VERSUS: The Elite Trials

Will you infiltrate the gods' Elite Courte, stealing their superpowers, or turn double agent and join them, taking your place among the divine?

"VERSUS: The Elite Trials" is a thrilling 140,000-word interactive novel by Zachary Sergi, author of our best-selling "Heroes Rise" trilogy. Your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

In this sequel to "VERSUS: The Lost Ones," as one of the prisoners trapped on planet Versus, you must vote for who will fight in deadly gladiatorial battles. Thirteen prisoners have formed a voting bloc, the Elite Courte, to ensure that they choose who lives and who dies.

But one of their so-called "gods" has a plan for revolution. Your power to steal superpowers and memories makes you the perfect spy--or the perfect double agent.

MemoryTravel through time and space--keeping one step ahead of the enforcer agents who want you dead. Play the gods against each other in games within games. Design your own planet in the halls of the gods.

On Versus, nothing and no one is as they seem, perhaps not even you.

• Play as male, female, or non-binary
• Create a planet and culture in your own image
• Romance one (or more!) of ten different characters
• Subvert the corrupt Elite Courte, or join them to suppress rebellion

I loved Heroes Rise trilogy, and was excited to play the authors next books. Unfortunately the writer is constantly forcing his political opinion in your face, and kind of punishing you if you disagree and make a different choice, such as the planet creation scene. Honestly I try to play these games to get away from the crazed political world, and this did the exact opposite. Big let down, anf the first one wasn't much better. Everything had great potential, but I've lost interest.

A continuation of the Versus saga. One thing to point out is that this book is far more political than the first. I am not a huge fan of these kinds of choice games with political intrigue but it is well written. The author had to pursue the political side of things because of the plot from the first book but I suspect the next book will be more action oriented with plot twists and unexpected Revelations. Worth buying as part of the upcoming trilogy.

Fantastic! Incredible scope. Incredible depth. Incredible storyline. Eminently replayable with very different outcomes on each play through. I can highly recommend this game! :)

It was a interesting continuation in the series I enjoyed it but felt it was too short overall. Hopefully the next entry will feel similar to the first which was much more enjoyable then the second was.

the entire Versus series is worth every penny. you get out what you put into it. immerse yourself in it entirely to reap its many benefits. but even just as a story or game, this series is still at the top.

I hate when these writers make a series. Then refuse to complete it. Make me feel like I'm ripped off. I've stopped buying any books from choice games because of a few of these incomplete series.

Great sequel to follow up a riveting opening CYOA game. Had to play back through recently since the third in the series finally dropped.

Not a big fan of having political opinions shoved in my face but the rest is decent.

This game is complete horseshit. The story has no real length. Its a bunch of meaningless mono-logging and overly descriptive narrative to make it seem like a long story. Everything becomes extremely fixed toward the end and you lose almost all control over the story. Two stars because it's still well written, but is completely out of he hands of the reader who paid for it.

Got to say, I was very wary going into this one. After Hero Project Redemption and Versus TLO, I was expecting to give this a 1 star, lament the $4 cost and swear off all of the author's later works. Thankfully, I don't have to say any of that. This installment is easily the author's best work and handedly outshines even Herofall, arguably the best of the Hero Rise trilogy. Without getting too much involved in the story, many new game mechanics are introduced, one of which is the concept that a decision isn't always a "locked in" situation and that you can concurrently work towards multiple goals, some even diametrically opposed to one another. Plus there is a SUPER cool simulation that honestly is worth the price of admission. As I said earlier, the author had 2 strikes against them with his previous 2 installments and that is the one blemish on this otherwise spotless game. My only hope is that he can recover, learn what works and what doesn't, and keep making stellar games like this one. 5/5

U just love to twist things up don't u? I thought I had a clear goal when I started versus on my status. As I play through, u don't make it easy. When I choose to be a good guy, u only give options where I will have to choose to avoid lesser evils. When I choose to be a bad guy, I just can't seem to do all bad. But it was easier than being the former. The choices resemble real life choices where u will have to make combromises. Just love the way ur head works man. Good luck on ur next one.

Warning: Immersion breaking SJW propaganda/Misandry heavily instilled in this otherwise very well written game. My previous review was one of frusterstion, anger and a slight feeling of betrayl by the writer however Mary Duffys understanding and allowance of a refund for me has really turned my opinion of Choice of Games around. Thank you Mary.

I highly recommend this game/story experience! It's important that you know going into it that this story is not a shallow one, as much as it may seem to be at first. You are going to need to think a bit deeper and even give yourself some time ruminating on it in-between playthrough's. If you feel lost or even let down somehow -I promise you- it's not the story but, how you are playing it that is at fault. You need to dig deeper into yourself and use your brain a bit more next time you play. Reflect on it. :) It makes a whole world of a difference! I promise.

I played many different choice type games over the past couple years. I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones I have ever read. I'm so drawn into the story for Versus. Anxiously awaiting for book 3

It feels a bit shorter than the first one but still...the things that happen in this book. They were so amazing and I'm excited for the third book. So many questions to be answered. People to meet, romances to be fulfilled. ECT.

A mesmerising experience. The storytelling and choices are fluid and extravagant. The pictures painted through the deliberate storytelling pull the player into an entirely new world. I found this to be a 9/10 unique experience.
