All the 5 star ratings are from before the upgrade!! This latest update is horrible. The delete number feature was updated right out of the program. I have a list of numbers I've already reported. I would really like to give less than one star. Plus none of these numbers come in with a name? Even those with ID's show as 'not in contacts'. Verizon no longer shows ANY names unless they are in my contact list. Ahh, I see Verizon is now charging for the features that were free before the upgrade.
At first it seemed useful but now not at all. Even seems like I'm getting more calls. Eg, It allowed 7 unidentified calls in just 1 hour this morning even with the filter supposedly set to block "low" spam risk. And I no longer see a way to check my settings. My guess: Vz abandoned the app or is pushing it all into a premium service.
This app is inconvenient because it doesn't interface completely with the phone app. I have A Note 20 Ultra, and on my last phone, a Note 10, I was able to block and report calls from right inside the phone app. Now, although blocking capability is still available through the phone app, I have to remember to open the separate app - Call Filter - to report numbers. Also, no ability to batch-delete calls is frustrating.
App does nothing to block spam calls. "Unable to contact server at this time", says the app. What a joke. And when it was able to connect, all it did was try to get me to subscribe to premium spam filter. Even when I was with a second tier carrier like MetroPCS, they had a spam call filter app that worked. Verizon should be ashamed of itself.
Stopped working a month ago. Obviously they made some kind of update that made the app useless. I've contacted customer support and I've done everything to try and fix it. It will work for a day and then I have to like delete the app, clear the cache a and start all over again. It's annoying because I get so many spam calls everyday.
I know longer love this app. For some reason it quit working the other day. The app is driving me crazy. Every time I try to message someone I get a message that says there is a time difference and cannot connect to the server. Then the message finally goes through. I love this app. It sure saves me time. It also saves me time so I don't have to worry about stopping what I'm doing and answer the phone
Terrible because no way to simply block a number from unwanted text messages. You have to memorize or write down number, close text app, open vzw call filter, retype in the digits. It's as bad as receiving the spam in the first place.... UPDATE: it still sucks. Won't block voicemail. It's never proactive. I hate it!
Deceitful and worthless! I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Verizon is actually selling customer information, as I started getting bombarded by spam as soon as I switched to VZW! This app is worthless while getting stuck on "checking account status"... Even after March update (currently running version 13.1 main-1bdae52d7c) I've spent three weeks already troubleshooting this app, several hours on the phone with VZW technical support and somehow nobody knows why the app doesn't work. Trash
Terrible app paying for the upgraded version and it's equally as bad as the free one. I have to open my phone app and my call filter several times a day to block calls not in my contacts; spam callers, text from blocked numbers and weird area codes. I had to create a spam contact to block text and area codes from numbers blocked in filter but are still get through. It only allow you to block 10 area codes and I have used them all. Paying for an upgraded app it should be unlimited.
It's horrible. Doesn't easily allow you to block calls. How do I revert back to the previous version?Verizon, shame on you for this horrible version. Update: it still does not work properly. Bring back call ID, I don't need to see my contacts listed on the app. If they are already a contact, why are you identifying them? When you get a group text, it does not identify any unknown numbers. And yes Verizon I have the latest update. Stop asking. Just accept you have a useless app
Update 4/4/22 I actually called Verizon for help and spam texts are worse. Even with paid upgrade. They start in late afternoon lasting until 2am sometimes. Whether I report it or not. Forwarding to 7726 seems to have made it worse. Even spoofing from my own number. 😡😡😡😡😡 It's horrible, getting texts and spam all hours of the day and night. It has never done this. We can't sleep for the phone going off. I can't turn it off because my elderly dad might need me.
This app has been "checking account status" since I got the new phone. Useless. Developers want my number, but given the number of reports for the same problem you'd think it would be fixed by now. Got an app update. Now it's in an endless loop. Says I'm not a Verizon user. Login. I login. Says I'm not a Verizon user. This app is a piece of garbage. Can I please give it zero stars.
I'm a Verizon wireless customer on the Verizon network and the app won't even start and states I must be a Verizon wireless customer. Update: seems since I bought my unlocked phone direct from Samsung, it's not compatible with this app. I'll look elsewhere for call filtering.
Not to crazy about this call filter. It's all the time showing me Potential Spam and I block each and every call and now the calls are pretty far apart 😎 They could organize the chaos on the app in a better way to get the most out of the app. I am uninstalling 💗
This service is complete junk! Even after developer contact and changing settings the app still blocks absolutely nothing. Do not pay for this service and consider changing to a more reliable phone service company. They should be paying me to report spoof and scam callers on the app so they can add to their list.
