US Military Rank & Reference

An Official US Navy mobile application, produced by the Navy PMW 240 Program and NETC
The US Military Rank & Reference app provides a fun, easy way to learn Military ranks and insignia across all branches of the Military. As most service members know, learning how to recognize who to salute and address properly by rank or uniform insignia is an integral part of any Military career.Part of the e-Sailor series of mobile apps, US Military Rank & Reference uses a short game scenario for quick and enhanced learning. The game randomly generates elements associated with Military rank, including collar devices, insignia on sleeves, and shoulder boards. The game provides multiple-choice visual selections and provides points for each correct answer. If a player answers incorrectly, the app shows them the correct insignia to reinforce learning.

A timing element in the game awards additional points for timely correct answers. By selecting the correct answer before the timer runs out, a user earns bonus points. However, there’s no stress here – a user only plays against the app. You begin with Navy ranks from 0-4,999 points. This progresses to Navy/Marine at 5,000-8,999 points and, at the highest level, Navy/Marine, Air Force, and Army at 9,000+ points. The user can see and identify all ranks across the Navy – from basic training when they are a Seaman to Chief Petty Officer to ranks of senior Admirals. Or they can switch their setting to the Marine Corps and view and identify ranks from Private to Gunnery Sergeant to General. Army and Air Force ranks and insignia are also included in the app. The US Military Rank & Reference app also includes a sortable reference area to review full sets of cross-service rank indicators for a variety of Military personnel: Enlisted, Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO), and Officers. The app is a great visual tool for learning Military ranks and can be revisited frequently by anyone desiring refresher training.

The e-Sailor initiative was instituted by the Master Chief Petty Office of the Navy. e-Sailor leverages state-of-the-art mobile technologies to transform training and enhance curriculum delivery methodologies at Recruit Training Command. The e-Sailor series of mobile apps is being developed to support this effort. The goal of e-Sailor is to increase the quality of work and quality of life for the 21st Century Sailor!

Great game, words can't describe how much I learnt from this game. Maybe they should teach me that instead 😂 But all jokes aside this game actually did teach me some things about the Marines, Navy and more. Maybe update it so you have to guess the rank by looking at the insignia and you have to type it in? I don't know, but yeah, once again, thanks. Great game. Thank you!👍

This app is terrible. There's no organization. You HAVE to start with navy, and the scoring is seemingly arbitrary. Instead of "8 out of 10" you'd recieve a score of maybe 4500? You must know collar, shoulder, and sleeve markings and there's no real study materials. DO NOT recommend this app. No real association is built by using it. This is what happens when the government spends money.

Good app to know all of the different ranks of the United States military. The only one flaw it has is that they forgot the U.S. Coast Guard. I enjoy the quizzes...🇺🇲

I was looking for an app like this but It doesn't have it for the Coast Guard which I need but other than that I would recommend to anyone who needs it for other branches.

Information is outdated. Don't use for 2022 rank and recognition.

Great way to study Navy ranks. Highly recommended for future sailors to aid in their studies.

My problem with it is for navy there isn't a Warrant officer 1, for navy and coast guard they skip w1, besides that I think everything's right

Yes, I know it's the same as Navy ranks, but it should be included, regardless.

The multiple choice answers should only include insignia for enlisted or officers, and only for the branch in question. Otherwise, it's too easy to guess correctly by the process of elimination.
