Update: Now it won't open at all. The only good things are the ability to download episodes and audio playing while app is closed. No: currently playing, history, picture in picture in or out of app, or SD card storage. If I lock my phone it keeps playing but stop after a few minutes. The only way to download an episode is to have it playing. If I am playing an episode on the main page, then download it and resume it from the download page, it starts from the beginning, not where I was.

Yesterday the App started crashing as soon as I would open it. I've uninstalled and reinstall. Upon reinstall I can see the welcome video. But once past that it crashes. It worked amazing and was what I listened to every night after work the last couple of years. Please fix.

It looks good, content is good. This review is about the functionality of the app itself. When steaming the podcasts and videos, they will only play for 5 min and then stop and then when you have to restart it, it goes back to the beginning so make sure you remember where it stopped. Also, your finger will always accidentally hit the download button and once it starts you can't stop it and you'll have things downloading for an hour and then you can't even find the file to delete it. So, this app can annihilate your memory if you're not careful and irritate the hell out of you because you're constantly having to restart content and search for the spot where it cut off.

The content is top notch, so I highly recommend TYT on the web and other media, such as Pluto. However, the app itself is not well conceived. It forces the device into portrait mode, and video is landscape, so be ready to switch around a lot. Also, you can't cast archive video to roku or smart TV, so you're stuck watching that on the small screen. Also, video playback features are primitive compared to polished apps like youtube. Also, you can't comment from within the app even as a member.

love the content when it plays. I have not been able to listen to an entire podcast without it stopping. Then I have to restart from the beginning because it doesnt resume where I left off, and fast forward guessing where I was. I hoped to use the app to listen while driving but it's frustrating. I hope this gets fixed and membership would be worth it.

I love the content but I hate the app. Any time I try to listen to a podcast it crashes. This happens at least 3 times per podcast. I have to restart the app multiple times and try to figure out where I left off because the app doesn't remember how far you were in the show. I also don't like that the icon gets stuck in my notification bar. If I pause a podcast I should be able to swipe the app closed through my notification bar but it doesn't let me. Instead I have to clear the app and it still gets stuck sometimes even when I clear the app. When that happens I have to restart the app and then clear it again. Very annoying, please fix the bugs!

In terms of value, this app is incredible. Incredible amounts of content for members and non-members alike. My problem lies in functionality. The app frequently pauses to buffer, even when you're just using the audio-only podcast feature. If you pause, exit the app, then return to the app, it does not save the place of where you were previously listening, even if you don't leave the page. In fact the app often reboots once you return.

The app is not coded for Android TV even though its best viewed on a big screen. I like TYT and am a member but watching on a phone/tablet is not the best experience. Casting to the TV is an option but a native Android TV app should have been implemented first. Also, it does not remember where you were in playback, so if you have to minimize the app to do something else (e.g. check email or take a call), it takes you all the way back to the beginning. Finally, the app still sends notifications even well all notifications have been turned off.

I'm very excited to use my membership but right now there are a few big niggles that make using the app a chore. Videos don't ever seem to save my position which is frustrating when I can rarely watch a 20+ minute video in one sitting. Also, there should be an option to "force" full screen when auto-rotate is off, like YouTube. Right now full screen remains in portrait with giant black bars above and below. Finally, videos will often skip forward a few seconds during the first minute of watching. That's all I got, thanks!

Love the service, the app is terrible. TYT is my go to news source, but the app is atrocious. I have issues with force closing, unstable playback, and when I pause it, or when a notification comes in the playback stops, the app logs out then promptly crashes. I have a good phone, and I don't have any malware. If you like the service, just go to the website. That works great. Come on guys, get your act together Note that I will update my review when these issues are resolved.

Love TYT and finally became a member, so I download the app, and it looks great. That's where it ends though. It has a number of issues, most of which are outlined by other reviews here. Including interrupted video, no audio, problems while listening with screen off, app not closing when I exit, needing to be force closed, other times closing on it's own, among other issues. I'm using a Note 9.

The app doesn't have one of the main features which has been advertised on all the commercials, a show called TYT Classics. There's no listing for it under the shows, and I can't find it anywhere after searching through the feed for a really long time. Every single show, they keep touting it, and it's the primary reason I signed up for a membership. Also the video quality is crappy when casting to a TV. Looks like standard definition or lower. I also really wanted to watch the Beto debate last night since I live in Texas but that never worked.

I immensely enjoy listening to the young turks and I love they that have an app that shows their content but there are a couple of bugs that make the app hard to use. When listening to long podcasts, they tend to stop on their own and sometimes the app will log you out. Secondly, if you have head phones the pause and play function doesn't work completely. lastly sometimes the app crashes and gets stuck in your notification bar. otherwise good app.

I love TYT and have been a member for several years. Imagine how excited I was to learn of the app so I can listen on demand and on the go. Except that's not what happens. Instead, the app CONSTANTLY logs me out mid-video. So I am re-logging in and having to navigate to the video I was just watching/listening to. Kinda inconvenient (impossible) while you're driving. Honestly, I'm going to delete the app and seriously consider if I want to continue paying for an inconvenient subscription service

Love TYT, like the new features and good look of the app. Buuut, it has a fudamental flaw for me since it came out. It constantly pauses. Constantly. ~ Every 5 minutes. And then to resume it, you must grab your phone click pause and then click play. It makes it almost unusable. The ability to listen to video or audio is the core feature of the app and it barely works, so it has to be 1 star. Fix it.

