Vibration Meter

Vibration Meter measures vibrations using your device’s sensors on all 3 axes: X, Y, Z and shows reference to earthquake vibrations as classified by internationally used Mercalli intensity scale for seismic activities such as earthquakes. The Mercalli intensity scale is a seismic scale used for measuring the intensity of an earthquake. It measures the effects of an earthquake. Vibration Meter can also be called seismograph or seismometer when used for measuring seismic activity.
Vibrations are shown in all 3 directions: X, Y, Z in different colors and specific directions can be turned off or on for more accurate directional readings.

To use; place your device on stable surface and measure seismic or other vibrations.

Mercalli intensity scale:

I. Instrumental
- Not felt. Recorded by seismographs.II. Weak
- Felt only on top floors of high buildings.III. Slight
- Felt indoors, like a passing light truck.IV. Moderate
- Windows, doors rattle. Like passing train.V. Rather Strong
- Felt by all. Small objects upset.VI. Strong
- Books off shelves. Trees shake. Damage.VII. Very Strong
- Difficult to stand. Buildings damaged.VIII. Destructive
- Significant damage. Trees broken.IX. Violent
- General panic. Serious damage. Cracks.X. Intense
- Most buildings destroyed. Rails bent.XI. Extreme
- Rails bent greatly. Pipelines destroyed.XII. Catastrophic
- Near total damage.

Some countries use Richter scale instead of Mercalli scale. The Richter scale is a base-10 logarithmic scale, which defines magnitude as the logarithm of the ratio of the amplitude of the seismic waves to an arbitrary, minor amplitude.

To translate from Richter Scale to Mercalli and vice versa see below comparison:

Richter Scale = Mercalli equivalent <3.5 = I3.5 = II4.2 = III4.5 = IV4.8 = V5.4 = VI6.1 = VII6.5 = VIII6.9 = IX7.3 = X8.1 = XI> 8.1 = XII

Does what it says & seems to be bug free. Here are some recommended improvements. The scale is faint & difficult to read. Also, the scale only goes to 2, but the scale description goes to 7. The timeline goes a little too fast. I would pay for a version that auto-scales & logs data for later review & download. I'd also like ability to calibrate.

I just downloaded the app. It can pick up vibration of me walking. Going to test it tonight to see if it can pickup vibrations i feel with my feet from the ground. If it does i will upgrade the stars since it only happens at night time. One thing i don't like are the adds on the bottom since it covers the X Y Z and some other thing i am not sure what it is half way up from the bottom.

Very good app. It works. I can see why its one of your babies. I can tell you put alot of time in it. It dos what its built for. I put my phone on the floor. I know it could pick it up on the bed but could it pick anything on the foor? Yes small singels letting me know the floor was shaking. Very cool i will be keeping thison my phone for along time. Keep up the good work.😀👍

I have tested.the accuracy of this App.It's amazing, with the help of my spring bed,I slowly move, and the scale increased as I increased the intensity of the motion. So accurate.I Thank you so much, please accept those 5 S. Good Luck.

It reallt needs to be MATHEMATICAL / scientific. Show numbers and units, not just "slight", "weak", "strong" etc.

Useful for testing vibration dampening. Not really a quantitative tool but it does categorize the severity of vibration events which allows me to screen dampening strategies.

Great app, but the ad placement blocks part of the interface. If that was fixed, it would be 5 stars!

Great app not to measure an earthquake but to check on the aftershocks. With more than 100 aftershocks a day for more than a week since the big earthquake, it's nice to have a parameter to check if your house is still moving or is just in your head .

If x, y, z graphs ran simultaneously and the wave form was bigger it would be perfect.

1st rate though i would like to have the option to set a constant gain with a settable threshold to an output, or start to record 30 sec before the event

Amazing app.. try to add a distinctive feature in the app wherein the app can understand the difference between a mechanical movement and a actual movement.

The apps is really sensitive and i like it. Think it does what it tells though I haven't try it yet. I will change my rating later after i can test it on aftershocks.

Google ads obscuring the device or the app so that it can't be used properly the whole problem is Google I think so that's your thing you need to work on for fixing this

Great app! Clean, easy to use, does what it says. Would give 5 stars if there was a way to record "events"

Easy on the guy. Load it and use . No permissions required. A little too sensitive. Seems accurate.

The app is extremely sensitive and did a good job detecting the sheer volume of noise from my neighbors.

Nice app. Does what it promises to do. Only issue is I cant save the vib data. it would have been good if i can save the measured data

Still evaluating it's practical use for my particular problem (heavy traffic vibration) but sensitive. Easy to use.

Very nice app and fun to use in different environments.

This is a great app and works very well. If there was a way to record or log the results, it would be even better. Thanks

Very sensitive picked up the cat walking on my countertop (bad cat) lol no b.s. to this app its tje real deal, thanks to the developer, i will use this to help balence my micro moter im building

Works well. Reacts to even slight vibrations. Good for measuring ground noise for stereo audio purposes

Ras. M. Feb 3, 2020

I wanted a ap to show me seismic waves and I got a ap that does just that, thank you developers for coming through, it really means alot.:)

Class A free app that functions exactly how it needs to. Kudos to the developer.. Simple yet multi-functional

Jul. R. Aug 21, 2019

Very cool. Concrete has been cracking trees falling great to keep an eye on what on earth....under earth...above is going on!?

Joe. A. May 16, 2022

Absolutely amazingly good for a app that has 100k+ downloads

GAr. G. May 9, 2021

Not sure how accurate it is but it's fun to rest my phone on my cat when she sleeps and see what catagory of earthquake she could cause.
