The app constantly crashes and will disconnect from my cameras while I'm watching. Scrolling through the day crashes the app too. Sure it's better than other apps within the same category but I just want to be able to view my cameras and at this point, after reinstalling an app in 2022 and still not being able to use it, I'm kinda irate..
Works well, but REALLY needs some kind of 'Alert Aggregation' whereby multiple alerts that occur within a minute (or a defined time,) only trigger the FIRST alert. IE: Someone exits a door, camera triggers. In 15 seconds they return, grab something, exit again, and maybe one more trip back in. Four alerts in less than a minute. Really, only the first alert should be enough, as looking at that one will reveal the the other recorded entries and exits. Also freezes on launch fairly regularly..
This app is great, finally dark theme so my eyes aren't destroyed looking at footage in bed!!! App's look is great but wish a function like the notification preview like I had with Nest cams. Tiny animated clip, or even a still pic like the one from the cam preview, of what motion cam picked up as a notification so I can quickly disregard or see if I need to check the footage.. If Nest can do it so can Ubiquiti. And most important, desperately needs casting feature so I can cast my cam group view or individual cams to my Chromecast (and other stream devices) and allow it to run as long as I like.
Here is my experience: If you fail to adopt a device on the first try the app will not detect the same device again until you uninstall and reinstall the app on Android (Ipad app works fine) which makes troubleshooting a pain. Finally after switching to ipad I was able to identify the problem. My unifi network had recently updated and changed my wifi from wpa2/wpa3 to wpa3 only. Of course my device is wpa2. So im unhappy with the android app and with unifi network for changing my wifi settings.
Fairly good in general. Notifications pretty good although occasionally delayed. There is a bug where sometimes in live view you only get a still image with the 3 activity dots, although you do get sound. Once this happens it keeps doing it. It can be very hard to scroll to an exact time, so a more precise positioning method (as an alternative) would be very helpful.
Terrible experience in Chromecast with Google TV. There is no All camera view in start. Lands in a specific camera and you have to scroll through each and every camera but the problem is it skios camera upon scrolling through camera. Works well in Apple TV and Shield TV. Also Live view freezes often in multi camera view mode.
Feature requests: 1) I really, really wish I could reduce frequency of notifications. My G4 Doorbell notifications go nuts when working in the front yard; the notifications quickly become annoying and not useful (because they then just get ignored). 2) It'd be really fun to be able to change G4 Doorbell ringtones from the app.
Amazing when it works. Wish one could set a delay between first alert and consecutive ones to reduce repeating alerts on for example bringing groceries home. I turn off alerts because of this and then forget to turn them on sometime. Love the interface, hate the way these (yes unifi) corporate tech junkies ignore issues. I have stock and frankly sell alternate products because I can't afford a truck roll on every update to add bells a whistles. It seems like they don't care!!
Every revision in the last 6 months seems to make it worse. 1.) Why is the speaker on now whenever I go to a camera? It use to be muted by default and now it keeps turning on whenever I open the app. At least give the option in preferences. 2.) Double-tapping the camera needs to go back to full screen again. Double-tap to zoom makes no sense when we can pinch zoom. 3.) We really need the ability to direct connect on our own so we can use secure VPN connections. This is a necessity!
Local logins now work, hooray! (About time, there really is no need and should be no requirement to have to go via the cloud service for something which records from local cameras to local disk! I can always VPN or port forward in when remote access is required, but under my own control) Edit: Was broken again for a few days since a Protect server-side update, but now working again with app v1.6.0. Please could server updates be made available only *after* the compatible client is available?
Great app. Shows me all my cameras. Con: If I'm looking at a past event, if I rotate my phone, it switches to live. Then I have to find the event again to watch in full screen.
Easy to use. Does what I need it too. Save clips and zoom live? Hell right, love this system. For the money, you get what you pay for. These cameras are no joke. Easy to install and easy to use. Have saved a few problems due to these things.
Love the recent updates to the app. I use it both on my home and business. Simple to use and just works. One suggestion, have the video camera show up in alphabetical order, or somehow allow grouping? Such as Indoor, outdoor, bar area, kitchen area, parking lots, etc etc.
The unifi video app had more features, I am missing functions with my cameras that I had in the previous flavor from unifi. Wish I would have gone with another platform.
Generally very good, I have a dome camera which I can only see in fisheye mode. I would like to be able to see it in a de-warped mode on my android phone. Also I get movement notifications well after they've happened, sometimes 30 mins after! And the notifications aren't always in the right order.. Sort these out and then this would be 5 stars. Thanks
App takes forever to remotely access the cameras when off-site using cellular, but connects fast when connected local lan via WiFi. Longer authentication time is very frustrating, almost takes 20sec sometimes and often needs restarting the app. I can assure you my mobile internet speeds are good, I have other iot devices in the network which takes less than 3 sec to remotely access. Otherwise app functionality is good but can be improved. Smart detections only show up 5/10 times at the top.
Worthless. Downloaded this so I can try to install the instant G3 camera to the GEN2 controller. Doesn't work. Just says adopting. No one online has been able to get this to work either. Only solution I found is to move away from unifi. I shouldn't have to pay for 4 hours of support to click a button to get the adoption to work.
So slow....when I launch the app it says "connection slow". I am on my wifi network with zero speed issues except for trying to launch the app. It just sits there "loading".
Used to be a huge unifi video fan and i actually really like the polish with protect and there app but because of there consent problems with our 13/17 NVRs and not allowing for backups or letting us install protect software on our on servers we are planning on dropping all our unifi protect deployments for our inhouse system and if they don't get there act together I'll be dropping there protect systems from our clients as well for our system as well.
Please fix the "Unable to connect to Unifi Dream Machine Pro (393216)" error. It's been weeks since I've been getting this error. Update 5/10/2022: App significantly better and works very quickly.
I hate Unifi Protect! Recently, the app stopped working for me via local connection, and I have no idea why. Probably having something to do with the stupid console discovery "feature". Why can't I just enter an IP address of the console manually? Unifi Protect was definitely my worst purchase in recent years. I'm so over Ubiquiti's cloud integration and telemetry BS, and I would suggest you stay away from any of their products but especially the Protect and Access line.
I haven't had any major issues with this app. I would like to see the option for a landscape multi camera viewing mode. Being able to see more than 1 1/2 cameras at a time is nice especially since I have over 8 cameras. Make it similar to the web ui. Used on Note 20 and now S22Ultra.
Can't find local console on flat network with no firewall dividing the two devices. Won't allow you to specify static ip of console, insists on using its own "detection" that does not work. Customer support refuses to even acknowledge the issue anytime someone brings it up. Avoid if possible.
double tapping on a camera live stream no longer launch it into full screen of that zoomed view That was a useful feature that doesn't appear now in the most recent android version. Should be stable and adding features rather than removing or changing them. Addition of dark mode was great. Now address above as a setting so it can be reverted back.
