The 1945 Constitution, or abbreviated as the 1945 Constitution or the '45 Constitution, is the current basic law. The 1945 Constitution was passed as a state constitution by PPKI on August 18, 1945. Since December 27, 1949, the RIS Constitution was in force in Indonesia, and from August 17, 1950 in Indonesia the 1950 Constitution was adopted. Presidential Decree July 5, 1959 re-enacted the 1945 Constitution , with the acclamation being confirmed by the Parliament on July 22, 1959.
During the period 1999-2002, the 1945 Constitution underwent 4 amendments, which changed the composition of institutions in the constitutional system. Prior to the amendment, the 1945 Constitution consisted of the Preamble, the Body (16 chapters, 37 articles, 65 verses (16 verses came from 16 articles consisting of only 1 verse and 49 verses came from 21 articles consisting of 2 or more verses), 4 articles Transitional Rules, and 2 paragraph Additional Regulations), and Explanations.
After 4 amendments were made, the 1945 Constitution has 16 chapters, 37 articles, 194 verses, 3 articles of the Transitional Rules, and 2 articles of Additional Rules.
In the Minutes of the 2002 MPR Annual Session, the 1945 Constitution was published in One Manuscript, as a Manuscript and Compilation Manuscript without Opinion.
The Indonesian Independence Preparatory Agency for Investigation (BPUPKI) which was formed on April 29, 1945 was the body that drafted the 1945 Constitution. During the first session that lasted from May 28 to June 1, 1945, Ir. Sukarno conveyed the idea of ​​a "State Foundation" named Pancasila.
