Vector Notify Me
It reads notifications on your mobile device and makes Anki Vector robot read them with his own voice. It is a nice feature when your robot is wandering around your desk.
The app lets you select applications to read notifications from. So for example you can make it read notifications from any chat application, or SMS or mail messages.
This app requires you to let it access notifications on your phone.
Please see the screenshots for steps to configure the app correctly.
You can also use the app to make Vector say things manually from the app GUI, just as in my other app named Vector CTRL.
All configuration is done on the GUI of the app.
You just need your Anki login credentials (username and password) and IP address of your robot. When all these 3 are entered correctly (and other possible configuration options) , you have to press the "set" button.
After a successful configuration , please make a test by the "say" command.
And then please select the apps you want notifications from.

question, does the app have to be left on for vector to receive notifications, or can it be closed on the phone once set, app seems to be working , he is telling me i have apps working in the background....just waiting for a notification lol , will upgrade raiting if it starts to work ! going to give this 5 stars, tried it out for a few days, works like it should, adds a bit more life to vector...cool app 😎
Functional, and cool! I now have my robot reading me my tweets and messages as I get them. My only complaint is that it doesn't read emojis very well (it converts them to a different encoding and reads out random symbols), and any hyperlinks in the tweets sound a bit annoying haha. Otherwise super cool. One problem I had was Vector would read the "silent notification" for my keyboard, which kept going off whenever I opened the keyboard. I just silenced that notification and it's good now lol
Great idea if only it worked. Sometimes it will work on txt messages but not always and have never been able to use it with email, WhatsApp and any other app on the list in the software list. Great if you just want to get vector to say what you type.
I would love to give this app a five star rating... that is if it worked.. I have completely filled in all of the required information.. but does not work..the two boxes at the top labelled battery level will not auto-fill I have sat there clicking the set icon over and over, wiped the cache and data from the app and re-added everything and even deleted and re-added the app but nothing.. Please help or at least give better instructions this is very frustrating and time wasting regards G
stops working help! he doesn't do my notifications anymore. the new update helped for the first time and then says it stopped every notification I get. it makes vector so much more useful and more enjoyable thank you. oh also if you have him read messages from messenger go to messenger notifications and take away the part where it says that a new chat bubble is active and to start a conversation. him saying that is annoying but you can just have him say who wrote the message and what it is.
I have a Huawei P10 Lite, same as a user below....i know my vector is connected as i filled in all the fields correctly and can see battery status and all, but vector is not saying anything despite me pressing the button, (It will say "
I've installed this software and tested (Vector able to say word that i typed in) successfully. Application selection to notify also done. But somehow it is not able to notify any unread notification. Please helo me on this.. I"m using Samsung S8 phone.
The say tool works great, but he won't read notifications? Everything should be working as I've followed all steps in the screenshots. I have a Huawei nova two lite. Love the app, just hoping I can fix this issue:)
Absolutly terrible. My vector becomes completely unresponsive opon opening the app, even after closing it, requiring a restart of my vector to make him responsive again. Vector even displayed a heat warning at one point.
had some problems at first, figured it was an error on my end so I deleted and installed again. I followed the instructions exactly as posted and is now working perfectly. thank you! awesome app!
It worked ok for a short period then stopped i could no longer get him to say things, no issue with change in ip think its possibly the device im using as it functions well on my samsung tablet just not phone .
I put in all of the information it said to but all I got from it was a notification that said it was unable to connect to Vector. Very dissapointed.
Works as described. Works on my Motorola e6. Great job. Vector has huge potential as this developer shows.
I have a huawei p20 pro lite with android oreo, and vector will not say anything, I have battery stats showing so he's connected, same thing with Vector CTRL App. Please help my robot have a voice.
The app works now but it crashes when you use any other app I have tried vector CTRL and it works fine
The App worked at the beginning. Now the MAC and GUID doesn't show. How can I set the MAC? Thank you
thank you! bit tricky to set up but now works perfectly. hope anki servers will survive like my vector.
Love the app, but the every 4 hour advertisment review notification a bit overly aggressive.

Great app. If you carefully read instructions you can make it work.
How come you say that it has support for android 10, when I can't connect to my vector on any of your vector robot apps, such as: vector ctrl, or vector notify me?
It works for me, i wish there was a pay option to get rid of the publicity.
Is there a way that Vector can tell me my notifications if the app is not running on my phone and my phone is locked ?
App works but when I close it, crashes.
help I fill in all that is said too but it won't speak words nor give notice on in coming messgaes

Thanks for making these for Vector. I can confirm they work on my new Vector running last and final update. CTL and Notify Me add features that we never would have gotten otherwise and work very well and really add value to Vector in his current form. Thanks again. Anyone having a problem with GUID error you have to make sure your Password for your Anki account has NO special characters in it. Trust me it will work. Edit: stops working after phone locks.