It sucks that you have to rate something with the one star, because there's a software issue, but I can't use the product in which I pay for because there's a negative feedback loop trying to sign into the app..... Literally cannot log into the app with an Android Samsung Galaxy s22
It's better than it was with the new layout but still needs a lot of work. I wish there was better call data. At least this time it's actually blocking calls. As of last month I am getting bombarded with spam texts and this filter has no way of blocking them. I am paying for the full version.
Does not work on S 22 Ultra. I don't know why Verizon won't admit a dang thing. They told me that no one else has complained about the app and I just wanted to scream! When it worked, 'Call Filter' really helped. Actually, ALL Verizon apps are ridiculously buggy! Better off forgetting about them! Delete them now! But Verizon should be booted off of Play Store. They say that there is no tech person alive that can fix the 'Call Filter App!' I think we can live without Verizon!
This app is garbage. Doesn't work. I get tons of spam texts, calls, and voice-mail( even though the voice-mail settings says not to receive or leave spam voice-mail). I believe version is getting paid for letting their customers get spam calls and text. People you are warned. ⚠️ I'm considering leaving Verizon because I'm getting spammed constantly.
Why in the Sam hell do you turn ALL notifacations back on for this app on updates AND I had another app set to default for call filtering and now your app is default. Your maintenance departmet has admitted countless times that they know the cell towers and internet over this entire county isn't up to par and won't lift a finger to change it. I'm about to drop Verizon like a bad habit.
The only issue I had was it was blocking numbers. UPDATE 4/12/22: I have Disabled the app until I get control of all the additions by "other" developed must install on your phone without express consent by fine print privacy overrides/hidden permissions allowing the highjack maneuver that is starting to become the norm. I say illegal but they say you agreed to the 500 page agreement, several clauses, separate web pages that redirect and do no redirect your return except to a blank page... BS
1, it rarely blocks unwanted calls which is the one thing it's supposed to do. 2, there is no way to clear the call history. They just sit there for years.... 3, Verizon should do this automatically at the relays, not require a phone app.
I haven't had any issues with the app, but I'd like to make a suggestion. I've been experiencing a lot of spam texts lately, and no I don't just give out my phone number willy-nilly. I'd like to see an option to have a text filter. Like with Gmail they have the spam folder for stuff that looks fishy or doesn't meet their security standards. I'm receiving 5 or more spam texts a day and sometimes they come from the same number, if I don't get the number blocked right away.
The app no longer works since January's update. For the longest time app stuck with "trying to connect" (not even the with the spinning circle to stare at🙄) Today a new message appeared this one is a good one "you must be a verizon wireless customer to use call filter🤯🤷🏻♀️) I"m here to say.. Ummm Hello! verizon wireless customer I am. Well, I guess I should be happy verizon fixed the connection issue 🤭
The app is no longer capturing the numbers that are texting me or giving me the option to block them. I'm getting spammed by illegitimate store offers with links. But none of the new texts show up in the application. I have to manually enter the number in order to report it.
Doesn't work with prepaid acct. I tried to learn if it would work before i contacted customer service. They politely said it would not. An in-app informational error message would have also been nice too. Instead the screen just read "checking account status" FOREVER! Don't waste my time, please. I wouldn't have tried if notified in advance OR during the install/start process.
Absolutely great. Except it does not work at all. The best it seems to do is lable a call "potential spam". This is rare. And even then it doesn't block it. Nothing I love more than waking up to a potential spam phone call.
The app used to work fine until a few months ago. Now I can't even open the app to check or change the settings and robo calls are not being filtered. Don't waste you time or energy with this filter.
Doesn't work with unlocked phones. I installed this on my unlocked Galaxy S21+ and S22 Ultra and continously got a message saying checking account status. I contacted Verizon and they told me my phones were not compatible with this app. How do you manage to make an app that only runs on your locked devices? I don't understand it.
This app is a huge help! It sends notifications when an incoming call is potentially spam, or just a number you have blocked. Then it allows you to choose which category that number most resembles. Ie; Spam, telemarketing, etc. If a call does come in and inaccurately marked as potential spam- you may remove it from the list. I chose not to purchase the full featured app that offers more options. The free version is very adequate for my needs. It's great maintaining Peace of Mind!🙂
