There's no reason for this app to exist. You're stealing the works of other people (including my works), which are already available for free, and monetizing them. Not to mention you're ripping off an entire organization and filling it with ads and just generally making a worse version that you have to pay for. Ao3 has an option to download fics and it works both on mobile and desktop.

It's not okay to profit off of this or other people's hard work. Fan fiction is fun because we can see our favorite characters in situations we create, without having to create another universe. But the second we start profiting off ideas that aren't entirely ours, we run the risk losing the ability to post this kind of art. While having an app for AO3 would be cool, don't ruin it for everyone else by trying to turn a profit through ads and subscriptions.

As a writer, I was kinda concerned to find an app making money off stories I put on the web for free. While I appreciate that this app doesn't do anything to directly monetize the stories themselves (instead you pay for a recommendation service), you're still shoving ads into a formerly ad-free experience, and thereby profiting off my work - which I find uncomfortable. For all you readers out there, just go to the actual AO3 site. It is completely free and has no ads.

I downloaded this app to check if any of my works were "archived" without my permission, lo and behold not just all of them are there but this app is also full of ads that annoyingly cover the interface at times. You're better off just using Chrome to access Ao3 as the actual website completely lacks ads.

In general, it's a good app. I've overall enjoyed my experience, but there are definitively some issues that's kept it from being any sort of favorite. Using it on it's own is, unfortunately, out of the question. I've always felt AO3 has a clunky filter as it is, but this app seems to have made it worse. I've never been able to get the premium or recommendations to work on my main phone, it crashes and have too many small, frustrating errors to be a properly great experience.

This app is monetizing fanfiction from independent creators by putting ads on story overviews and filling the screen with an ad upon exiting the text. It may be connected to AO3, but it's unlawful that this app has ads and a subscription service to remove said ads. As a writer that has had fics appear on this app, I do not approve of it, and encourage viewers to just use the mobile browser version of AO3. This app barely has anything above the mobile site's layout anyway, just a night mode.

I understand that this may be an unofficial ao3 of sorts, but I know that I definitely do not feel comfortable having my works on there, as i imagine many other people do. This is especially with the addition of ads, when you can get a completely free experience on ao3 itself.

This app stole my works. I did not give anyone at all any kind of permission to post my works anywhere. And basing on the complaints of A LOT of users having suddenly subscribed to the paid version without consent, I believe it's not a "bug" that did it. Please take this app down. Access to Ao3 is not difficult.

I'm one of the writers on the actual ao3 website and I did not authorize my work to be put on this app. I don't appreciate that the works can be downloaded. It makes it easy for someone to download my work and upload on to another platform, much like this app has done. I understand the desire for an app that does not require wifi, but I suggest getting permission to work with ao3

Congrats mate. Taking content from a free platform that actually offers the service you "deliver since it's not possible" for free. Instead of the subscription fee's. And ads you put in here. Congrats on leaching money from othermans work, especially since some of the creators have good intent and want to deliver it for free.

Guys I beg of you don't use the app! I've only downloaded it to write this review. Not once have I clicked on it. This app steals from Ao3, it's a third party who is making money off of other people's work. Delete the app and help us get rid of it! All these stories on this app are all readable on Ao3. This app uses ads and subscriptions=money. Ao3 doesn't have ads, it's a complete free place to write and read fanfics. Flag the app for copyright. This is utterly ridiculous and we should stop it.

Kay. L. Feb 16, 2020

This app is ripping fanfictions from ao3 and putting them on their own platform WITHOUT CONSENT from the authors. That is NOT okay. And then to top it all off it has the audacity to ask for money (through subscriptions and "Tips") for publishing other people's work. Shame on you!!

Gam. G. Feb 16, 2020

For everyone unaware - this app steals literally every single fic that is available on it to profit off something that would otherwise be free by allowing ads. I found four pages of my work, going back several years and as recently as the end of December 2019, that I never wanted posted anywhere else but the ao3 official site. if you want to read fics without ads, fees, missing text or chapters, and for a generally better experience in every single way, just use the official ao3 site

This app is a useless cashgrab that relies on another site (Archive of OurOwn) and the content creators who use that site as a way of making money. As the app's description states, the content creators don't get any profit and there is no benefit to the user either. The page format looks like it came from the early 2000s and it's very clunky. It's a step down from simply accessing the site normally and for free.

