VAVA Dash

Dash cam good.. App, not so much! Last night we witnessed a high speed chase that resulted in multiple injuries. I get home to look at the footage on the dash cam and this app hasn't stored a recording since DECEMBER 25th despite there being plenty of space on the SD card! I've been playing with it all morning and cannot get it to keep any recordings!! So frustrating! And it hasn't stored a travel log since June! WTH!?!?

Bought it brand new. Constantly is missing 10-20 seconds of video between its recordings. I set it to 3 min intervals from 30 seconds hoping this would help. I contacted support because the courts wanted to see video proof of a accident that i was involve. Unfortunately the recording was in between recordings and the important part never was recorded. I then was told to update the cam with my computer. I never received a computer with the dash cam so I'm not sure how they expect that to happen.

I don't like the fact you can't view the videos in the app unless you download them to your phone. Since the video loops only range from 1-3 minutes, depending on your setting, you have several videos to go through. You pretty much can't do anything unless you're connected to device's wifi which has a very short range. The dash cam is great! The app, not so much.

Works as advertised (so far). When I set the camera to record in 1 minute loops, there's no gap in continuous recording (AFAIK, but it's my first day using it). I'm actually pretty pleased with how it works, especially after reading some of the negative reviews before installing the app (for me, it works exactly how I expected it to -- it continuously records in 1 minute chunks, and you can connect to it via wifi and download them). I didn't update firmware, and will report back any cons.

This app is absolutely worthless. The camera quality is quite good, however, the app is impossible to keep a connection. If you want to use it you have to sit in your vehicle with the device plugged in and your vehicle keys turned on. Even then, if it does connect then it disconnects quickly. If you are lucky to keep a connection, it says the brand new formatted memory card is too slow and or full. This gets 1 star because there is not a lower option.

Takes a bit learning the quirks. The firmware was recently updated to 1.4 and it seems a little better overall. Connection issues have lessened. A few things I've learned tho: if the memory card is full, it will NOT connect to your phone. I've had to take the card out and erase false "emergency" files myself. Second, after changing your password go to the network and sign in. Don't go through the app. The quality of the app still leaves something to be desired, but overall experience is decent.

Terrible app. Doesn't connect half the time, requires wifi, and gps to be on, and you need to be moving or it won't connect. When I am able to connect, It tells me I don't have the gps tracker when I do. It says my high speed micro SD card isn't fast enough, and then doesn't even detect it. So who knows if I'm actually recording. If you bought the VAVA dash cam recently, you're better off returning it. I regret my decision.

Camera will NOT record continuously, very Big downfall. It will only record 20secs at a time, which is great trim idea, but if you look back at the videos, when it records and begins a new clip, it pauses for about 3 seconds, than records again. Those 3 seconds are VERY valuable when driving and getting the full footage of what's going on. You lose 3 seconds of footage between clips basically. I ran some test with a Class 10SD and lower, same result.

Decent but two issues. I have an android phone. The "settings" symbol being at the top of the screen is confused by the phone for the start of a downward swipe when I try to press it. Also, for downloading files from the camera to my phone, I should have a setting to select where they go and it should default somewhere simple, not buried deep under android's app cache directory.

The app used to work properly. However a few months ago it started to continuously getting disconnected from the camera. I am pretty sure the camera is working properly. I tried with different devices and they all get to recognize the camera. I even bought a 128gb micro SD based on the brand's recommendation and it keeps saying it is too slow. Now it doesn't even get to download my records or photos. The app just made the camera completely useless. Never buying a Vava's product again.

Keeps disconnecting from camera when trying to download videos, then the wireless connection disappears and can't connect at all and the only way to get it back working is to reset the camera, so frustrating as it used to work flawlessly... The camera is actually decent quality but with such an awful app that you have to use it pretty much ruins the whole product

Having same problems as everyone else. Just bought this camera and app worked great out of the box but noticed a slow steady decrease in reliability. Slow SD CARD error (my card is a 128GB Samsung Evo, a recommended card per manual) constant disconnects and reconnects to the camera.. I've had to reset the camera multiple times just to view it via the app, but now, not even that is working properly. PLEASE FIX THIS APP!! ZERO SUPPORT FOR YOUR PRODUCTS IS UNFORGIVABLE.

kind of disappointed there is no motion sensor option / response to feedback: when i first installed, i bumped my vehicle 20 times with my body on ALL sides of my 2019 vehicle and nothing recorded (i checked both loop and emergency folders). i also tried with different sensativity levels = needs better support on that for when the vehicle is parked. i want to know when someone bumps my car in the parking lot, not just if an accident happens (God forbid). camera only turns on when engine begins

To start off, with the latest version of the app you can still get internet access when connected to the camera through wifi. You can preview all of the videos stored on the camera without downloading them. The download speeds aren't the fastest ones but they are decent. I can download a 3 minute 375mb video in about 3 minutes, which is pretty decent for a small camera with a somewhat competent processor. The app is much better than expect specially from the reviews I've read.

