USB Media Explorer

Requires the following hardware: 1. An Android 4.0+ device. Please try the free "USB Photo Viewer" first if you do not have a Nexus device. Due to hardware limitations, the Nexus 4 is not supported.2. An USB OTG (On-The-Go) cable. Costs range from $1-10 USD, see screenshots for examples.3. An USB Flash Drive or USB Card Reader with a flash memory card inserted, see screenshots for examples. Please see the FAQ on our website if you are trying to connect an external hard drive or other device.

IMPORTANT: To use UME offline, you will have to activate the license by opening it online after installing.

To use:-If you are using an card reader, put the flash memory card in the reader first.-Attach your USB device to the OTG cable.-Attach the OTG cable to the Nexus or other device.-The application should launch automatically.-The File Manager tab can be used to manage and transfer files.-Use the Connect screen to determine the viewed device and the destination device for the Copy/Move operations.-The navigation menu to change between Photos, Videos, Document and the File Manager can be accessed by the three lines in the upper left hand corner.

Technical Notes:-1. A few people have reported issues with UME opening on startup. You can set "Launch Automatically" to "Never" in UME Settings.-DOES NOT REQUIRE ROOT! Rooting may void your device's warranty.-Hard Drives. It is strongly recommended that you use external power when connecting a hard drive to a tablet. Please see the troubleshooting guide on my web site for more information. Do not connect an unpowered hard drive to a phone!-This is a media streamer. Media types not natively supported by Android will require third party software. There are many excellent free and paid apps. in the Play market. For example:  "BS Player", "MX Player" and "Dice Player"-The internal music player only plays formats natively supported by Android. Almost the perfect app I was looking for! My only problem is that I can't get gif's or webp's to work in app. Maybe there is another format that would work that I can convert them to. but other than this I am very happy with the app!

I have used the app for about a year to view and manage trail cam images. It works flawlessly, and the new imbedded video player just made it better.

I haven't used this app a lot but it does seem to be able to read files from my ssd but the drive is imidiately ejected if I try to write anything to it 😕 Edit: it looks like the recent changes have fixed write issues I had with my Pixel and Samsung SSD, thanks! I tried beta build too but for some reason it was about 30-40% slower than non-beta, thought it could have been my phone too 🤷‍♂️

Ok product, I just bought it. Using on Samsung s10 If you tag as a favourite I can't see how you can then filter them? Also if delete multiple images at a time often get messages that some images can't be deleted.

USB Media Explorer doesn't have a 'paste' function. Once I select a file from source (either usb or internal) I don't understand how to select a paste function. I would expect it to operate much like any other operating system copy/paste file management. What am I missing?

Brand new Samsung T7 Touch. My Pixel 6 will not find the drive. Tried a few apps, this is only one that works. As soon as I unlock with my thumb using the samsung app I am able to browse the drive using this app. Not sure what is the issue with my Pixel but for £3 this is a no-brainer solution for me. thank you.

I just bought the app again today to see if I would get the same issue. I cannot access my ssd. I keep getting an error code: k7.b bad command signature 2-12. Can you provide a fix or a refund pls. Edit. Great customer service. Haven't found a solution just yet but I am impressed by their response time.

This app worked as expected twice on my Samsung tab A, then the slide show option disappeared which is the only reason I bought the app. I installed on my galaxy s21 phone and the slide show option is there and works which would be OK if there was an option to cast.

I've performed a few tests and it seems to work fine to read & write exFAT files on my microSD card connected as USB storage with a card reader on my Google Pixel 4a running Android 12.

Crashes whenever I try to open a photo or video stored on my new phone's internal memory. Used to be a solid app which I used for years and would love to be able to use again, pls fix and I will rate 5 stars with pleasure. Phone is Oppo Find X3 Pro, Android v11. Thanks

Updated, the develop seems to be planning to resolve some of the issues mentioned in my previous review. However, I should not have relied on this app for important work-related files or use it with large quantities of files, due to the lack of separation of Favorites into a new folder, and the glitchiness of the app in general. Created much more work for me when I purchased it to make life easier...

When opening a picture folder, the grid of pictures keeps refreshing, with pictures changing position until the full list loads. If you have like 1000 pictures, it takes like a minute where you cannot use the app. Than you press back and again wait a minute. Also I would like to be able to adjust the grid size and have a favorite button. As a photographer this would be super useful for selecting the best picture.

Just bought and used this and I love it! better than the free apps here because it lets you see thumbnails of the photos. some do not allow this so browsing through multiple photos here was a breeze. just want to request one thing: I can't see the number of files in a folder once i'm inside it, going up one folder does not refresh file count as well. would be helpful to see current number of files when sorted as well (by .jpg for example). Using Samsung Galaxy S7 plus.

