Worst App Ever! It runs extremely slow and most of the time doesn't even respond to taps/clicks. While I'm paying for the digital version of the VCStar, I haven't been able to actually read it in over a month. If this is the "state of the art" of digital news then it will be quickly going the way of their print counterpart. If I could give this negative numbers I would, And yes, I've tried all the usual troubleshooting tricks to no avail.
Good layout as it resembles reading a physical newspaper. I like being able to select a story and read all of it including continuations. However, the app has several problems. First, content may be presented in one order in print view mode, and another after selecting an article or a comic, frustrating me in the process as I have to jump out and back to find the content rather than one continuous read for what I'm expecting. Second, Nation and World Watch are sometimes one-click to read all and at other times each one is separate. Third, indexing is great but if I am in landscape mode on a tablet and select an indexed item such as Business, and then close the index, the Business section is no longer visible and not even one page swipe away, but rather it skips all the way to the Opinion section. Fourth, the app is too sensitive to finger movements and when I am trying to select an article, it instead swipes the page. Fifth, why does it ask me if I want to refresh with new content, and even if I select no, it refreshes and resets to the first page?
I'm raising my rating from two stars to four for latest version of app. The new app is much improved, text size for articles is now controlled through a menu, and text stays one size as opposed to the old app changing sizes randomly. Loading is much quicker, and pages don't come up blurry. There are still a few glitches, such as the comics being out of order, and when scrolling from article to article, some articles are skipped. However, solid improvements make this app very usable.
the only problem occures when trying to enlarge the comics to read them. this feature doesnt work properly. All the articles are very readable and when you select an article to read it gives the entire story, not "continued on page"etc. I love the VC Star.
App frequently asks whether to load updated edition. Whether ok'd or cancelled it returns to first page & edition is the same. Time waster & frustrating, for no purpose!
Have had the star for 55 years. Read everyday. Lifeline.
Doesn't use the full screen for comics but like the way to enlarge the page.
it works. i've come to prefer the digital version over the paper version.
Not accepting the latest update. Do not understand why you require access my WI-FI and how I spend my money!!!

unacceptable paper will not open today and parts of weather are slow to open most every day

The online app leads to ads, which are impossible to skip, and are long and tedious. Just give us the article, please!
Takes forever to load, then about 1/3 of the time it loads to a white screen and I have to wait for it to load again. Some pages show wrong resolution and there's no way to read it. Very frustrating!
I used to use this app on my phone almost daily and was very satisfied, but at some point it stopped working. After "downloading edition" I get a blank, white screen with a back-arrow in the top right corner. Maybe it's because I run an older version of Android (7.0) but if the app is not compatible then it should not have installed/updated.
