There are two problems with the game. First, cards animations are too slow, even the fast setting makes no difference. Second, the buttons on the upper corners will get cut off on samsung galaxy 21u screen, which makes them hard to press. The upper left one can be adjusted using the phone's own setting, but the upper right corner cannot be adjusted. The game needs to be able to adjust the screen size within the game itself, or having bigger buttons.
Game doesn't work whatsoever. Crashes on logo every single time. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra on latest OS. Not a bad game judging based on what I've played on Steam, so it's still worth a try. If it doesn't work, refund. EDIT: Rebought the game to try again. Still didn't work initially. My phone happened to die later and once restarted the game actually started working. So if you're having problems try restarting your phone cause that somehow made all the difference. Now it works like 80% of the time
Good app of a GREAT game. Online is good but the AI has some flaws: 1. It will sometimes "choose" Defcon 1, which means they lose the game. This makes no sense and results in a really disappointing ending to a game. 2. If you're fairly experienced, you will beat the AI >90% of the time. You will only lose if you aren't paying attention or if you're really unlucky. It's basically a "training mode". The difficulty should be adjustable to offer an offline challenge for better players.
Excellent mobile version of the board game. It may just be confirmation bias but the dice rolls don't seem completely random. Far more sixes and ones than there should be. My opponent had a game where he rolled all sixes. Not impossible but incredibly unlikely. Doesn't spoil the enjoyment of an otherwise excellent board game app. Much quicker and easier to play than the actual board game. Suggestion for a new feature: ability to replay entire games to see where it all went wrong!
Literally an exact port of the version you can find on Steam, which is fantastic. Several annoying issues that make this inferior to the desktop version, however. The "on the board" special condition tiles (e.g. NATO, Flower Power, etc.) are not really viewable, as you can't hover a cursor over them like on a computer. Additionally, the game won't let you purchase the additional content, and despite repeated inquiries to the developers I have gotten no response on how to remedy this.
It's easy to forget this was originally a board game! Switching between desktop and mobile works without a hitch. I like getting notifications for my turns and having the option to do it in the moment or to know I have a turn waiting for me later. The game itself: Excellent work done to make it an immersion into history and the game mechanics are interesting and have a lot of replay value. Having this game computerized makes 2hr matches possible. Before you had to quit your job to play!
The game itself is solid, but that's just because it's the same as the board game. The AI is not very good. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's been any updates in a year, so I'm guessing this won't change. The UI is okay. After playing Android board game adaptations like Through the Ages though, it's difficult to find much it does well. I've played 3 games and the app has crashed 3 times. It's not particularly stable. The animations are cool. That's about all I've got that's positive
Very enjoyable game, well adapted from the board game version! The only feature that is missing and would seriously improve my experience is not auto-winning when the time is up but rather be able to flag for win when you want to at any later point in time but also continue playing if that's what you prefer. That's the way it's usually done in games like chess and allows continuing interesting games.
Twilight Struggle is one of favourites and this app version is fantastic, especially ehen playing with new people to teach them the rules or to refresh after not playing for a while. However the Android 10 update on the Pixel 2XL at least has broken the game and it no longer loads. I have emailed the support team and hope to hear back from them to see if they can fix it, it would be a real shame if it stays in this state. Will mark back up to 5 starts when fixed.
Great digital implementation of a great board game. However, it does have a few glitches, the most significant I've hit was my inability to restore the expansion content when I changes devices. Cue to the WORST possible support experience: ive tried contacting support on 3 occasions, all attempts end up with a request for more information, you reply to it, following which you are promptly ignored and receive no further communication. Very unprofessional: (Edit: 10 times now:(((, no response)
Pretty accurate version of the original board game. Few crashes here and there (nothing game breaking) and it is almost impossible to check cards currently in play (lost a star just for this, it's really bad - the icons are the size of a match-head!) But it does the job and is a lot faster then cracking out the actual tabletop version.
Great, with some bugs. I play it on my Acer R11 Chromebook (which allows for use of Android apps). This is helpful because the world map is so vast and detailed a bigger screen is helpful. Generally, it plays great. However, when the USSR AI stuck me with the Quagmire card, I was unable to do as requested: drag the card into the "field" so I could roll to undo Quagmire. The only option was to skip. I couldn't even play my score cards. Worse: it was Turn 10, and I was finally beating the game!
Bugs fixed. Great game. An issue playing online: some ppl will let the timer run all the way to 0 once they're convinced they lost, hoping that the winning player forfeits first in order to save the time. There should be some mechanism to let others flag ppl that do this as a warning to other prospective opponents in the future
This is an amazing digital adaptation of one of the greatest two player board games ever. My only minor gripes are that the computer opponent could be a little bit faster, and a little more varied in its actions.
One of the best board games ever made. This app has given me hours of fun. Only downside is the AI is very weak and you will need to play online for a real challenge. The AI is useful for learning how to play such a complex game nonetheless.
Wonderful game, one of the best and a lot of fun playing online with others. If you get really into it, join a league and compete! But the recent update is terrible. Card names messed up (Trumane doctrine for one) and map can't pan anymore. No useful features added (60 min games). If not for that this would be a solid 4
Very good adaptation of the boardgame. There are only two things stopping me from giving it 5 stars: 1) At least 2 cards that are in the boardgame are missing - NORAD and Special Relationship. This makes the game even more balanced in favour of the USSR than the boardgame. There may be others missing but these are the only two I have noticed so far. 2) The game crashes sometimes
Great implementation of the physical game. AI seems like a good opponent to me and it can always get tougher by taking an influence handicap. Online play has been smooth too. I am so impressed that it can play cross platform. (i.e. my Android can play with a Steam user or iphone user) I'm just waiting for Playdek to release Labyrinth: War on Terror. Great job guys! Thank you!
I like the game, but the reason I bought it is to play with friends. I've been unable to create an account for almost a week. Sent two emails that auto-generated tickets. No one from the twilight struggle team has contacted me to even say it's been looked at. Profoundly disappointing.
Great board game... And this is a great app implementation of it. Couldn't ask for more. It's unfortunate that you have to buy a different version to play on PC (learned the hard way), but... If you're wondering if this game is any good, it was once rated #1 on BGG for quite some time and it's still one of my all time favorite strategy games. Great way to get introduced if you're new to the game!
Really great game but some of the cards don't work properly. I played a card that should have prevented me from losing the game from defcom and had all UI suggest that to be true, then still lost. Wasted like 90 minutes.
I love this game, but after updating to Android 10 it does not work. I have tried reinstalling, but get an error message. The game still installs, but halts at a white screen with another, nearly unreadable, error message.
Twilight Struggle is a masterpiece of a game, and this app really does it justice. UI is simple, graphics and music are great. The tutorial really teaches the game well, so much that I recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn the tabletop version. Highly recommended.
Editing to 5 stars as it has started working on android 10 and oneplus 7t. The game was always phenomenal. ------------------ Game and app were great until changing from 3t to 7t and the new Android. Unable to install the game on the new phone, says installation failed, and the game does not start.
have loved this game since the boardgame was first introduced. Like the app a lot, too. The music and sound effects really add to the atmosphere. Quibble: For some reason I can't purchase Turn Zero and Asmodee won't get back to me.
Aside from being an obvious port with major problems on mobile, there are also other issues with the game itself. For one thing, it is painfully slow, the computer player should not take longer than the human player, full stop. Also the AI just wins ties I guess, I had a tie in 1991 and it just said the Computer player won the game with no reason given.
