User Dictionary Manager (UDM)

It does work. Export, import, and dict management are functional and easy. The in-app help could be clearer. On Android 11, as SAF permits SD access, warning about /sdcard isn't needed. Those still using it are aware. Permissions requests are aggressive and ill-behaved. Looping toast messages on first launch are unpleasant, unnecessary, and can persist if the app is closed. It also fails into a rapid, strobing loop if perms are denied twice. Consider closing it or graying out options instead.

Simple App but DEFINITELY one of the few I absolutely use every day. First used when the built-in personal dictionary was having problems... I keep it handily in the Edge Panel & never have to navigate SETTINGS add a new entry. Exporting a backup literally take seconds & ONE TIME of losing every single shortcut + word/phrase/snippet taught me to keep a "BACKUP Backup" & THIS APP IS THE ONE!! (especially if, like me, you use sliding KB shortcuts/snippets by the truckload!!)

I like this app heaps. You can export the text file to a PC for editing, which is way easier when you can use a full size keyboard. Import the text file into excel. Cut and paste lists of words from the web. Possibilities are numerous...and when you've finished editing your personal dictionary. Import the edited file back into your phone.

Hi Adrian: Thanks for this welcome app! Google made accessing the word list ridiculously complex. (It's not a "dictionary", BTW—if you don't believe me, look it up in a dictionary. 😆 ) It works great on my Samsung Galaxy, but it says it exports wordlist.txt to "/storage/emulated/0/". Apparently that just means internal storage's root… You may want to mention that in your notes. [EDIT:] Nice design update! Continuing to appreciate your effort and generosity. 📖 😁👍

Android (and Gboard especially) just seems to love filling up your dictionary with misspelled words. My phone has no way of getting rid of these, lest I go through every single word one by one and tap "delete". Needless to say, I wasn't about to spend an afternoon cleaning up my phone's mistakes. This app allowed me to simply throw out the entire dictionary and save myself the trouble.

Even though this app has outdated interface design, it's very useful. UPD:"Adrian, I think we have a misunderstandment here. I'm thankful for your work, but rating of 4.5 is well deserved here. And gratuitousness of your time investment doesn't have anything to do with people's lack if gratitude. If the app was paid, I would still rate it for 4 stars".

Does one job, and does it very well. If I were to ask for one feature to save time, it would be to offer some quick edit buttons, such as to capitalize a name. But again this is great for a free app, thanks for sharing this.

It does some things. One thing it doesn't do, which is what I need, is to show you what is currently in the personal dictionary so that you can delete unwanted entries. You can search for an unwanted word you know us there, and then delete it, but you cannot display a simple list of what is in the file. Guess it's back to the text editor and hunting through file manager.

Love it! I've used for several months and what a time and life saver (moving old personal dictionary to me phone). Great App!! Edit 06-07-21: This app makes it so easy with use daily to quickly adjust your keyboard dictionary. You have to use this app to edit dictionary but it makes it SO simple and saves so much time. Thank you for this wonderful app!

Disappointing. Only lists 33 of the 45 entries that I've added through GBoard. And from only one of my two dictionaries, "all". It recognises the other one, but says it's empty, although there are 33(!) entries in it via GBoard. *** EDIT: THE SYMPTOMS I'VE LISTED INDICATE A SHORTCOMING IN THE APP, NOT STUPIDITY ON THE PART OF THE USER. READ AGAIN, CAREFULLY!

I use a Redmi 4, android 7, and this is literally the only good app that does what it says and that too for free. it's hella fast, backs up everything in a .txt file, that you can edit anytime you want and go on adding as many words as you feel like.. it also cleans duplicate words. i swear, this is a gem. please use it. literally, it'll save you many many times if you reset your phone as much as me. much love to the creator!❤️

I love this app. It is best app I've found that allows you to manage your user dictionary. When you use a lot of shortcut words that expand to full words like I do then you need a way to backup and restore (sync) your user dictionary on multiple devices. I use it on my cell and tablet. Good job devs!

Samsung phone. A lot of people have them. Would it be an exaggeration to say millions? I need a dictman for that. I can easily edit the other keyboard's dictionary without this app. I only need it for the Samsung. So, doubly useless to me, unfortunately. I take this position because to make an app that doesn't help millions of users is like selling only shoes for left feet and not right.

The only one of its kind that has search (live filter). I do wish there could be an option to enable arbitary substring matching (so that if i don't know how a word/phrasr starts I can still find it). Thanks for the great app

It gets the job done, but... I would like to know, is it possible to import a list WITH shortcuts already added? I tried to do it by modifying an exported files with shortcuts but when I imported it back, it just detected it as a single word

one of the few app. that actually work it is simple going nothing fancy no other additional overhead bells and whistles does the job.only thing is at the time of restore to another phone you have to type out the target path and that is perfectly fine

This app completely solves my problem: the Android personal dictionary screen where you maintain the content simply stopped working for no apparent reason, but this app works just great so I can update the dictionary easily again.

I think there is some issue it does not clearly say that google dictionary has character limit, but instead it shows error message, it is a big problem for 1st time users, this kind of problems waste a lot of time, before we figure out what is the reason.

Support google pinyin input shortcut dictionary. Export and import the dictionary to NEUTRAL LANGUAGE. Switch from android 7 to 11. Google pinyin input support T9, draw, ChangJie, convenience switch between english and chinese keyboard. Better than Gboard.

Good backup, possibility to import words into the Dictionary (through a txt file) and it also has its own collection of dictionaries available for import. Nice and useful tool.

Would like to see this app on Android 6 and 7. There is a way but you have to get it to ask for a permission from settings. I higher forms of Android I use another app which goes through this routine. You really ought to look at it. If you are using Eclipse to compile you need to try Android Studio. Chances are it will have helps. Give it a shot!

Allows me to delete mistypes that automatically add and can no longer be accessed on Galaxy phones. Does anyone else find that they're incapable of exporting? I get a message that there are no words. Galaxy S9+

my import to Google keyboard was failing with no explanation will need to leave a bad review there but this app saved my life. I was able to import the words over and see them successfully move to my Google keyboard. kudos and respect to the developers :)

Imported 80,000 word British English dict to my phone's (NEX 3) default and fixed US English - took 20 minutes, fine. Now no longer irritated by spellchecker's highlighting of 'proper' English words.

A must have app. Really improved my productivity. I imported 14000 words from my personal word list. Which I had to type letter by letter earlier. And now I can swipe type them. Big thank you to the developer for keeping it free.

Works great! Could use file browser integration to point to an existing dictionary file, instead of copypasting a file path.

if new mobile purchased, it takes a lot of time get suggestions from Google keyboard. But this app simplifies it as we can restore our words from backup. Sort of saviour !!
