Vessel Lights
Learning in this app takes three stages. In the first stage "Study", the vessels can be browsed, and each vessel shows its lights from the side as well as from the top. A unique feature is that the vessel can be rotated by swiping, so that it can be viewed from all angles. In the second stage "Practice", random vessels are presented from a random angle, and in side view. Make a choice out of four answers. It is possible to cheat in various way: asking for the correct answer, rotating the vessel, going back to other vessels. The final stage is the "Examination". There is no cheating here. Random vessels from a random angle. Case after case. The timer is running. When the examination is finished, you are rewarded with a report. And, another unique feature, you can review your answers.
The app has some customization features such as choosing the amount of questions in the examination, whether to beep on correct/wrong answers, and the language.
Of course you can share your examination results with your friends.
This app requires no permissions.

Great app, double diagrams help orient the learner quickly. One suggestion: It would be great to enter lights as seen by the observer to a screen and let the app tell you the heading and the type of vessel, or alternatively one could take a picture and let the app determine heading and type of vessel.
App is fantastic! Best of its kind. It's a pity it only has the maritime lights. If it has the sounds, signals, flags and right of way laws, it would be an all time best!
Great application! It's the third phone I've got it installed on. Quite realistic lights in terms of size. Handy instructions and rules. It helped me to understand the concept of front light higher than rear light on bigger vessels. Great thanks to the authors especially considering this is a hobby project. Keep up guys!
App is good. User friendly, clear and well laid out. Pity some of the vessels are missing. Found our course guide was incorrect, hence the edit.
This is an amazing app, I don't often review but had to give a very big thank you for this. Brilliantly executed, fully functional and no bugs, so far. Please do one for navigation marks and lights
I cant believe how good this app is. They even added combination of side looking and top view, where you can rotate the vessel and see what would it look like.
Great concept. Flaws with execution. Some of the lights are wrong specifically for power driven vessels at anchor which seems to not jive with rule#30 Also, you can practice some lights displays you will never see on the test!

It would be better if after I answer question it could show me the boat itself, show me the boat that has those lights and it would really help me put it together in my mind.

Not sure what rules they follow but the colregs that I have from the imo don't include terms such as motor yacht. Have immediately deleted it for that reason.

Great app! The ability to turn the light 360 degrees in the practice area is brilliant. I just wish the wrong answers would show longer in exam mode so I can learn from my mistakes. This can be changed in the settings but then correct answers show way too long. Great learning tool! EDIT: Thank you Maarten, no I didn't realise you could click your results to review the answers! That's brilliant, thanks!
