United States Supreme Court cases

The free application "United States Supreme Court cases" is very friendly, it has a beautiful and simple interface. The best choice for a pocket dictionary that is always at hand. From which you can learn a lot of new and interesting things, for example, that:

Shaffer v. Heitner
Shaffer v. Heitner, 433 U.S. 186 (1977), is a United States corporate law case in which the Supreme Court of the United States established that a defendant's ownership of stock in a corporation incorporated within a state, without more, is insufficient to allow that state courts to exercise jurisdiction over the defendant. The case set forth a framework for evaluating when a defendant will be deemed to have minimum contacts with the forum state sufficient for the exercise of jurisdiction to be consistent with due process under the Fourteenth Amendment.

Bowen v. Georgetown University Hospital
Bowen v. Georgetown University Hospital, 488 U.S. 204 (1988), was a case in which the United States Supreme Court held that agencies should not be presumed to have the power to promulgate retroactive rules unless that power is expressly authorized by Congress. Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for a unanimous court that the Secretary of Health and Human Services had exceeded his rulemaking authority under the Medicare Act in promulgating a wage index rule in 1984 under which he would recoup Medicare reimbursements paid to hospitals, including Georgetown University Hospital, that had been disbursed since 1981 according to the pre-1984 rule. Justice Antonin Scalia concurred in the judgment, writing separately that, in addition to the particular language of the Medicare Act, the Administrative Procedure Act more broadly prohibits retroactive rulemaking because it defines rules as having exclusively future effect, as opposed to adjudicative orders.

Very convenient and great way to learn. My only complaint is and with every other app now ... you have purchase something or better quality of the app to be able to use all of the functions the app is downloaded for. You could have a great thing until we see, "To use this function, please purchase premium ", or some thing like that. That is an automatic uninstall anymore for me.

Pathetic. Just give us the option to pay for it and be done with it instead of constantly nagging us to upgrade. It's disingenuous because on the surface you're claiming the app is free but then it's a bait and switch because it really isn't free. And just because everybody else is doing it doesn't make it right. Please, give us the option for a full version so we can learn in peace. Thank you.

Just put it on my phone. Very nice. But it really needs to be sortable by end of case date, at least. Leaving out that pretty simply implemented feature almost cost you a star. Get to work.

Sometimes you have to look a bit harder, when you type what you're looking for it keys on certain words and brings up several topics. Just scroll through until you find the topic relevant to you.

Great app for someone wanting to familiarize themselves with Supreme Court cases. Would be nice if it had a sort function. Needs update including most recent cases and those currently before the court.

Total GARBAGE! Sick and tired of FRAUD apps! FREE means Free, any "required purchases" to "unlock" full functions equals LIES which is FRAUDULENT, how about you numb-nut morons learn to read your own cases to figure out Lawful, LEGAL terms!

Pretty good but fails to recite many major cases in its entirety, such as Chisholm v. Georgia and the opinions of justices.

Fantastic if you are interested. Not sure what a lawyer would think, but extremely educational. Reminds you that if you think the Supreme Court is the problem, you need to look at the horrible job legislatures do writing laws, or worst, realizing how they write them poorly on purpose so governments can trample our rights until someone has the guts and money to take it to the supreme Court.

Thorough....just wish i could group cases by amendment, year, etc..

As a legal novice, I'm not sure how much my opinion counts, but I'm able to find what I'm looking for and get the straight skinny on whatever I want to look up and get the first hand without getting someone else's second hand opinion. I find this site A REALLY VALUABLE RESOURCE. Thanks for providing it. Hopefully this will help safeguard our liberty and freedom. As the radicals like to say; "No Justice, No Peace."
