Since the last update the app will no longer open. It crashes immediately. Longer messages can not be read as there's no way to scroll down to see the full text. Has been one of my most used apps but sadly no longer workable.
Doesn't work. The free app works better. All I get in the paid version is a successful connection but failures to actually update the feeds.
Crashes too much since latest update, when u click on a binary file it crashes and you have to restart the app and find the newsgroup thread again, please fix and I'll update my rating.
Since 21st october update, crashes instantly, does not open. Also does not quote in replies properly, I guess this is because android 9 I use... edit, now program is fine
No longer works. I purchased and used this from around 2013-2017 but on modern Android versions it no longer functions in any way at all. Use Phonews instead.
Didn't appear to quote properly. Replying just had all the quoted text running together with no paragraph separation etc.
The app stopped working on newer phones. I contacted the developer, but recieved no reply.
The paid version is worse than the free version! Can't see any of the replies to a post. Got a refund.
Joining multi part messages does not work. If you try to combine and decode a multi part yEnc post, it just freezes with the time wheel. Message says, sync: 0 or sync:-1. Don't waist you money on this. Joining messages has been around for over 15 years. Big missing function. Stick with the free version for single part messages. Also, no updates in a long time.
Do not waste your money. The free version works fine for the 3 groups I follow. The paid version can only read 1 of them. Just briefly flashes "Failure" for the other 2. ZERO response from the developer(s).
The option to turn off 'delete old articles' would be quite handy but other than, good work.
Body text no longer wraps at screen edge for me which makes reading articles very difficult . Using Nexus 5X with Android 6.0.1 and February 2016 security fixes
Doesn't synchronize at all on newer android os. Seems to be abbendoned since years. So better don't waste your money.
As another review said, this stopped working when on Marshmallow. No development since 2014.
Has stopped opening messages now My Galaxy A3 has upgraded to Marshmallow.
It was working, i bought to support the writer, now it's not.....i reinstalled my newsgroups from scratch and it is ok now.
The view option of showing only unread does not work in latest version 1.64 on Nexus 7 2013. Always shows all threads and posts. Please fix!
Has more functionality than I expected. The ability to mark all posts "read" when catching up is particularly useful. having tried several newsreader apps this is the one I've settled on.
Pretty good, even if it lacks some of the features usually found in a full-fledged desktop-PC newsreader.
This is the best Usenet client I have ever used, not only on Android either, but windows as well. The only usenet reader you will ever need. Excellent.... Try it and buy it...... The developer deserves your support, because this client is wonderful....
I'm giving it 4 stars because my Usenet provider doesn't use port 563 for SLL, but that seems to be the only SSL port that functions with this app. It seems the textbox for the port is ignored and it still tries to use 563 anyway. If this minor issue gets resolved, this is easily a 5 star app and I will update my review appropriately. Still well worth the purchase!
Been using the (free) version for several months and liked it better and better the more I used it. He's packed all of the features I need into a small package, and, while some of them may take a while to "discover" they make nntp access not only possible but easy when mobile. I've reached the crossover point where I prefer accessing the groups I participate in on the Nexus7 over treking to my desktop and firing up ThunderBird as I have been doing for almost two decades. This "paid" version has additional benefits plus no ads which is a nice step up from the free version. In addition, there is a server settings "save" and "restore" option in both versions that makes upgrading painless, but, I suggest taking screenshots of the settings screen as that does not port when upgrading. The program is incomplete and needs further development of headline download, message display, and yEnc file naming routines. So far, so good, but lots of rough edges need attention. The author responds to questions and presumably is continuing development, so there's hope that it will eventually be ready for prime time. I am prepared to upgrade my rating when the author finishes this good but incomplete program.
This is by far the best newsgroup app available for Android devices. It's well worth the small charge!
What good is it if it does not decode yenc. Most jpg posts use yenc
Crashes when trying to open a newsgroup on Android N
Some Usenet posts are displayed in quite big monospaced font without line wrapping, displaying just about first 35 characters of the lines. If one wants to read them all, one must drag the post sideways. It is extremely inconvenient and often leads to unwanted switch to other thread, if dragged too much. Turning phone horizontally does not help, as the left side of screen displays the thread structure. There is also a mess in the quoted text in a reply, which is stripped of carriage returns.