12/20/18- Please. PLEASE fix the bugs in the android app. Saved for offline fics don't load all the way, there is no feature to subscribe anymore, content chapter drop down does not work Update: I am trying to download stories and they won't show. The story info is there but when I click read its blank, I have restarted, logged in and out and uninstalled and reinstalled app. I love the way this looks, great layout but really hit or miss usage.

They're stealing fics from ao3 without permission and profiting from it, that is NOT okay. They could have done something good but instead they're deciding to go down the wrong path straight off the bat. I suggest you don't support this app and actually go to ao3 and support the original authors of these fics. You can read them for free too.

Sim. F. Feb 16, 2020

This app is unofficial and has ads. Fic writers were not contacted about having their work available through the app, it is unfair to sell their work through premium subscriptions and having ads, without the author's knowledge. More over, AO3 is already completely accessible to the public, with or without an account

Edit: seems that the login problems are fixed now, though I've been using the apple version on my tablet and was a bit surprised to see it was a superior version to this one: the bugs that the Android has seem to be tweaked out more, and simple actions like deleting things from your history are available. I've used the app long enough to know how to work around the bugs (and yes, they ARE annoying), so I can't complain too much, but I do wish this one were up to par with it's apple counterpart.

Eri. C. Feb 16, 2020

Don't download this app. This app not only STEALS copywrighted works from the hardworking authors of Ao3, but profits from these free stories. All profits go to the creator of this app, nothing goes to the authors or the website. While the app is free, basic features such as bookmarking and downloading works are not, and there's even an surscribe option. Ao3 has a well-functioning, fully featured mobile site which again, is FREE. Removing this travesty off my tablet.

Eri. H. Feb 16, 2020

I downloaded the app just to check if my original work posted on ao3 had been stolen and made available via this app. It has, along with many other works by many other other authors who did not give their consent! On Archive of our Own (ao3), you can view and download works to you mobile or computer in a number of formats without paying a subscription fee. This app is lying to you. It is also profiting by charging to view original works without the consent of the content creators.

I NEVER purchased the premium thing, and I dont know how to cancel it, or when the window of time is that I CAN cancel it and I REALLY don't want to spend all my money on something I don't use every day. I went to the google play store and obviously I found nothing. I'm trappes. Unbelievable.

Fro. S. Feb 16, 2020

I, an author of several fics that have been reposted to this app, did not give them permission to display my works and potentially make a profit from it. Bot only that, but the search/filter function is horrid, making it difficult to find what you want. You are much better off donating directly to AO3 and using the mobile site they have.

Ali. H. Feb 16, 2020

my entire library of works (and literally EVERY WORK ON A03) was stolen and this app is using them to make a quick buck. I didnt give my permission to have my hard work stolen by this ugly app. seriously, a03 already has a download function, had better search and tagging functions, and has a way better interface than this app. plus a03 never charges and supports authors. AND NO ADDS EVER! just go to a03. I've been reading on mobile for years and I've never had a problem. it's a beautiful site.

Air. B. Feb 16, 2020

My fanfiction from Ao3 was taken without my permission and posted on this app. While the app doesn't profit directly off my work, it still relies on advertisements to keep itself afloat while incorporating a "premium" feature that allows for more optional functions on the app. So indirectly, the app profits off my free work and that of others, which is unacceptable.

Jam. S. Feb 16, 2020

App worked fine for me, I was able to easily locate every story that I've written (along with tons by writers I know) that were originally posted on AO3 and used here without our permission. Please understand that when you download/use this app you are helping the developer to profit from works that are basically stolen from another sight and used without the permission of so many talented writers who put a ton of hard work into these stories. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.

The app is amazing, i love it, but for some weird reason it automatically relogs my account, the search bar is definitely broken, and saving fics is sometimes not working, even updating it, ... Also why isn't there a "content" and "next chapter" button on when im reading a fic? Like i always lose progress and get confused which chapter im always reading ... It goes back to chapter one once i press exit

I love this app! Been looking for something like this for years, it's great! The only thing though, I wish I could copy/paste links to fics instead of having to type in the title or the name of the author. A lot of the time there are many fics with the same name so you end up having to scroll through all of it until you find the one you're looking for. Also after a while the search engine stops working...

Honestly I'm outraged. My works are here without my permission. Author notes are gone. Formatting is messed up on my works & background art that isn't mine has been assigned to them. There're ad banners along the bottom of some screens so someone is profiting. Also, actual viewing is awful (text size & color selections are not accommodating) & navigation to kudos & comments is difficult enough that it dissuades leaving them. No features here that ao3 doesn't have (better & free!).
