the browser as that is much more usable than this. If I could give it negative stars, I would. It is at the point where I'm losing out on jobs and paydays. Wyzant! Wake up and fix this mess.

Very limited options on changing your public information students. You have a browse for Job button in the middle of the app, then, n the botto of the app are tabs. Besides your home button and a chat button, all the other tabs (3 I think), do the same thing. Send you to the job search feature. I realize you want to browse for jobs, but having 4 ways from your home screen seems over the top, and I'm guessing could do other things.

I just downloaded an update, and I can no longer access requests in my text inbox. Meanwhile, the jobs listing under the "Jobs" heading has not been updated for 3 weeks. Lessons are being shown at incorrect times. A pretty well-functioning app has been turned into a major headache.

I have several technical complaints about this app. For instance, you can't submit a completed session from the app itself. Likewise you can't create a new response template from the app. Next there are no filters for you to focus only on jobs that are offering a fair price or jobs with no applicants. You can't temporarily disable subjects from within the app either. Messages do not synchronize uniformly across the platform so you waste precious time loading an email in the web browser.

Doesn't excellent job of connecting students with the expert tutors for the subjects they are studying.

This outstanding app.is worthy of this premier tutoring company. Wyzant is simply the best!
