USDA MPI Directory
The USDA MPI Directory app allows customers to ‘look up’ or search establishments by location or zip code, type of inspection, establishment name or number and type of establishment. Customers can look up the information on a mobile device, when it’s needed from any place, anywhere, at any time!
Want to know where your food was produced or what an establishment produces? Just search by establishment name/number location/zip or type of establishment/inspection type.
The USDA MPI Directory app allows customers with or without an internet connection to access the information. While initial download and regular updates to the mobile device will require an internet connection, the directory information resides on the mobile device giving customers the option to look up information without an internet connection. Data is refreshed at least monthly and is also available as text or data downloads from the FSIS and Data.gov websites.
The FSIS Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) created the downloadable mobile application for mobile devices, such as phones and tablets, to access the USDA MPI Directory data with increased functionality. While initial download and regular updates to the mobile application will require an internet connection, the mobile application’s normal mode of operation will give customers the option to work without a network connection.
Currently, the existing USDA MPI Directory public web page is accessed approximately 25,000 times per month. By making this public health information available via a mobile application, it is expected that the public access will significantly increase. As of May 13, 2013, the Android version of USDA MPI Directory was released and the Apple (iOS) version will be released December 2013.

A simple database that is easy to use to inform you in stores about who processed 3rd party meat/poultry/eggs. Sadly, it has been abandoned and won't run on modern Android versions.
Hasn't been updated in years. While it works just fine on Android 8, it won't run on 9 or above.
No longer possible to download the directory; last update 5 years ago. App appears abandoned and should be removed from the Play Store. Shame too, because it was useful.
Does not work on newer Android phones. This app would be incredibly helpful while conducting inspections. So disappointed. Please update.

For everyone who has had issues with this app working on newer phones, I have officially reported the glitch to the proper IT personnel for them to repair the problem.
Installed on a pixel 2 doesn't work, never got it opened, just kept crashing.

Doesn't help me figure out my nearest USDA inspected processor. I can only search on single zipcode or single city. Not helpful.
Informative guidelines and health concerns!
A list of establishments does NOT provide consumers with inspection information to avoid contamination, product recall, etc. (Voluntary?) compliance when companies fail to provide food safety seems unfair to the consumer and health hazards to all. Your site need work!
I don't know why I didn't download this earlier. Great tool for inspectors to check labeled establishment #'s on the spot for compliance.
Back before this app was available, I used to keep the Establishment List on my phone as a PDF file so I could search it while shopping. That's not necessary any more...and using the app is much faster than a PDF lookup. Thanks, USDA!
They are not all available. I wish the application made for I phone users was available for galaxy. Terrible app this is.

Good idea, but the search using establishment number needs work.
Worked well till I got a new phone :( After trying to reinstall it just crashed, when I finally got it installed it won't update so most of the plants aren't listed so not much point using it Not sure why someone can't fix or replace this app as (to my ignorant self) it just seems to be querying an online database on some gov website - but I AM NOT A PROGRAMMER so what do I know? I do miss being able to lookup stuff on this app however.
