I was very excited to try this app out, but unfortunately I can't do much. The lagging, freezing, and long load times are constant even after restart or cleaning my data. It also gets my phone really hot, so I'm worried the app isn't optimized well.
Upgraded to 4 stars.the keyboard issues in the app can be resolved by disabling the phone's secure keyboard. There are, however, still a few problems with the crossword exercises that seem to pop up at will.
Just started using this as I am getting to the higher levels on Duolingo and it seems to be great for listening and comprehension. More difficult than Duo, but more realistic. I like it!
Not sure if it's a bug in my phone(Pixel 4A) or something with the app, but the app simply does not show up in my phone screen. I have to come to Google Play Store every time and open the app from there! It just doesn't show up in the list of apps on my phone. This is very strange.
Brilliant app that teaches French in real life setting. The only thing I truly miss (that was in '7jours sur la planet app') is the idiomatic expressions. Even with alot of vocabulary knowledge, the expressions always throw me off. Please consider including a section on the app with a list of expressions.
Great bite-sized lessons for learning French in a more natural way. The lessons themselves are very interesting and based on historical events and scientific topics- exposing some unique vocabulary. Really recommend it to any intermediate French learner!
Its really good for listening and practicing french accent , highly recommended if you are willing to improve your vocabulary for french.
This is a useful app for learning vocabulary and grammar in context. The exercises are diverse and fun. It has transcripts for the videos which I find incredibly useful. The clips are short, but the exercises maximize them for learning. I definitely recommend to anyone learning French, especially if you're studying your own.
Great application. Real world media. There are issues with app such as rendering of some exercices sometimes gets messed up. Another issue is that there is no dictionary access embedded in the app and if one swaps to another app (eg dictionary) during an exercise, the app looses where you are in the exercise. If these issues were fixed the app would be 5*. But I still continue to use the app even with these quirks.
The topics are interesting and at my level. There is a lot of content, and a wide variety of topics. Some functions do not work, like double clicking for definitions (this is a minor annoyance, mostly when the text isn't highlightable) and filling out the +/- opinion boxes (this has prevented me from being able to complete some videos. Though it doesn't impact my ability to learn, it is still annoying.)
Absolutely amazing. Interactive, fun, lots of culture, real speed in conversation, all aspects of the language covered. Listening, reading, writing (selecting from a menu) and culture. I wish I had started to use it earlier. Highly recommended. Great practice at your finger tips. One can use it on the bus, after dinner, while waiting etc. A+. I really like one can select what language to pair with the French for the instructions. I chose Spanish since is my first language and closer to French.
Absolutely awesome app, and truly free. The UI could use improvements like dark mode and better layouts. The instructions for each lesson could also be improved, and there should be a "report a problem" feature on each so they can be fixed. In the crossword exercises, for example, the audio doesn't work when you tap on the play audio button.
Great app, much better than Duolingo. You can learn actual french, not just memorize weirdly phrased translated sentences. The only thing missing is some way to measure progress, as to make tha app more engaging and keep the user coming back. Also, the "classes" are a little unorganized, which makes it difficult to know what to do when you enter the app.
Fantastic app, it's got loads of amazing listening exercises taken from real French news. The exercises vary so it's never boring and the level of language is just right (as an advanced learner, a lot of language learning apps have 'advanced' levels that are far too easy). Exactly what I need for my listening practice, and it's completely free! Will definitely be recommending this to people.
This is perfect for people who are more advanced than a beginner level who want to improve their French by listening to actual French people speaking. The exercises are the perfect blend of listening and writing with verb, grammar and spelling exercises all set amongst interesting subject matters. It's the best app I've found for my level of French!
My Favourite App for French Listening exercises! It's worth every penny, you don't have to pay.. :D I use it for quite a while now and every new upload seems to be well-made. They take their real content and build exercises around it. Only thing annoying me: I can't search for exercises with a specific grammar skill tested, or at least labels(phrase structure, tenses, pronouns,..). That would be amazing. Thank u so much!
I quit learning French about a year ago, but I had tried to start again several times using this app but I quit over and over because it's interface wasn't fine-tuned to be on par with the website experience. However, this late update has given the option to log into my account and save my progress and the interface is way more intuitive so I believe I will continue using.
I love it, however, I don't think A1 is really A1. The dialogs are more like B1 although the quizes are much simpler
Engaging & challenging. I was getting bored with duolingo and anki and this app is great. They assess your skill level at the start so you are going to be challenged enough that you learn without being frustrated. Lessons are available for A1 through B2. And the videos cover a very wide selection of subject matter, so you stay engaged while learning vocabulary which is unique to your interests. And it's all ad free and contains a lot of Canadian content.
On android: the images dont show, so you can't read them, a little icon of a book appears for reading exercises and when you click it it is just a marginally bigger icon of a book, so the reading exercises are impossible to do. I want to use this app, I think it would be preferable to other language learning apps, and the website is good, but it basically doesn't function!
Very helpful with French listening practice. You watch and/or read about a video and then answer several questions. There are different levels (A1-B2) to choose from and you can switch your level at any time. I havent tried this yet but it is an option. BONNE CHANCE!
Fantastic app. Got excited about it at first when I saw: "Download, use offline". But a pity that this is not true for the "Home videos". Every time I watch a video, it downloads that whole video. Even when I press the 15 second go-back click, re-downloading takes place hideously and one does not notice it. This is a horrible thing and an expensive burden on my mobile net. Please why can't this horrible video player be replaced or be fixed?
It's a very helpful app. You can easily understand and learn French
Amazing! I love it! It's the best free app to learn French! It has several types of exercises to work with. I'd only like for there to be a short explanation of why my answer is wrong, so that I understood better, and/or a little explanation about the topic or grammar BEFORE I do the exercises.
I was looking forward to using this app, but the first reading exercice I tried was unusable. The clip to read was so small it was illegible with no option to zoom the screen. There's a "full screen" button but it displays the text image at exactly the same size, and still illegible. Maybe it's better on a phone, I'm using a tablet.
