This app doesn't work, no wind measurements possible. The company went into liquidation in 2018. Not sure why they're still selling the vaavud hardware... They open sourced the app on GitHub maybe that version would allow at least wind speed measurement.
Has no settings to set wind speed. Has not been updated for years. business is longer operating
What a stupid application... I have a wind sensor from vaavud but the application doesn't work with it. Actually it doesn't work anyway...
Great app, great system, just check beforehand whether your phone has a compass or not!
Yet another kickstarter that dies after success and leaves you with an item with little or zero functionality!
is there no chance to save, o send the data (i mean the data not a picture of the graph)
I got the wind reading 15.7 mph and I love it
This project died some while ago and the devices (at least the Sleipnir) no longer work
The website is down, no apps listed that give alternative to vaavud app
I have vaavud sensor and app not work
Great idea at first but these guys are generations behind on which phones it works with. When I had it on my M7, it was fine. Now with the M9 and M10, neither of the two phones work with either of the Vaavud products I have and I just got an email trying to sell a new one for $500! No way Vaavud, not until you support the products you already sold me.
I had this on my iPhone's a few years ago and it worked for a week then quit altogether. I got a new windmeter device from Vavuud fighting it was a faulty unit and again the same thing, runs for a week then goes deaf or whatever. So now I've got a Samsung tablet and it appears to be working today. We"'ll see. It is tragic this potentially fantastic device is so buggy as the design of the red cupped windmeter and the Slph. is first rate. I'm keeping the faith guys. Hope the bug fixes allow it to work.
Support is shallow, wind direction is a gimmick. App wind direction modestly accurate, despite their claim that all you need to do is calibrate your phones compass via Google maps update. Wind direction based on the assumption that your phone is always pointing north, Vaavud claims the app does not require a connection, but wont launch with out all of the following. Your phones Status and identity, read, modify, or delete the contents of your usb storage. View network connections, pair with blue tooth devices. I can understand the app requires the ability to change your audio settings because it plugs into the audio jack, but why full access to all media files. Why all the above mentioned, and why full network access. Without all theses permissions the app will not launch. I really wanted to use my brand new cool looking wind toy, I am so tempted to let you guys have full access to my network connections, files and images. Its not like your in my neighborhood or know me right, what harm could come of some people in eastern Europe having all that access and info. funny thing for a app that does not require a connection. Save yourself the trouble of returning.
This is just a toy and if you don't give access to photos and other private data, you are not allowed to use at all even if you bought the anemometer attachment. Not useful as an instrument. Only a way for the authors to steal your data!
Having trouble getting the app to respond to the wind sensor. Using HTC u 11, I'm not able to get any reading. Also there is no way to calibrate device like there was in the past.
I have the selphir, worked great on my Samsung S5, purchased new phone (Samsung j7) hasn't worked since, even purchased an adapter that Vavuud recommended. Great idea, not so great performance.
Worked fine until I upgraded to the S9. Doesn't work with it at all so completely useless now
I installed and reinstalled about 7 times to make sure all the warning are off and everything is set as the msg say, but still nothing when I click start. Galaxy S7. What else can I do?Sleipner
Does not work on Android phone above 9 knots.
Why the hell I cannot use the app without giving you access to my private data? Why are you asking permission that is not needed for the wind measurement?
Not giving access to my files for some dumb weather app
This is a great app for a compact easy to use anemometer. I have the Sleipnir and find it very reliable and consistent when taking readings. The wind direction is a useful bonus, not a feature on some anemometers. The Sleipnir itself is robust and easy to store. I like the social aspects of the app, like sharing readings and seeing other people's readings. The history is really useful too - I keep logs for UAV flying and it's easy to call up readings after a day's flying. Great anemometer and great app!
Doesn't work with galaxy s7.
2 Years since I bought this device and it still doesn't work with my Kyocera k-701, one of the major robust smartphone. Probably developers think that at see you somehow can use non-waterproof device.
Best wind forecast app with many cool features out there. Both, the app and the wind meter-definitely a must have!
I was surprised by how quickly and easily it worked on my Samsung S10. I found the meter itself on clearance for less than $10 at West Marine. There's a post on Sailflow that they are hosting the app, but since Vaanud is technically out of business, it would be nice if the meter worked with other apps.
