After you hear a cadence played in the key of C major, you will hear one or more notes. Try to identify the note played. If you identify the correct note, a green circle will appear, and if the note is incorrect, a red circle will appear.
Likewise with Chords – after hearing a cadence in C major, you will hear either a triad or seventh chord. Try to identify the root and quality of the chord. . If you identify the correct notes, a green circle will appear, and if the note is incorrect, a red circle will appear.

This app is like the Functional Ear Trainer (which is also available for Android): it plays I IV V I cadence and then plays a note (either from the major scale or the chromatic scale) and asks you to identify the note. Unlike the FET, it also allows you to play multiple notes harmonically after the cadence, so you can play up to 8 (!) notes simultaneously after the cadence, which is very challenging. It requires that you answer using a piano keyboard (instead of using scale degrees like the FET). There's not much by way of instruction in the app, so it might be hard for beginners to use. By default it starts out with 'Full Extension' and 'Chromatic' options enabled, which means that you have to identify a note from the piano keyboard from three octaves, which is pretty challenging. If you disable it, then you're back to a single octave which is easier. The piano sounds are nice as well, and the app visually looks good. But I would recommend trying the Functional Ear Trainer over this app if you're looking to get started.
great app! what's great about this app in contrast with the Functional Ear Trainer is that this one allows you to guess multiple simultaneous tones.. 3 simultaneous random tones is already challenging.. it allows up to 8. Using both apps together is best

By far the most practical app of this type.
All switches (options) are on the same screen - so, simple to use. Has a good quality instrument sound (piano). Only trains in C major - which is all that is needed (for major keys) when using a functional (contextual) ear trainer, i.e. the relationships between scale degrees in major keys remain the same, though of course the pitches differ. One problem I experienced, is that if you turn CHORDS on and later turn it off, you can't return to 1 "test" note in the NOTE GROUP. (This shows the number of notes heard in a "test".) The only way I can get around this is to uninstall the app and reinstall it - then refrain from turning CHORDS on again. There seems to be is a slider with "NOTE GROUP" but it didn't move, i.e. didn't alter the number of notes in the NOTE GROUP. Finally, the font size used in the app for HELP and for the switches is very tiny. I had to use a magnifying glass, though I soon remembered what each switch did. Anyway, you are unlikely to need to use the switches frequently. You are likely to start with only PLAY CADENCE switched on - and you are likely to be in that mode for a long time.
