Great app!! Have had it now for 2-3 months never had any issues. I recommend 100%!! Fast forward to almost a year later, this bank is one of the worst out there, they literally closed my account with over 2k in it, no email, letter or call was sent out to let me know about the status of my account, I found out the hard way when my card kept getting declined knowing I had money in it. They said they would send my money via check in 7-14 days, this was late July of 2020, it's now OCTOBER, NOCHECK
This is by far, hands down, the best prepaid debit card out there. No fees whatsoever. They say zero means zero and they aren't kidding. That's almost unheard of with prepaid cards nowadays. They also offer an optional savings account that earns interest, with a really cool automated way to help you save. It will round up to the nearest dollar and the change goes right into yourhighly savings account. Adds up quickly and 😛🤐 barely notice the deductions. I highly recommend! 👍👍👍
They're support line is great, and they also apparently make their own music as well - which Varo uses instead of cheesy elevator music while you're on hold. I've noticed, since they've updated their app the last few times, that it loads incredibly slower than it did before. When first opening the app you'll see Varo come up on the screen as it's spelled out, which it does this maybe 10-12 times.. in all it may take it 15 seconds or so to load. Whereas before it loaded almost instantly.
I linked multiple accounts (paypal, capital one, local credit union) through the app very easily. Don't seem to have any problems with transfers. The auto-save from every paycheck is awesome. 2 direct deposits and use your debit card account often and you get an almost 3% APY on your savings! This is why I switched. I think the card itself is ugly; I wish you could customize it. This is hardly something to consider in a bank account, though!
I love this app and banking account!! I don't need any minimum balance, no hidden fees, added savings account at no extra charge and excepted anywhere Visa cards are! On the downside you have to pay $3.95 to add money to your account without direct deposit and the minimum you can load is $20; but to me it's still worth getting!! The app even has a map of places near you that reload your account, worth any annoying flaws! You can even have it as a backup if having problems with a physical bank!
Absolutely love this bank. After years of struggling with banks that have poor, non-user friendly apps and unexceptional customer service, I have finally found a bank that is straight to the point with a user friends UI. That and amazing offers to help save and make money. Setting up direct deposit is incredibly easy, along with transferring money. I don't think I'll be switching banks for a very very long time.
The app is very user friendly, love it! I also love the fee-free overdraft protection and the Save Your Change feature, in which you can chose to automatically round up to the nearest dollar when making a purchase and it goes directly into your savings. It also lets you switch money between your checking and savings account very easily! I used to get my paycheck deposited on Friday, but now with the early deposit feature it goes in every Tuesday evening. The most hassle-free checking ever!
I love Varo! I originally had an account with Chime but I don't even use it anymore — I even deactivated my card! I don't have any complaints about the mobile app experience, banking service, etc. However, I do have a suggestion… it would be nice to have the option to set up a login pin (separate from the one used with my debit card) so I could use it to access my Varo app. Instead of having to keep my account credentials saved on the login page. I feel it would be more secure.
So far so good, its quick and easy. I get my check 2 days early, no fees whatsoever. I really like it. Also, it comes with a savings account as well, and with every purchase, the remaining change from that purchase to make a full dollar is transferred to the savings. For instance, a $2.15 purchase, then $0.85 is put into the savings, they can really add up quickly, plus you can set a percent of your deposits to be sent to the savings for easy and convenient savings.
I like to say my overall experience has been great! I do however have a few suggestions. Mobile deposit for android users with instant deposit option. As moneypaks can be costly. Being able to deposit cash thru a linked bank would set you apart from the others. A bonus for new customers who don't have direct deposit. A faster money transfer system. I've used Bluebird, and the money always transfered instantly. The customer service I recieved has been great. 4 stars overall.
There are no fees for banking with Varo and the fast direct deposit and payment clears make it very easy to use. You can even have it automatically save a portion of your paycheck into your savings account instead of having it all deposited into the checking account. They send you a debit card for free as well. I'm only giving 4 stars because the advertised $50 no fee overdraft only kicks in if you get $1000 or more deposited into your account each month.
I thoroughly enjoy using Varo! It's an easy interface with plenty of awesome features! I was able to connect my direct deposit by just pulling up the app, I have never had an issue with charges and if there's ever a problem or question I need answered customer support is always kind and super helpful! I highly recommend Varo! I tell all my friends to switch to Varo! Plus the card is soooo pretty! 10/10!
I love using Varo! I got a bank account, hassle-free, with no hidden fees, and really almost no fees at all! I don't like that I have to pay $3.95, to reload my card, but that is the only issuse I have had with this app. They allow up to a $50 overdraft with no fees attached as long as paid in 30 days. That has also been helpful at times, especially during this pandemic,... Thanks for being there for me, Varo!
I like how easy the app is to navigate. Customer service is pretty responsive in a timely manner. There's some good kick backs for friend referrals as well. I haven't had any issues setting up the account, or linking my other accounts. Direct deposit with overdraft protection is nice. Only issue I have had is trying to link apps like Dave and Earn-in. Only one loaning agency wouldn't accept the routing information, which wasn't really an issue for me. Had this over a year now
They never sent me a debit card so I have my money is in limbo. I have ordered it multiple times through the app, phone calls and emails but none have arrived. I have checked my address each time and it has always been correct. With out the debit card you literally can't do anything and can even use all the call service options. This is the worst bank I've ever worked with! Highly recommend to avoid the hassle and headaches this bank causes.