It's great that the app now keeps track of position in played shows. Thanks. Playback is affected by the app asking you to log in way too often, sometimes in the middle of an episode. This is especially a problem when there is no network connection and the app beomes useless. Even downloaded episodes stop when network connection gets disrupted. What's is the point of downloading then?!?

I can give a lot of complaints about the UI and stuff but it's not super terrible, it's as bad as the websites, which is more annoying that bad. but today, trying to listen to just one episode while I walk to work I have been signed out 10 times, essentially if I want to muse my phone for anything else, other that just the home screen or a basic text, I get signed out instantly, while listening/watching. not just paused or stopped, signed out, same on the Google TV version

i love tyt, and I'm a paid member, but i can't continue unless this app is fixed. the playback is so flawed. about 50 percent of the times i pause playback of a podcast, i can not start where i left off when i return. this happens even if i don't close the app. if your trying to use the buttons on a Bluetooth headset, it's even worse. having to wait for the app to open while the little box scrolling through all the shows is scrolling is badenough, but not saving my place is a deal breaker

As a member I hoped to find an easy way to listen to the show. If I pause it for a moment 45 minutes in I can't unpause, both from streaming and downloaded content. The only solution seems to be to restart the show and skip ahead using +15 second button. My alternative solution is to let the app download the latest shows that I want and choose how many to keep, and then give access to other apps such as Google Play, so that I can enjoy the content without getting frustrated and not disappointed

I have this app on the phone. I primarly followed TYT from youtube, but I am turning away from youtube a bit. I have this app on my phone and chromebook. TYT the show is great, the App, for members especially, is a good way to watch tyt. Cons: while watching the app, if I get a text message or a call, or if I wanted it to play on the side on my chrome book the app does not play, and you can't once you return to the app just unpause it. you have to go out of the video and come back then adjust back close to where I stopped watching. I like TYT, the show is great, and so much content but I can't just sit down to watch, sometimes I have to listen while I am walking, or cooking etc. Also true of the website and the App. watching special coverage is sometimes hard to find. Where was the host mates special. it wasn't immediately obvious, I spent a bit of time looking before i found it.

The app needs to be optimised. If playback is paused you will very rarely be able to continue it. If the app is not on your screen (at least on my phone) the app will likely shut down. forceing you to go through the long intro animation. Then some times if your on the app for a long time and it doesn't shut diwn it will sign you out of your account.

Great content, fair app. Using a Samsung S8. You should not have to start listening to a podcast/video just to download it. Should be able to pause and maintain place when app is restarted which it does not do. Connectivity to bluetooth car system via Android Auto does not broadcast podcast info to display. Should be able to stop a download but cannot. Fix these things and the app will give a much better user experience.

The app closes whenever you navigate away from it. It deosnt remember where you were in a segment so it's frustrating to have to find your spot again if god forbid you had to use another app. Makes it very difficult, for example, to use a GPS and listen to the show in my car. I will update this when that problem is fixed.

Love TYT. This app is driving me insane. Downloads don't play half the time. They say "downloaded" but show 0 minutes out of 0 minutes of podcast on the player. As a person with a long motorcycle commute, this is infuriating. The shows only play for a few minutes when streaming before cutting out and never recovering. This is not a signal problem. As a member, it's really frustrating.

Content is great...but it is so frustrating having to keep finding your place in the video if you get a call or alert as the video restarts itself. Also, you can't use it in split screen. The audio doesn't continue if you go to the home screen. It would be great if it was similar to YouTube in the the small screen would remain on top of what you were doing and continue to play. Or at least save my place in the video after I get a call.

I really like the app but there's some issues with it currently; If you go to a show first and go to podcast, it won't let you scroll down to all previous dates (It will only go back like a few weeks..) and also there should definitely be a chromecast option to cast this to your television if you're watching live (and/or the ability to listen to just audio live, like podcasts.). Hope the team fixes/implements these things eventually but until then the app is pretty good.

the playback is very bad. videos wont continue to play in the background and audio plays in the background but the app frequently reloads when i switch back to it and closes the podcast. downloads dont actually download it to my device so it doesnt get around any of these issues. i am a member and i still end up watching most of my tyt content on youtube because it works so much better.

I was happy that TYT came up with an app. After using it for a while, I gave it a 2 star rating, because the app was terrible. kept crashing, logging out, going to sleep... All in all - making following the shows a miserable experience. I figured those were the usual bugs at the start of the process and would be fixed. Had to lower that to 1 star, because nothing has been fixed, things have actually gotten worse. And the support guys aren't too helpful either. Still hoping. Cmon TYT. Be better!

While I am a supporter, this app is frustrating and a joke. I can't go out of the back and back into it without it crashing. Also the app regardless of whether I download an episode or not DOES NOT REMEMBER WHERE I LEFT OFF. This can't be hard to figure out. Also it suffers from crashing mid episode. It would be way easier to just download from YouTube if you have yt red as a service but the tyt channel doesn't even organize their shows by date and hour anymore so either way you miss content on all fronts. Come on tyt get it together.

Disappointing.. The app constantly crashes. If i need to pause the show, when i come back later ready to listen again, it did not hold my place in the podcast. This happens even if i download it (actually especially so). I'm probably going to go back to my regular podcast app, therefore, cancelling the membership, bc i don't get the extra episodes on there, which is why i downloaded it in the first place.