I have used this app for a very long time and was very happy with it. Having just installed the latest update, I have to say that I am very disappointed. I don't like the new interface,. My music on both internal and installed card have the artist and album titles truncated making them virtually unreadable. Not only that over half of them are displayed in what looks like chinese characters. Please "if it aint broke" etc.

Great. I don't understand why Google can offer the pixel 6 with all formats...

Rob. R. Mar 10, 2022

I just bought the app and it doesn't read my ssd/usb card on my Google Pixel 6 Pro? Can someone please contact me to fix this problem or provide a refund? Your app came highly recommended but it's really frustrating to find out it doesn't work as described.

Fantastic App! This is the best photo viewing App. I've tried so many and most are way too slow to load with small thumbnails and constant crashes. This is perfect! Large thumbnails that load very fast. It's just like looking through your photo gallery with clear, speedy & large thumbnails. It's definitely worth paying for Apps like this. Very Highly Recommended!

Ignore the people who cannot fathom how to work this app. If you have half a brain you can use it. I've used this on multiple phones and tablets over the years and it was and remains to be the VERY BEST USB OTG file manager there is. Power flash memory, external hard drives, no other app works as well as this one for USB OTG. Try the FREE USB photo viewer first. If that works on your phone, this will too.

My Google Pixel 3a phone (OS = Android 11) wouldn't read any exFAT formatted microSD cards that I connected via a USB C card reader. Both Google's file browser and several other 3rd party file browser apps I tried wouldn't read them. Google's default file browser and connected devices (under system settings) detected all of the cards I tried, but invariably indicated an error reading them followed by a prompt to format, which would obviously erase all files stored on any given card. The cards all tested fine on my laptop and when I hooked up the same microSD to USB C adapter to a Samsung phone it read all my microSD cards with no issues. After a bit of online searching, I finally found an explanation as to why my Google Pixel 3a phone wouldn't read the cards via my USB C card reader. Apparently, some phones (especially budget ones that lack a microSD slot) don't natively support Microsoft's exFAT format on account the phones' manufactures opted to forgo Microsoft's exFAT licensing fees as a means to cut costs. This app gives my phone that functionality. Now when I attach my USB C card reader device, it reads exFAT formatted microSD cards just fine and I can transfer files to my phone's internal storage. In my case, I'm collecting camera footage of wildlife shot by motion-activated cameras. I'm out in the field in a remote area that's out of cell phone range, I and don't want to lug a laptop around with me. I'm giving the app four stars for now, as this app is working as I hoped it would. I may revise my score up or down accordingly after I've had more time to evaulute the app.

Sadly it refuses to read my Kingston USB thumbdrive (f8.b Command Failed Too man retries). I have to refund.

For years, I suffered with the atrocious, unreliable, buggy POS Fuji App for camera file transfers to my phone on the go. Then I bought an OTG Card Reader only to find out that Android 12 / Pixel 6 Pro DO NOT support exFAT format SD cards which all of my cameras use by default in camera formating (yes, you could use FAT32 but that's an extra hassle). Eventually I found this little gem. It's perfect, finally I can transfer my camera files regardless of the SD card format. Much love to the devs.

I have a crucial x8 external drive and this app won't recognize it. I'm using a pixel 6 pro. Is there a setting I need to enable?

Ran. C. Feb 12, 2022

Works flawlessly on my Pixel 6. Reads and writes in all of the drive formats that I need to, including NTFS. Excellent Job devs.

Thank you from a hunter. My phone wouldn't read a sd card reader. This works great with my sd card in my browning trail cams. Worth every dollar!

Was satisfied with the free version, but then I wanted to do more, like transfer some pics over to be published. Free doesn't allow, so I put my hand in my pocket and this version is also satisfactory. Using Android tablet with a USB Type/C 32GB Jumpdrive. Thanks again for a nice product.

Purchased this app and was very pleased with its performance for years. Recently I attached my device to my tablet and was greeted with a terrible interface. My stored videos on my storage device do not play immediately like before. Now, the app is downloading my already downloaded videos! What the hell?! I am terribly disgusted.

Jak. P. Feb 12, 2020

I don't think it would be fair of me to give anything less than a 5 star review—even though I'm not a huge fan of the recent update—because I used this app for a long time without any problems. Also, I respect a developer who is responsive and communicative, which this app's developer appears to be. My main problem with the update is the files I transfer don't appear right away, whereas they always did before. Any suggestions or a fix would be much appreciated.

Duk. P. Feb 12, 2020

Can we please have the apks from the old versions? The new interface is massive and difficult to use. We used to have a few more options to configure the layout how we wanted. I want to be able to see more than four files on each half in split screen mode... 😭
