App has many bugs, messages don't work and the notification system is vague. You would think that being a platform which provides IT services these would be priority and top shelf but it's not. Average app.
Team, new version is not working as expected. Most of the times, it doesnt go beyond initial logo screen and system says "app is not responding". Then even if you kill ongoing app and restart, the issue continues. Previous version too had glitches but it was manegeable. I am a paid user of Upwork and mobile app comes handy when traveling. But this new version is disappointing. I wish I had not uograded.
This is a terrible app. The message system is broken, you receive a full copy of the message in your notifications but as soon as you tap that, the message screen needs a good connection to do a full refresh, which often fails. Sometimes the app crashes. You can see a really limited amount of information. Limited settings. Mediocre UX. Really, with all the money that these platforms get from clients and (often underpaid) freelancers, which is often over 20% of the budget, you'd expect more.
The app is super buggy and becomes unresponsive constantly. Sometimes it can take up to 20 seconds for messages to load on a 300mbps connection. Almost unusable, and then if you have it installed you can't use the website to respond to messages because it redirects you back to the app. Fix the issues with the app if you are going to force redirect. Only thing it's good for is push notifications.
This app looks smart with a lot of features but is very slooooow. User unfriendly, frequent crashes "an error occurred". Notifies you of new message, despite you already read it.
Useful app. But 2 things should be improved as early as possible. 1. Message is very slow to open and send. 2. As a client I can't block a freelancer in message but a freelancer can block a client.
Terrible app. Very buggy, some screens won't show up. The app is barely useable most of the time. It would be better to not have an app than to release something like this.
Horrible app. UpWork itself is great, but this app is unresponsive, crashes all the time, notifications don't work, and runs extremely slow. I have deleted and reinstalled multiple times, but there is no fix. I will have to look to use other job platforms as the app experience elsewhere is efficient.
1. Too slow to reopen if using smartphone. Keep loading. 2. In tablet mode, can't rotate. So I have to use with -60 neck. 3. Lot's of freelance didn't understand what client want.
The app is good. Clean and user friendly. But i work as a freelancer and a client. But when one of my freelancers msg me i get notification in this app and not in the client app. This app also loads the messages little slow and the notification is not instant
No wonder Upwork has much lower review than Fivrr. I wanted to hire a freelance and I can't update my payment due to some issues and I have submitted a ticket 4 days ago and it shows solved but the problem hasn't resolved. I contacted them again and they created another ticket and no action yet.
The app is becoming unresponsive all of the sudden, I can no longer create an account. If I create an account; it will be blocked in the next 8-10hrs without me posting any project. It's becoming insanely annoying.
Some times it's so slow on loading and browsing. Otherwise it gets the job done. It's getting better on latest version.
If you guys didn't fix the loading speed of the app (mainly the message tab), the clients (buyers) will slowly move on to other alternatives. This slow loading issue has been there for more than 5 years now, and people have been complaining about it all over the internet. I wonder why the upwork quality assurance team is still not aware of this issue. The same issue goes with the freelancing app. Another thing is that you can not find the project catalog search tab on the client app.
App & desktop UX is garbage. And it's simple things like saving drafts of contracts, ability to hire from messaging, etc. The actual service is very helpful but isn't it supposed to be making our lives easier?
I sure hope the app gets updated more frequently as it lags quite often and I don't get freelancer messages in real time... overall though, upwork itself is an amazing platform. I wouldn't do without it!
Extremely unreliable messaging within app and website. Janky objects on the screen. Old messages appear as new. New messages appear as old. Little to no benefit if the app can't be trusted.
Rating 2 stars because I use both apps for working and hiring and I keep getting logged out and redirected to the other app. Why can't I use the 2 apps at the same time.
Overall great platform but the app is super slow and temperamental. Messaging platform laggy.
Very poor! Not sure what the problem is but I can't even type a message to a freelancer. The message gets completely distorted. Also, I had to create an account as client coz I can't switch from freelancer to client?!!
Really bad implementation. Not only uncomfortable but not functional. The app is slow. The way it, the website and the backend are built it takes too long on go to another screen, to click a button, to send a message. The when asynchronous way it's built makes it in ecessarily slow. Now that issue appears on the app as well, but sometimes the app gets confused and doesn't work anymore. Like now i can't message a freelancer because the message box isn't working. Seriously bad UX.
This app is some straight up NONSENSE! It crashes all the time. It's super unresponsive. The app takes about 5 minutes to sync up with the website. I'll get an alert for a message and I have to open the app and wait for it. This is terrible. UPwork it self is good just the app is bad.
Very buggy! When I write messages, they disappear from view. A recent update makes using this app intolerable. I had to reinstall it as email notifications are too slow when I get a message on my projects.
Loading messages sometimes takes a day. Sometimes I get notifications of messages way after they were sent. Unwork is what I use and having a poor mobile experience has made me think to keep using it. Please fix the message Loading issues.
The company upwork as a whole is good, great service... The app however :| absolutely dreadful honestly its almost pointless having the app just use desktop browser instead, app will fail you in almost every capacity.
Freeze frame and scams. I have an issue lately that stops me from communicating with people I want to hire. I also have an issue on the freelance side with scams. Communicating with customer service is a joke. I sent several complaints to get a scam company removed... guess how many responses I got? .... exactly. Sent a help support message... still waiting. So yes do be very very aware of these issues and be careful communicating with clients. Some are just trying to take your information.
It only does one thing, which is let you read messages, and it falls way short of my expectations even with that one task. I am not sure if it is only the app, or if it is due to all the other shortcomings on the Upwork platform contributing as well; however, it doesn't matter. I would not waste my time installing this app. I keep checking back every few years, yet there does not seem to be any significant improvement, so I end up uninstalling the app.