This app is so bad, that I'm actually returning the two cameras for a refund. The cameras work well, but the app is horrendous. Everytime you want to look at any videos, you have to hook up to it's Wi-Fi which knocks you off of any other Wi-Fi you're on AND out of your cars bluetooth. You have to be within feet of the camera for the app to work which defeats the purpose. My old owlcam, I could watch live feeds from Texas with my car in Boston. Unfortunately they went out of business.

It works great, especially being able to connect with the camera and remaining on the Internet. An improvement suggestion I would have is where it doesn't pause my music every time I do something in the app and only pause my music when I play an actual recorded video.

App is slapped together. 20-30 seconds of lost recordings between videos. Have to download videos to phone from camera to watch, unless you remove SD card and put into a computer. Constant "unable to stop recording" message when I try to download videos.

App is garbage. Camera records fine, good quality images. Does not worth $100+ because of this app. It used to be work pretty well months ago, I was able to livestream, dow load, even though speed was not great. Now app is completely useless, even though it says wifi is connected, but can't connect to device

I'm not sure what's going on with everyone else, but I've had basically no problems at all after swapping in a new SD card (SanDisk Extreme 128 GB). I was having loads of issues with the app using an older, but still Class 10, 32 GB card. Now the app is very quick and very functional.

Oh my God. Worst app ever. I think the camera could be good but its basically useless because when your connected to the dashcam wifi you it uses your mobile data so you can't use android auto or Google or anything really. So your left without GPS because the dash am is using it. Also disconnects the Bluetooth so you can't make hands free call any more. App isn't user friendly and there's no way to stop recording when your connected to the app so you have to disconnect the app to stop recording.

The app is unbearbly garbage. The worst app ever. I cannot put into words how frustrating it is to want to download a clip only to be met with unresponsiveness and technical issues such as connecting to the dash cam wifi. Reset a couple of times, no fix. Called customer service, they told me to uninstall the app, and reinstall and reboot my phone and reconnect to dash cam, and if necessary do it up to 5 times. If it doesnt work call them again. Company acknowledges it is bad but no fix. Wow

It warns you from the start. Camera works best with apple. You can't stream live and you have to to turn on the car to download and view videos. I'm still concerned if my car where to be stolen, that I could never get the footage. Vidoes are clear. But theres steps involved to get what you need. Just to pile on. My car got hit when parked. The tmobile syncup warned me that my car might of been damaged at noon. Camera never recorded.

The camera is great and does everything I need it to. However, the app requires me to restart my phone every time I want to connect to the camera. Sometimes, I'll try for 20 minutes and never get it to connect. I bought the camera because of the features you (should be able) to do with the app, but if I can't use those features, I'll just return the camera.

Will not stay connected to dash cam. I reset the device probably doesn't times I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app a dozen times and I've forgotten and relearn the network and everything I can think of at least a dozen times and it still will not connect

Last update killed the use of the app and the dual dash cam. The app will not update nor will it work anymore. So it is completely useless unless you pull the SD card and download everything. Unable to change settings or check on anything. 100% unusable!!! Giving a couple of weeks before throwing it in the trash! Do not buy!!!!

This app breaks all camera function. Every time I have to use this app theres issues and I have to reset and format my device before it'll connect. But if I take the memory card to the computer I can pull footage just fine. I just spent an hour trying to get the app to work with the camera to check the camera angles.

I change my review. This is one of the worst app ever. If you guys want to get frustrated, USE THIS APP. The video won't even download. Imagine getting into an accident and you can't even review the video... so disappointing. Will refund the camera just because of this app. You should tell your app developer to fix this app. Should consider firing them since they can't even code the basic feature.

I regret buying this dash cam. It doesn't do videos continuously making it pointless. A lot of the features are compatible with iPhones only. And you pretty much have to have your phone on the entire time you're recording or else it'll lose connection with the cameras.

Works perfectly with my new Dual 1080P Front and Rear dash cam. Connects over wifi each and every time. I like being able to view the cameras in Front, Rear, or PIP modes. I like that I can take a recording in the app. Allows access to the camera settings and whatnot. The app looks nice and is easy to navigate through. I took 2 stars off for a complaint and a wish: My only complaint is the VPN isn't working as it should in this version (Jan 9, 2020). By that I mean that if VPN/Wifi is connected this network will take precedence over Internet access. I still want my phone to access mobile networks/Internet as I like to stream audio, (and I forget to disconnect my wifi when I start my car.) My wish is that the software could playback videos stored on the camera, and transfer stored videos to my phone's download folder in the future. I know this is a "be careful of what you wish for" situation because then others might be able to hack into my camera and download videos.

This is worst app can't open it after updated. It's say use outside wifi as pop up windows nothing works! So far the app was updated and then it so bad it continued freeze the camera and emergency recorder show up for no reason. I requested for refund they sent UPS shipping label. Hopefully to get full refund.
