I booked my trip prior to creating my profile. Thought I would be able to add my booking reference and it would turn up in the app, but there is no option to add a previously booked trip. Very poor UI, as I expected to be able to add it from the Plus Sign on the landing page...but can only book a new trip.

It is a fairly well designed app and user-friendly, however there are some limitations that make it less useful than it should be. For instance, if a travel companion makes a reservation for you, the reservation will not appear in your trips on the app (or on the Web site) even if it was made using your Via Preference number. There is no way to manually enter the reservation either, for instance by using the confirmation number. Resolving this functional limitation would make the app much useful.

Horrible app! I made a profile. Did the activation don't let me log in. I can't continue as a guest. I can't buy tickets as a guest. Uninstall and go through the website; save yourself some frustration.

The wifi is full 4 bars but the app response hyper slow. Once in app, I can't say if the app is running or freezing because there is nothing to guess. If by mistake, you clicked several times, then the app is frozen and you have to stop/start the app. The VIA app doesn't show you the history of your trip. It shows the total point I have but I have no clue how the points are calculated. On the train, it announced that we can see the menu within the VIA Rail app, but good luck to find it...

The app does not work. I am unable to sign in because it says there's something wrong with my internet connection (immediately after downloading the app over the internet), tried on wifi and data. Even when choosing "continue as guest", the home screen is just blank. Ignoring all this, the design of the app does not look good. I don't understand how they can charge so much and not even provide a basic user experience.

I am running Via Rail app ver 1.15 on a Galaxy S9+ under Android 8.0.0. I can call up information including Boarding Pass for the first trip on a given day. There is a major problem when I make a return trip on the same day or two separate trips on the same day. After I have completed the first trip and up to the departure time for the second trip (which might be 10 hours later), I can not access info or Boarding Pass for the second trip The app does not show the first trip as being completed. It still shows Boarding Pass and trip info for this trip as if it had not yet taken place. This means I have to take a hard copy itinerary and Boarding Pass – which defeats the purpose of the app.

App was working well until it started telling me there was an update. Won't update, Won't log in without the update. I uninstalled then reinstalled. Same thing, I guess I will need to print my ticket to travel.

Unreliable app. Refuses to connect to internet at random and needs to be reinstalled. Logs out after 30 days. Inaccessible etransfer option. And the worst part, I need the features and hate training without them. Asking and complaining have all failed to make this app better. Empty assurances at best, and "that's just the way it is" at worst. Attrocious!

When it works this app is good and an essential tool for frequent and business travelers. However it has more bugs more often than a PS4 online video game. crashes so often, cant do what it's intended to do half the time. Hi, the update worked to resolve. Fyi, I had uninstalled and reinstalled several times before making this comment and it seemed that didint make the update and problem persisted. Via advertises all over their stations that you can use a bunch of different entertainment options in their app, watch movies, shows play games etc. Not a single one of those things is on this app. All it does is tell you the information that's on their website, emails, maps, that you can ask about or basically get anywhere. Don't waist your time or effort on this app.

I tried the website, and then the app. It does not work, I can't book a train using it. I was able to book using the website, and am now using the mobile app to show my boarding pass. If VIA fixes the issues with the app (every time you click into a new menu, it erases all your entered information) then I will change my review to 5 stars, for working how it should.

App is hit and miss. Last week it worked, this week I can't book from my commuter pass nor make any changes to my commuter trips. Logged off, logged on refreshed and even reinstalled the app and it still doesn't work. Very frustrating. I am not always around a computer to actually book my trips.

App used to be buggy as you could not show reservations booked in ways other than via rails website, but at least you could add the bookings to be able to access your Boarding pass, see meal service etc. . Ever since early January however that feature no longer works and gives an error stating "Adding this reservation is not allowed". This makes the app completely impossible to use! Can we not have an app that actually works, or at least is able to access your bookings easily by Via Preference # without having to add your bookings? Amtrack and train services overseas can do it without issue....

Server down entire trip. Via website worked fine from same device, but app wouldn't let me log in with message that it couldn't reach VIA's servers. Next day, I was able to log in no problem with same account, device. So, handy if it works, but don't count on this app when you're traveling.

Over the last two weeks I have been trying to book a train ticket and everytime it comes up with a notice saying: Your request cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later. I tried uninstalling the program cause sometimes that fixes the problem but its still doing it! Please fix this!!!!!

I've had no luck with this app at all. I keep trying to log in but when I enter my email/password (which I reset on the website in case that was the issue), it keeps giving an error to "check your internet connection". I tried it on both wifi and data, no luck, although all other apps are accessing the internet fine.

Very unreliable and slow app. I often have to take a screenshot of my ticket for it to be usable, otherwise it tries to reload the page every time I switch to the app. Also, for the last few days I've been unable to book tickets on it, which has caused me to miss my train.

Can't book a ticket. Keeps giving me an error message. Have experienced this before. The app used to work well but the last 6 months it's been full of problems. It's easier to call and book with an agent at this point.

Every time I try to purchase tickets in the mobile app, it allows me to get through the entire process until an inactive "Book" button, so I'm not able to actually purchase the ticket. Two stars: at least it displays passes I've already purchased by using my laptop.

While it could receive minor improvements, this app works beautifully for booking tickets, especially once your preferences are set in the app. Not sure why it has such a low score, really.