I think the UI is a bit unappealing, but it's efficient and works well, so I'll live lol. Easy to open the account, easy to link an external account, easy to transfer funds, etc. Savings account gives 1.92% yield, so I like that. I opened this account primarily to use for saving. If you're looking for online banking, this is good, as there are literally no fees, and if you meet certain criteria, you can even overdraft $50 without any fees.
Best mobile bank account I've had and I've had em all! The thing I like the most is no fee's ever and they mean it! If you have a minimum of $1,000 deposited into your account a month then you qualify for no fee over draft protection up to $50, so you can go over up to $50 and they'll pay it without charging you a fee. Also as soon as they receive your deposit they release it. You also have a savings account that collects interest. There's too many benefits to list go check em out for yourself!
Great so far. It has been such a hassle free change from the typical brick and mortar banks. The savings rates are pretty great. Easy to get the 2.8% working on your savings with just $1000 direct Deposit a month and 5 purchases. If you can't make that happen, you still get 1.61% which is still at the higher end of the competition. I have had ZERO problems with the bank and the card. App is great. Super well done with lots of options and FAQ. Support over the phone is great and helpful.
I've never had any issues with Varo. Been smooth sailing since I signed up, way better than any traditional bank I've dealt with. App is snappy and quick, and simple to learn but also has all the features I need and then some. Love the fee-less ATMs, too. I do wish logging in via the website offered features similar to the app, but it's pretty barebones. Still, no big deal, all the positives outweigh that tiny negative for me.
So I'm actually in love with Varo. By far the BEST banking app I've used AND I've got 3 easily accessible fee-free ATMS near me if I need them. The user interface is simple, but looks very nice and professional, while also being almost cute? Plus I love the design of the card, it makes it harder for people to see/steal your information while also being current with an electronic chip. Any/all transactions I've made in app/out have been simple, smooth. I just love it! 150/10 recommend !!!
Downloaded 3 days ago and went through the signup process. Then got a notification to upload photo ID via the app. But every time I log in, I'm immediately taken to a page that just says "Thanks for applying!" with a button labeled "exit app" on the bottom of the screen and an X on the top which also exits. I've reinstalled multiple times, no change. Just got an auto-email from Varo saying how much they'd like me to upload my photo ID. Probably as much as I'd like them to make an app that works
Easy to set up and get started. Card arrives in about a week. You can link about any other account you could ever want to with it. My employer doesn't do direct deposit but I really wasn't interested in that feature. It is easy to add money with a MoneyPak card. Transfers instantly, no having to wait a week to get it, which is nice. Customer service is helpful and friendly since I had an issue setting up my PIN. I would say that Varo is a great banking solution. I would recommend it to anyone!
Varo has been great. I joined months ago, no fees ever. Most of my banking is digital. I don't deal with cash often so Varo is a good fit for me. I use direct and mobile check deposit and they are typically very fast to show I'm my account. Auto saving features are great, everything is streamlined and straight forward. One note for the team: get the Android app up to par with Apple's. I have to use my iPad to access some features I wish I had on my phone!
I've had issues with using my Varo card as a debit or ATM transaction due to an "incorrect pin". I was certain I had it correct from when I activated, but called customer care to change it to what I believed it already was. Still says incorrect pin when I try to run it as debit or ATM to get cash, calling again is on my agenda. Other than that, they are GREAT. I enjoy the simplicity of all my accounts in one app. I use this app on my Chromebook but have an iPhone, and the iPhone version is awesome with the finance planning, goals, and tracking. Can't wait for them to roll out the full Varo experience to Android users!
I have had great experiences with Varo. They were super helpful when I had an unauthorized charge on my acct. I didn't have to wait to get a new card bcuz they automatically disable your current card when you dispute a charge. So it's good to know that you should withdrawal or transfer your money in order to have access to it. But OVER-ALL L💙VE Varo and would def recommend to all my friends
Varo still has a ways to go in terms of features and account information most banks provide. The balance after each transaction, the option to continuously transfer money to external accounts (right now only a limited amount each month can be transferred), to name a few. Their early deposit feature does not always deposit early, I'm hoping that can be fixed because it was a great feature.
Issue fixed 5 star Can't even use the app. Ever since the last update, it won't even open. When I try to open the app, it just freezes and then eventually says the app isn't responding. It gives me the options to close, wait, or send feedback. I've tried all. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled several times now to no avail. I would really like to be able to use the app and this is extemeley inconvenient. Fix the issue and I'll happily give 5 stars. This is my only issue, but it's a huge one.
One of my favorite feature of this app was the ability to quickly glance at all the balances on my home page/dashboard. With the new update, the other accounts are hidden in a separate section, independent from Varo account balances. Hopefully the development team can either change it back or give users the option to select their preferred display style.
User-friendly app that's easy to navigate through. I see my direct deposit up to 2 days early which is awesome and the interest rates for the savings account is unbeatable. I have seen other high-savings accounts that have great interest rates in the beginning but slowly reduces it as time goes by but not Varo bank! Love it. The only thing I don't like about it is the push ads.
I've been with Varo for about 2 years & I love it! There are no fees for ANYTHING as long as you use an Allpoint ATM for cash. They don't provide you w/ paper checks; however, you do have the option to have a check mailed to whomever you choose. I've used this service several times with no issues. The app provides instant notifications when $ is deposited or debited, keeping me well-informed about my checking account, which also includes a free, no-minimum savings account w/ no-fee transfers.
