Works great except it takes over the volume of your phone, causing it to change randomly. That is such a problem that it turns an otherwise fine app into useless garbage.
Flawless! Such a shame that I haven't found out about this app earlier. Controls my UPMPD renderer without any issue. Global volume control is great addition. Don't let the UI give you a bad impression - it has all the features you need.
Just hangs while searching for devices.
No ads, no purchases. Doesn't want to own your phone. Does exactly what it's supposed to do - control renderers in a UPnP/DLNA network. Drives Chromecast clean no fuss like a champ. Kudos to the dev for a nice piece of code. Very clean uncluttered interface as well. Good UX.
Can't find the way to automatically play next song in playlist. Maybe a problem on my DLNA render device but other controllers work. For all the rest, good app. Light, fast, no ads, simple and intuitive. Sorry, 2 stars for the "next song" problem.
Despite some shortcomings the only app I could find that fits my needs (control of multiple streams to multiple devices at the same time). Excellent work.
The only UPnP Controller I found that has controls that work without throwing errors on my playback device while also running much more quickly.
No transcoding to renderer
It is easy to use for multi room audio/video, probably the best iv found so far as simple to use and automatically finds devices. Would be better if the seeker bar worked and could fast forward and rewind. Also it is unable to find anything on my server.
A year later, I've tried so many DLNA/UPnP apps, bubble, allcast, localcast, ginko, mediahouse, and I forget the rest, but they all were horrible. While the interface of Monkey could use some cleanup, playback compatibility of video and audio is unsurpassed on my samsung galaxy tab2 and Pioneer SMA3 network speaker. I can play FLAC, MP3, MP4, AVI, WMV, MKV, every kind of file so far has not been refused. Over half of these will NOT play on my HDTV HDMI Sony and Samsung BD DLNA players on my LAN. FAIL! I NEVER pay for ANY app, but I would pay for Monkey. AWESOME! Playback codec compatibility as good as a HTPC, but simpler. Try this one first and then you might be able to skip the rest, and the pain and frustration.
The multi-renderer option works as well as DLNA will allow it to work, but the buggy playlist manager crashes the app a lot.
Works as promised, one of the best I have tested so far.
Some strange development decisions in this app. Works well. The central concept is novel.
Consistently finds my devices and files. Consistently plays them on the selected device.
works as expected - good.
Works as well as I'd have expected a monkey to work.
A good implementation of the controller DLNA profile. Bad implementation of the renderer DLNA profile i.e. if you want to watch a video directly on your tablet you'll probably not hear sound due to lack of support for most of the popular audio codecs. Fortunately for me however I only use it to control/play videos from my NAS to my Samsung TV.
It took a while to fully understand all the workings of the app, can easily replace the default android music too. Love how easy it is to control music in different areas. I think the people that complain just don't give it enough time. * It could to with the addition of fast forward and rewind, cross fade * add the capability to connect to bluetooth devices. * add the ability to steam all system sounds (if possible)
Originally 4 stars when i first rated it, i cannot get it to work any longer. First it crashed when adding to playlist, then it wouldn't find my windows music share (but video was fine).
Works great as long as you know what you're doing; not “intuitive” but an excellent app for what should be a core function in Android. Would be great if it supported fullscreen mode, or if there was an option to disable the device's own Rendered completely.
Plus points - looks great and easily the most intuitive and simple interface I've yet found for what it does. Minus points - This may be a general UPNP thing, but appears to take over and hog resources. I do only have a Hyundai T7, but.. Am also experimenting with different upnp clients, so conflicts? Dunno. The clincher is that I can't uninstall this, and know not why....
I would really like some way to disable the apps internal library and renderer. I'm using the it to pass the music library on my nas to the reciever, and this app just makes a second, empty, library appear on my network.
Impressive software on tablet form factor. Some crashes, minor anomalies with playlists, possibly device specific. Still gets 4 stars, expect that this will end up a 5 star app in time.
Works great, fast search, ui is a little confusing
Like the layout a lot but doesn't play anything (using sane set up that works otherwise)
I really like the clean interface but it does not display my nexus 5 as a local renderer or library. The volume also does not work from the phones volume buttons it is not listed in the share list.
Works perfectly to control my acer tablet with my samsung galaxy...bye bye bubble upnp and your restrictions
Thanks for this. Simple, connects to servers as described, party mode intriguing and the quick launch lets you carry on where you left off. It's the good stuff!
This app is broken. The app repeatedly tries to open and adjust the volume of my phone. Had to force close it just to take back control of the top of my screen. Fix this and I'll try again. It's a shame, the description made this app sound promising...
